Administrative Information<br />
Residence Hall Staff<br />
All residence hall staff members are College <strong>of</strong>ficials and as such are empowered to issue directions to any<br />
<strong>Student</strong>, guest, or visitor. Failure to comply with the legitimate directions <strong>of</strong> a staff member in any residence hall<br />
or at any residence hall sponsored event may result in appropriate disciplinary action.<br />
Director <strong>of</strong> Housing and Residential Life, Resident Director and Resident Assistant<br />
Each Residence Hall has a Resident Director (RD) or Resident Assistants (RA) who are responsible for supporting<br />
individual <strong>Student</strong>s and for working with residents to develop the building community. The Residential Life team<br />
consists <strong>of</strong> leaders who are selected to coordinate programs, provide counseling, mediate roommate conflicts, act<br />
as resource persons, and interpret College policy. Staff members are readily available and work closely with<br />
students to make on-campus life a unique and enriching experience.<br />
The housing <strong>of</strong>fice is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and is staffed with the Director <strong>of</strong> Housing<br />
and Residential Life as well as student staff. In the evening RAs and RDs are on duty from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m.<br />

Right <strong>of</strong> Inspection<br />
Right <strong>of</strong> Entry<br />
The College reserves the right <strong>of</strong> entry into a <strong>Student</strong>’s assigned living space for inspection, improvement, repairs,<br />
or housekeeping during reasonable hours or at any time in the case <strong>of</strong> epidemic or other circumstances <strong>of</strong> any<br />
emergency nature posing a threat to life, limb, health, or property. During Winter Break and Spring Break,<br />
housekeeping will enter and clean the bathrooms located inside resident hall rooms.<br />
Room Inspection Policy<br />
The College reserves the right for its employees (Residential Life, Maintenance, Public Safety, etc.) to enter and<br />
inspect a residence room in the interests <strong>of</strong> the health, safety, and proper conduct <strong>of</strong> the residents, or the orderly<br />
and efficient administration and operation <strong>of</strong> the residential system, or to maintain or repair the premises. Entry<br />
may be made at any time, whether or not the resident is present, and without prior notice to the resident, if<br />
emergency, health, or safety circumstances warrant such entry or to determine whether any substance, material<br />
or item is being kept or used on the premises in any manner prohibited by law or by the rules/regulations <strong>of</strong> the<br />
College or for other purposes <strong>of</strong> maintaining law and order. If entry is needed for a scheduled fire safety<br />
inspection, then the College will attempt to inform residents by posting a notice in the residence halls. However,<br />
this is only possible in cases where the fire department has given the College prior notice. Entry may be made at<br />
any time, whether or not the resident is present, and without prior notice to the resident, if emergency, health, or<br />
safety circumstances warrant such entry or if there are reasonable grounds to believe that any substance, material<br />
or item is being kept or used on the premises in any manner prohibited by law or by the rules/regulations <strong>of</strong> the<br />
College. Residents who fail to comply with the safety, health, and maintenance standards may be subject to<br />
disciplinary action.<br />
Assignment/Reassignment<br />
The College reserves the right to make all assignments and to make any assignment changes or transfers<br />
considered necessary. Assignments are made by date <strong>of</strong> application without discrimination. The Director <strong>of</strong><br />
Residential Life makes room assignments for first-year <strong>Student</strong>s. If you wish to secure on-campus housing for the<br />
