Simply South Gift & Craft Fair
Bergvliet, Cape Town
Fun for the whole family, with many amazing gifts
and crafts to browse and buy. This three-week
long fair takes place indoors at the NG Kerk (Dutch
Reformed Church) in Bergvliet.
1-2 December
Cap Classique & Champagne
Festival Franschhoek
Enjoy the best of South Africa’s bubbly at this
fun event for champagne aficionados and the
entire family. There’s also plenty of good food,
entertainment and other things to do, all within
the fabulous Franschhoek valley and village.
Make a note of this one, although final dates and
programme are still to be announced.
3 December
Adderley Street Festive Lights Switchon
Cape Town
Being one of the premier holiday destinations in
the world, this is another unique fun tradition in the
Mother City with a carnival-like atmosphere. At this
event each year the Mayor of Cape Town switches
on the festive season street lights in Adderley Street.
Lots of entertainment and food stalls. The event also
signals the start of the night street market when the
city centre is closed to traffic, and dozens of stalls sell
food, beverages and all sorts of other things.
4 December
Community Chest Twilight Run
Cape Town Central
Each December the Cape Town city centre is filled
to capacity for a run at which no winner is declared
and no medals are awarded, and there isn’t even a
timekeeper! It’s just for the fun! And to raise money
for a good cause. The race attracts more than
8,000 participants and spectators each year, many
of them dressed up in ridiculous costumes for the
event.
