• POKÉMON CLUB AT CLAY’S RESTAURANT - 1 st<br />

Thursday of the month, 4:30 PM. All school<br />

age children are invited to come and bring their<br />

Pokémon Cards or Nintendo DS for this event.<br />

We ask that parents remain at Clay’s for the<br />

duration of the program. We hope to see you<br />

there! Clay’s Restaurant is located at 17717 Clay<br />

Road, Houston, TX 77084.<br />

• GAME NIGHT AT CLAY’S RESTAURANT - 1 st<br />

Thursday of the month, 6 PM, 17717 Clay Rd.,<br />

Houston, TX 77084. Bring the whole family to<br />

play games with us at Clay’s Restaurant! We<br />

will have several board games to play or bring<br />

your own!<br />

• PASSPORT SERVICES - Mondays, <strong>October</strong> 8 th<br />

and 15 th , 12 PM to 6:30 PM. Come to the library<br />

to apply for your passport or renew one. The<br />

person receiving the passport must be present.<br />

make an appointment or for more information.<br />

Walk-ins are also accepted.<br />

• 3D PRINTING DEMO OF SUGAR SKULLS -<br />

Wednesday, <strong>October</strong> 10 th , 6:30 PM. Come to<br />

the library to watch our Makerbot print out<br />

sugar skulls as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage<br />

Month. Then take a sugar skull home! We will<br />

talk about the library’s maker services and you<br />

can watch the 3D printer in action!<br />

• PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB - Friday, <strong>October</strong> 12 th ,<br />

4:30 PM. Improve your photography skills, participate<br />

in our fun monthly challenges, share<br />

your art with others and get inspired! Open to<br />

all levels of expertise!<br />

• GET READING! CUPCAKE EDITION - Saturday,<br />

<strong>October</strong> 13 th , 2 PM. It’s teen read week and<br />

we will be celebrating by decorating cupcakes<br />

using inspiration from your favorite books. A<br />

vote for the best cupcakes will be taken and<br />

the winners will win gift cards. All materials are<br />

provided at no cost.<br />

• BEAR CREEK HEALTH & WELLNESS CLUB -<br />

Tuesday, <strong>October</strong> 2 nd , Tuesday, <strong>October</strong> 16 th<br />

and Tuesday, <strong>October</strong> 30 th , 1 PM. Come build<br />

with us a community of people committed to a<br />

healthier and happier life. We will be seeking this<br />

through group discussion and sharing information,<br />

ideas and personal experiences. This club is open<br />

to everyone & newcomers are always welcome.<br />

• IRA PLANNING - Saturday, <strong>October</strong> 13 th , 10<br />

AM. Come to this free program to make the<br />

most of your IRA savings. Or, learn how to get<br />

started and why you may want to consider<br />

opening an IRA account. Determine how to plan<br />

for withdraw amounts in your current or future<br />

retirement. This presentation on IRA Planning<br />

will be given by Karin Tyson.<br />

• TEEN ANIME CLUB - Wednesday, <strong>October</strong> 17 th ,<br />

6 PM. Join us as we watch anime, eat Pocky and<br />

other fun snacks, make crafts and more. The film<br />

this week is rated PG-13 and additional details<br />

can be provided by contacting the library.<br />

• GULF COAST READS BOOK DISCUSSION/<br />

MYSTERY BOOK CLUB - Thursday, <strong>October</strong> 18 th ,<br />

11 AM. We are combining this month’s Mystery<br />

Book Club with the Gulf Coast Reads Discussion.<br />

Each year we discuss the Gulf Coast Reads Book<br />

and this year it happens to by a mystery! So<br />

we’re reading Bluebird, Bluebird by Attica Locke.<br />

This is a thrilling novel full of mystery, intrigue,<br />

injustices over race, property and love. Please<br />

join us for this Gulf Coast Reads Discussion. And/<br />

or read the mystery book previously planned,<br />

which is The Heist by Daniel Silva. Both books<br />

will make for an interesting discussion!<br />

• WRITERS’ WORKSHOP WITH HOUSTON<br />

WRITERS GUILD “Using Poetry in Prose” - Saturday,<br />

<strong>October</strong> 27 th , 10:30 AM-12 PM. Come to<br />

the library to develop your writing skills with<br />

excellent advice from the Houston Writers Guild!<br />

Today the focus will be on using poetry in prose.<br />

Learn how and when it is best to incorporate<br />

poetry into your work.<br />

• CONVERSATIONAL ESL - Thursdays, 2 PM. Join<br />

our free Conversational ESL class each week.<br />

Attendees will need to fill out an application.<br />

Everyone is welcome. Please join us!<br />

• SAVVY STITCHERS - Thursdays, 3:30 PM. The<br />

Savvy Stitchers is a place to share ideas for different<br />

crafts such as knitting and crochet! Don’t<br />

miss out on the weekly fun! Make sure to bring<br />

your needles and yarn. All ages welcome.<br />

• SOCIAL CRAFTERS - Saturdays at 10 AM. Join<br />

our new social crafting group! Are you working<br />

on a craft or fabric arts project now? Bring a<br />

project to the library and share your ideas with<br />

others. Or, just come to learn more about crafts<br />

you may want to try. All are welcome!<br />

• LILY’S LIBRARY TALES - Every Saturday at<br />

2 PM. Come to the library for a family friendly<br />

storytime with Lily, a certified therapy dog! This<br />

library program is in partnership with Tender<br />

Loving K-9s. All ages welcome.<br />

• MOONLIGHT BABYTIME - Monday, <strong>October</strong><br />

22 nd , 6:30 PM. Moonlight Baby Time is an early<br />

literacy program for children ages birth to 18<br />

months. Please join us as we share literacy tips,<br />

stories, songs, fingerplays, bubbles and books.<br />

In order to ensure the safety of our youngest<br />

patrons, this is a ticketed program. Free tickets<br />

available 30 minutes before the start of the<br />

program.<br />

• BILINGUAL STORYTIME - Friday, <strong>October</strong><br />

26 th , 1:30 PM. Bilingual storytime and activities<br />

for children 3-7 and their parent/caregivers.<br />

• PRESCHOOL STORYTIME - Tuesdays at 10:30<br />

AM. Early literacy program with stories, songs,<br />

finger plays and the occasional craft geared towards<br />

preschoolers aged 3-6 yrs old. In order to<br />

ensure the safety of our youngest patrons, this is a<br />

ticketed program. Free tickets are available on the<br />

morning of the program. First come, first served.<br />

• SUNSHINE BABYTIME - Wednesdays, at 10:30<br />

AM. Sunshine Babytime is an early literacy program<br />

for the children ages birth to 18 months.<br />

• COMMUNITY STORYTIME AT CLAY’S RESTAU-<br />

RANT - Wednesdays, at 2:30 PM. Community<br />

Storytime is an early literacy program for children<br />

ages 18 months to 6 years. Come join us at<br />

Clay’s Restaurant, 17717 Clay Road, as we share<br />

literacy tips, stories, songs and fingerplays. Each<br />

week this storytime will be an adaption of our<br />

library’s preschool or toddler program. We want<br />

to thank Clay’s Restaurant for partnering with us<br />

in providing community storytime.<br />
