OCTOBER EVENTS<br />
NOTTINGHAM COUNTRY GARDEN CLUB<br />
On Thursday, <strong>October</strong> 4, <strong>2018</strong>, Nottingham<br />
Country Garden Club (NCGC) will feature Linda<br />
Gay with a presentation on “Bulbs Naturalized<br />
for the Gulf Coast.” Linda is a horticulturist and<br />
gardener by trade. She worked at the Mercer<br />
Botanic Garden for 26 years and the last 11 years<br />
served as Director of the Garden. Additionally,<br />
Linda has worked with McGovern Centennial<br />
Gardens, The Arbor Gate Nursery in Tomball and<br />
teaches horticulture classes at HCC.<br />
Meet and greet time begins at 9:30 AM and the<br />
program will start at 10 AM, followed by the<br />
NCGC meeting. Please join us at the Municipal<br />
Utility Building #81 at 805 Hidden Canyon Drive<br />

people interested in gardening and gardening<br />
related areas from West Houston and the Katy<br />
area. You do not have to live in Nottingham<br />
Country to belong to our group.<br />
NCGC is a non-profit organization affiliated with<br />
the Houston Federation of Garden Clubs, the Texas<br />
Garden Clubs and the National Federation of Garden<br />
Clubs. The purpose of the club is to promote<br />
beautification in the community, support local and<br />
national education and charitable organizations<br />
and educate the community about our environment.<br />
Donations from the NCGC are funded by our<br />
annual Spring Sale and projects that vary each year.<br />
CINCO RANCH LADIES CLUB<br />
The Cinco Ranch Ladies Club (CRLC) is a 501(c)3<br />
providing residents in Katy and surrounding<br />
cities with activities, both social and charitable.<br />
We designate charities each year as recipients for<br />
our fundraising events. We typically meet each<br />
month as an entire club at The Golf Club at Cinco<br />
Ranch at 7 PM to partake in themed events such<br />
as a Chili Cook Off, Halloween Party, Craft Fairs,<br />
Silent Auction, Line Dancing, Self--Defense Class,<br />
Favorite Things Exchange and Luau.<br />
We also offer about 22 sub-clubs that each<br />
meet once a month on a small scale in residents<br />
homes, businesses, restaurants and walking<br />
trails. A few special interest clubs are Book,<br />
Business Network, Bunco, Coffee, Craft, Dining,<br />
Lunch, Ladies Night Out, Movie, Garden, Game<br />
Night, Meditation, Wine, Walking and more. $35<br />
annual dues for all the social and charitable fun.<br />

ART COLONY ASSOCIATION<br />
TO CELEBRATE 47 YEARS WITH<br />
BAYOU CITY ART FESTIVAL DOWNTOWN<br />
The Art Colony Association, Inc. (ACA) will celebrate<br />
47 years of fine art and giving back to<br />
local non-profits as it spotlights 300 artists at<br />
Bayou City Art Festival in Downtown Houston,<br />
Saturday and Sunday, <strong>October</strong> 13-14, <strong>2018</strong>, 10<br />
AM - 6 PM at 901 Bagby Street. Cost $12 online<br />
and $15 at the gate.<br />
The sophisticated gallery will transform the<br />
streets of Downtown into artistic avenues<br />
bursting with colors and culture. As one of the<br />
top outdoor fine art festivals in the U.S., the<br />
weekend festival will provide guests with the<br />
opportunity to see and purchase unique, custom<br />
art under the iconic Houston skyline. Bayou<br />
City Art Festival Downtown will benefit local<br />
non-profits and feature live music in front of City<br />
Hall and throughout the festival along with entertainment,<br />
beverage stations, food trucks and<br />
much more for patrons to enjoy. In the Children’s<br />
Creative Zone, the festival’s non-profit partners<br />
will host art activities for all ages and include a<br />
cool interactive place to hang out.<br />
Celebrating 47 years since the founding of the<br />
Westheimer Art Festival, now known as Bayou<br />
City Art Festival, ACA has provided a venue for<br />
over 20,000 artists to showcase their work to<br />
thousands of art lovers from all over the world.<br />
Every year, a new jury selects participating<br />
artists, some new and some returning. This<br />
helps create a fresh and different festival year<br />
after year.<br />
