OCTOBER EVENTS
NOTTINGHAM COUNTRY GARDEN CLUB
On Thursday, October 4, 2018, Nottingham
Country Garden Club (NCGC) will feature Linda
Gay with a presentation on “Bulbs Naturalized
for the Gulf Coast.” Linda is a horticulturist and
gardener by trade. She worked at the Mercer
Botanic Garden for 26 years and the last 11 years
served as Director of the Garden. Additionally,
Linda has worked with McGovern Centennial
Gardens, The Arbor Gate Nursery in Tomball and
teaches horticulture classes at HCC.
Meet and greet time begins at 9:30 AM and the
program will start at 10 AM, followed by the
NCGC meeting. Please join us at the Municipal
Utility Building #81 at 805 Hidden Canyon Drive

people interested in gardening and gardening
related areas from West Houston and the Katy
area. You do not have to live in Nottingham
Country to belong to our group.
NCGC is a non-profit organization affiliated with
the Houston Federation of Garden Clubs, the Texas
Garden Clubs and the National Federation of Garden
Clubs. The purpose of the club is to promote
beautification in the community, support local and
national education and charitable organizations
and educate the community about our environment.
Donations from the NCGC are funded by our
annual Spring Sale and projects that vary each year.
CINCO RANCH LADIES CLUB
The Cinco Ranch Ladies Club (CRLC) is a 501(c)3
providing residents in Katy and surrounding
cities with activities, both social and charitable.
We designate charities each year as recipients for
our fundraising events. We typically meet each
month as an entire club at The Golf Club at Cinco
Ranch at 7 PM to partake in themed events such
as a Chili Cook Off, Halloween Party, Craft Fairs,
Silent Auction, Line Dancing, Self--Defense Class,
Favorite Things Exchange and Luau.
We also offer about 22 sub-clubs that each
meet once a month on a small scale in residents
homes, businesses, restaurants and walking
trails. A few special interest clubs are Book,
Business Network, Bunco, Coffee, Craft, Dining,
Lunch, Ladies Night Out, Movie, Garden, Game
Night, Meditation, Wine, Walking and more. $35
annual dues for all the social and charitable fun.

by the brand new Katy-Fort Bend County
Texas Exes Chapter and is open to alumni and
football fans alike. Event time TBD once kick-off

VIOLET CLUB ANNUAL FALL SALE

Free Admission
Violets of all types such as standards, miniatures,
semi-miniatures and trailers will be available.
Other Gesneriads such as Episcias and Streps
and supplies such as potting soil, pots and
fertilizers will also be featured. Club members
will be available to answer general questions
on growing African Violets. Workshop will be
held at 1 PM Saturday and Sunday. For further

ART COLONY ASSOCIATION
TO CELEBRATE 47 YEARS WITH
BAYOU CITY ART FESTIVAL DOWNTOWN
The Art Colony Association, Inc. (ACA) will celebrate
47 years of fine art and giving back to
local non-profits as it spotlights 300 artists at
Bayou City Art Festival in Downtown Houston,
Saturday and Sunday, October 13-14, 2018, 10
AM - 6 PM at 901 Bagby Street. Cost $12 online
and $15 at the gate.
The sophisticated gallery will transform the
streets of Downtown into artistic avenues
bursting with colors and culture. As one of the
top outdoor fine art festivals in the U.S., the
weekend festival will provide guests with the
opportunity to see and purchase unique, custom
art under the iconic Houston skyline. Bayou
City Art Festival Downtown will benefit local
non-profits and feature live music in front of City
Hall and throughout the festival along with entertainment,
beverage stations, food trucks and
much more for patrons to enjoy. In the Children’s
Creative Zone, the festival’s non-profit partners
will host art activities for all ages and include a
cool interactive place to hang out.
Celebrating 47 years since the founding of the
Westheimer Art Festival, now known as Bayou
City Art Festival, ACA has provided a venue for
over 20,000 artists to showcase their work to
thousands of art lovers from all over the world.
Every year, a new jury selects participating
artists, some new and some returning. This
helps create a fresh and different festival year
after year.

The 2 nd Annual Westland’s Welcome Home
Craft Show will be held October 6, 2018 at
Westland Baptist Church. We are located at
1407 W Grand Parkway South in Katy. Interested

booth space is $60. Only one national/retail
rep will be accepted on a first come basis.
