O’Connor said the name Candlewood would also avoid confusion with the neighboring properties. The Greenbelt is calling its tract the Castle Neck River Reservation. The state Fish and Wildlife Department is calling its land the Castle Neck River Wildlife Management Area. The task force initially thought the town might rent out the stables to generate revenue, but the building, constructed in 1985, needed too many repairs. School Safety Measures Added Triton is also working with local police departments to implement emergency situation training. Called ALICE for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate, it is designed to thwart an active shooter situation. The system is a step up from the unified protocol that the school district implemented last year. The ALICE training, which involves role playing by teachers and staff, is the respected industry standard for school safety. The district is certifying its own ALICE Certified Trainers along with members of each of the Newbury, Rowley, and Salisbury police departments. When the faculty and staff are trained, the schools will begin conducting drills on various scenarios. On its 30 acres, the town is building four athletic fields, suitable for soccer, lacrosse and other field sports. If needed, two more fields could be built later. Scheduling will be handled by the Parks and Cemeteries Department. Residents of Ipswich “have been very patient,” O’Connor said. The fields look like “you could just put out the nets and start playing.” It took time for the town to secure the permits from town boards and work with wetland specialists, she said.
