In the middle of all the oldworld
beauty, the Museum
Quarter lies, a massive complex
dedicated to modern art and
lifestyle. The place has a lot
courtyards for you to chill and
appreciate some of the outdoor
exhibitions. Must see for any art
buffs and Instagram addicts!
Michael’s Gate
At the very entrance of the old town,
this building has been there since
the end of the 13th century and is a
definite landmark of the city!
Travel tip: Vienna is a rather big city and landmarks are far apart
from each other, to save time we decided to purchase a hop-on,
hop-off bus here and there are plenty of options for travelers to
choose from.
Bratislava: Eerie and Endearing At
The Same Time
Having told people that I am visiting this city, I have been asked why,
it’s not a typical destination and that was the very reason we are
going!
Arriving after a quick two-hour train ride, we set off to immediately
see the surroundings, right away you are brought back in what
seems to be dark and eerie times, although the country has been
independent since 1993, all around you can see the past and how the
now is currently catching up.
Much like Prague, the center of the action is centered in the old town
or Centrum Bratislava. Cafes, Restaurants, bars and souvenir shops
set-up next to each other vying for their share of tourist money.
Having seen castles and churches for a few days now, we wanted
to switch things up and instead joined a free night walking tour
– a spooky legend tour! Definitely a must-try, if you like gore and
witchcraft! Learned that the city’s roads are laden with the dead
during a plague, a famous lady who bathed in young ladies’ blood and
witches who were burned to death!
Čumil, The Watcher. All around the historic
city, one can find different statues that add a
modern touch to the center. This one is said
to grant wishes when you touch his head. Be
sure to look for him when you visit!
