MEET OUR MEMBERS
At the community level, we are in the process of allocating the 2018
Community Investment Funds, a milestone in the long-process work with
communities to select and prioritize local development projects.
Daniel Garrido
BUSINESS MANAGER
info@aelaenergia.cl
Daniel is Chilean, married and has two children. He is an electric civil
engineer from the Chile University, with a Master in Risk Management and
Financial Engineering from the Business School of the Imperial College,
London. He has over 11 years of experience in the electric industry.
What products or services does your company deliver and to what
kind(s) of NCREs?
We are an investment company in NCRE, with a portfolio of 332MW of
wind projects in operation and under construction next to reach COD,
approximately 50% of our business plan. We are focused on NCRE,
without limiting to any particular technology.
What are the main projects -or themes- you have been recently working
on concerning NCRE or the environment? In case they are generation
plants, where are the located and which are their main characteristics?
We are in the middle of the construction of two wind farms: Sarco
-located in the Atacama Region- of 170 MW, which has a 54 percent of
progress, and Aurora -located in the Los Lagos Region- of 129 MW, with
a 64 percent of progress.
Which elements characterize and/or distinguish your company?
We have a highly-experienced team in the industry, and the support of
first-rate shareholders. We offer innovative and flexible solutions of clean
energy supply. We are distinguished for our excellent relationship with
communities since we operate based on permanent dialogue,
confidence building, community participation and commitment to the
local development.
How important is NCRE participation in the Chilean electric system?
Energies contribute to the accomplishment of the commitments made by
Chile concerning climate change. At the same time, the larger the
penetration of NCRE, the lower our dependence on commodities price
fluctuations, and, therefore, our vulnerability to international price
shocks.
Why would you recommend being an ACERA member?
Because it is a positioned institution and a recognized voice within the
country’s renewable industry. Furthermore, ACERA provides meeting
opportunities where we can share experiences with the entire Chilean
renewable industry, be part of the sector’s technical discussion, deliver
our contributions and concerns to the authorities, and generate business
opportunities.
Alfredo Solar
GERENTE GENERAL PARA
CHILE Y URUGUAY
asolar@atlasren.com
Alfredo is Chilean, married and has three children. He is an engineer from
the Chile University with over 25 years of experience. He loves countryside
and horses, is passionate for his job, and convinced about a more
sustainable future for the next generations.
What products or services does your company deliver and to what
kind(s) of NCREs?
Atlas is a company focused on NCRE plant investments -mainly solar
photovoltaic but also wind-, which have long-term power supply
contracts for a significant proportion of their generation.
Which have been the latest news or changes introduced by your
Company?
Atlas is one of the companies which have grown the most in Latin
America. With a little more than one year since its creation, it already has
over 1GW of hired projects in four countries, and an ambitious expansion
plan in the region.
What are the main projects -or themes- you have been recently working
on concerning NCRE or the environment? In case they are generation
plants, where are the located and which are their main characteristics?
In Chile, Atlas has two operative solar plants: Quilapilún and Javiera. It
also has two operative solar projects in Uruguay, totaling 80 MW. In
Brazil, our four projects add up to 500 MW, of which one is operating,
the second in construction, and the other two to be started soon. We
also have solar projects hired in Mexico which are about to close their
financing stage and begin construction.
Which elements characterize and/or distinguish your company?
We are an extremely agile company, handling 1 GW in projects in four
countries with only 80 people. Our management team is highly
experienced and particularly efficient in financing and building. We also
have consolidated an efficient team in asset deal.
How important is NCRE participation in the Chilean electric system?
Chile needs new energy to grow and has set itself the goal of
decarbonizing its energy matrix. Here NCRE play a fundamental role
since they produce power at a lower cost and therefore contribute in
reducing energy prices.
Why would you recommend being an ACERA member?
ACERA is an association that provides significant value to its members,
it has a professional team of excellence, and the active participation of its
directors ensures an effective and practical agenda for the short, mid and
long-term development of the NCRE industry.
