2 BY GULDSMEDEN HOTELS REDUCE REUSE RECYCLE AX EL Guldsmeden opened its first 129 rooms in 2007, in a beautiful turn-of-the-century building, and now houses 212 rooms in total, after taking over the hotel on the neighbouring street. Axel is our biggest hotel in terms of number of rooms, and with its gorgeous garden courtyard and green pavilion, Axel quickly became a pet favourite of the sustainabilty-oriented media and eco-conscious travellers who still want a certain level of comfort and quality, and was the first of the Guldsmeden Hotels to achieve the golden Ø and Green Globe certification. For a number of years, Axel was the place where we developed and tried out new ideas – and if they worked here, we would incorporate them in the rest of the Guldsmeden Hotels. If they didn´t work – well, we´ve probably had fun trying them out! Axels rooms include 2 amazing penthouse suites with their own private rooftop terrace and hot-tub. And if you have time, don´t miss a trip to the Axel Spa while you´re here – it´s such a beautiful and relaxing space. Or just come down to the lounge and courtyard, we love it when our guests hang out with us! Tips for a sustainable STAY As you possibly already know, you are staying at a Green Globe certified hotel with a strong sustainability-conscious focus. This may sound a bit dull, serious and abstinent, but we promise you we´re not! We love good fun, good wine & good food – and lots of it! In the meantime, we want to give you the opportunity to join in the good work.. You can make a huge difference in a variety of ways – not all of them may be to your taste, and there´s no pressure - but here come a few tips, some of them might even be useful when you´re back home again. 1Cardboard and glass items should be left on the desk or floor in the room, where our housekeeping will sort it further. It´s easier for us to sort it correctly, when it is not placed in the trash bin. Batteries can also be left on the desk in your room or handed in at the reception. 2Turn the water off, when brushing your teeth, and limit your showers to 3 minutes. 3Turn off all lamps, TV and radio when leaving the room. 4Even though our bathroom products are 100% organic and biodegradable, and are responsible for 0% micro-plastic in our seas, we still request that you don´t overuse them, as over-dosage and overuse is one of the major pollutants in the world today. We have a strong focus on not over-using our cleaning products as well, even though they live up to the same strict standards as the rest of our products. 5Some like it hot! And some like it cooler – but please turn off the heating when opening windows. 6We recycle! More or less everything! Plastic bags that you leave behind are folded and packaged for re-use by other guests; books and magazines that you leave behind are brought to the lobby for the enjoyment of others. Pens, pads and pencils are happily reused in reception and back-office, and since many bottles and cans are in a “return” system in Denmark, where they get washed and re-used as they are, we make sure to return the ones you leave behind. So no need to fill up the trash can with all your leftovers, our scavenging tendencies are more easily met when we can see what´s what. We love getting ideas, and are always in the process of implementing something new - if you have any good tips to share with us, questions or comments, these are most welcome! It is our aim to be organic, fair-trade and biodegradable wherever possible - all the good food and drink that you enjoy when staying with us is 100% organic! Have a wonderful stay! BABETTE OUR FLOWER CHILD LIVES IN THE QUEEN’S BACKYARD Babette Guldsmeden is the first Copenhagen hotel outside what has traditionally been our comfort zone of Vesterbro. We´re loving it here, the location is just as unique in a completely different way. The building, with all its charming nooks and crannies is a pleasure to be in, and we´re very proud of the orangerie in particular, linking the two parts of the house. The courtyard to the back is a little oasis, and with the coloured strings of lights, comfy couches, and mini wall-mounted fireplaces, it´s a wonderful place to unwind. Experience all the best that green Copenhagen has to offer! gogreendenmark.dk Babette Guldsmeden is probably the one of our hotels with the most details, so make sure to take a walk around the premises! Our lovely resort in Ubud offers private villas with pools, each of the villas unique in its own way. We have enjoyed designing our spaces with a combination of traditional Balinese and Asian, united with simple nordic lines. Each villa with private pool is just a few steps from breath-taking views of rice fields and the tropical rain forest. A lovely trail will take you from Chapung SeBali to Ubud, Bali´s lively and colourful cultural centre, full of local shops, cafés and restaurants. ythis house very quickly became a favourite of ours and of our regular guests. For some reason that we can´t quite define, Guldsmeden and the people of Norway have a very special connection – and we do believe that it shows in the relaxed and warm atmosphere of the Oslo Guldsmeden. The entire lower floor is given over to the café and lounge area, and its cosy comfiness is like a warm hug when you come in from the cold! In the summertime, the long and light Nordic evenings beckon you to explore the vibrant neighbourhood before returning home to a good night´s sleep. In case your room has a balcony, you´re welcome to smoke out there, as long as you keep the doors to your room closed. Or even better, join us in our courtyards, we love the company! In case of whimsical weather we will make sure that you can wrap yourself in a lovely blanket. Moderate use of e-cigarettes is allowed in the room. Bertrams Bertrams Guldsmeden is the smallest of the Guldsmeden Hotels in Copenhagen, and this 47-room oasis opened in 2005. The whole ground floor of Bertram’s consists of cozy lounge areas, café and garden, and is available to all guests round the clock. There are so many great places in this neighborhood – a huge selection of restaurants & cafés, great shopping if you´re after something cool and unusual, art galleries and music venues, and lovely parks just a short walk away.
