ALISON BURTON AND FAMILY would like to share their thanks and appreciation to St Mary Redcliffe
and its congregation for the funeral service of Geoffrey Burton on Mon 3 Sep.
MICHAEL VOOGHT will be retiring as one of our associate clergy later this year, with his final mass
taking place on Sun 23 Sept. To thank him for his dedication, we would like to get him a nice
retirement gift. If you would like to make a contribution, please give donations to the Church
Wardens or the Parish Office.
REDCLIFFE AUTUMN FESTIVAL On Sun 14 Oct, there will be an event across different venues in
Redcliffe to showcase all the good things going on in the local community. This will run 2-5pm,
with stalls and activities from different groups. Do pop the date in your diary – everyone is
welcome! Our community workers, Rachel and David, are looking for anyone who might like to

DOORS OPEN DAY: We are still looking for some extra volunteers to help out on the day! There is a
list of the roles and a sign up sheet at the back of Church. You can also contact Andy

the day from 1.30pm – please do come and join them!
MARY’S MEALS It’s back to school – and it’s the time of year we come together to support our
African friends access an education. You can support this very worthy cause in three ways: By
donating toiletries, clothing and stationery, By donating a backpack (either empty or with
donations), By making a monetary donation towards a backpack (purchased at £2.99) by the end
of September. Any donations received after this date will be paid directly to the charity. For

A CELEBRATION OF THE LIFE AND WORK OF THOMAS HARDY: Mon 10 Sep, 1.10 pm. Saint Stephen's
Church, Bristol City Centre. Recitalist: Auriol Britton. A short talk about the poet's life, followed
by a recitation of some of his most wellknown poems. Duration: 45 minutes. Admission free,
retiring collection in aid of lunchtime concerts at the church. All welcome: books, cards, CD's

BRISTOL HALF MARATHON: there will be road closures around the church on Sun 23 Sep. There are a
few leaflets at the back of church with more details.
SEEKERS: This academic year Seekers is running a course called ‘Faith Pictures’. Full details on the
cards at the back of church. We start THIS THURS (13 Sep) 7.30pm in the Vicarage with Freshers
Week! More info from Dan Tyndall.
CONFIRMATION: This year’s confirmation service will be here (at SMR) on Wednesday 28
November at 7.30pm. We don’t yet know whether our new bishop, Rt Rev Viv Faull, will be
taking the service – but let’s hope! Prep. sessions are about to get underway so if you would like
to be Confirmed please speak to Dan Tyndall (adults) or Kat Campion-Spall (all age group)
REDCLIFFE WAY: Bristol City Council have agreed funding of more than £3million to changes to the
road layout on Redcliffe Way. Changes are now really underway to bring 200 new (mainly
affordable and family) homes just outside the church!
REMEMBRANCE: Do you have anything that comes from WWI? If so, please do speak with me so
that can add it to our collection of memorabilia (so far we have medals, postcards, diaries and a
Communion set used in the trenches) that will be on display for the evening service on Sun 11
