THE URA HEADQUARTERS We are moving soon! First it seemed an impossible idea, now the beautiful building is testimony that dreams do come true. We will soon move into our new home. The Taxman team caught up with the change team for some brief highlights of what we to expect. Update One: A moving company has been hired to facilitate our shifting. No old furniture will be the new building. Only Computers and servers will be moved. Staff are expected to clear their desks as storage in the new office is limited to one drawer per staff. Update Two: The official launch is 31st October 2018. Update Three: The following Domestic Taxes service centers will remain at their current locations; in Kyaliwajjala, Nansana, Natete, Diamond Trust DTB, and Aponye. In addition, other centers located within banks will be communicated in due course once the agreements are completed. Clients will still be able to get support in case they can’t make it to Nakawa. Update Four: A dining area is being constructed where the current(Research Planning and Business Development (RPD), Public and Corporate Affairs Division (PCA) and transport offices are. In addition, the old main block will be converted into training rooms. The long room which houses IT is being converted into the Tax Investigations Lab. As the construction of the dining goes on, a tent has been procured to accommodate staff in the interim during meal times. Update Five: Some of the offices not moving into the new building are; the Document Processing Center (DPC), Headquarter Service Office (HSO), Enforcement, Mukono and Entebbe Domestic Taxes. Update Six: Access to the different floors will be restricted. There will be no more eating at one’s desk. Update Seven: Get ready to enjoy your new home! More updates will be shared in due course. 9
