Assessment pages
Three assessment pages are provided in each section. The first two
offer a means to assess student knowledge and understanding of
the concepts covered in the section. The third provides a selfassessment
opportunity for students to communicate their opinion
on the development of their understanding of the work covered.
The front pages
The front pages of Australian Curriculum Economics and business –
Financial and business decisions Year 6 have two main functions:
• to support the delivery of the classroom activities, and
• to assist teachers in the recording and reporting of Economics and
business in curriculum coverage and in student achievement.
The front pages include:
• differentiation strategies for students who need support or extension
• additional activities related to each Key inquiry question to help develop the concepts of Economics and business
• a glossary of terms
• scope and sequence charts
The scope and sequence charts identify the individual pages which touch on the various aspects of the Economics
and business sub-strand of the HASS curriculum, and how the achievement standards of individual students can be
recorded. The charts include:
– HASS Key ideas with Economics and business illustrations
– HASS Inquiry and skills
– HASS Inquiry and skills linking specifically to the Economics and business sub-strand
– HASS Concepts of interdisciplinary thinking with the Economics and business illustrations covered
– cross-curriculum links
– HASS Achievement standards for Economics and business
– HASS Achievement standards student checklist
