FROM THE PASTOR
Dear Church Family,
This week, after all the storms passed through, I was certain I could feel the first hints of cooler
weather. The seasons are changing. Soon the leaves will be turning and dropping, the fall decorations will
be out, and any day now the stores will start playing Christmas music.
We go through many changing seasons in our lives as well: seasons of new experiences and new
possibilities, seasons of grief, seasons of struggle, seasons of contentment and reflection. Our world around
us is always changing like the constantly changing seasons, except the changes in our world are not nearly
so dependable as the changing of the seasons.
But whatever happens in our country, whatever happens in our world, whatever happens with the economy
or with our loved ones, there is one thing we can count on never to change: our God is always reliable and
dependable. His word never passes away.
As we sing in the old hymn: "Great is thy faithfulness, O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with
thee; thou changest not, thy compassions they fail not; as thou hast been, thou for ever wilt be.
I hope to see you Sunday at the place where we remember and celebrate his faithfulness!
May the Lord Jesus Christ bless and keep you+

WHAT’S HAPPENING
-Give Thanks Always-
Thank you to John Bel, Facilities Manager, for working constantly to make sure our church is
at its best. John has been busy painting in the Robb House, replacing and repairing what
needs attention and planning for the upcoming Church Work Day on Saturday, Oct. 27.
Thank you to the ACTS Luncheon team led by Beryl Gene Daniel. August kicked off the Fall
season for ACTS with delicious food, music, faith and great fellowship with members of the
church and the entire community.
Thank you to Grant & Sarah Ollenburger for leading the Youth Group on Thursday evenings
in the interim. Our youth have been enjoying the food, fun, faith & friends each week.
Thank you to all of the church members who serve on committees and those who have
agreed to serve in 2019. Church leadership is an important way our members serve the
church and we are so grateful for their time and talents.
Thank you Rene & Terry Carlin for folding the Sunday worship service bulletins each week.
They are so giving of their time and have been for many years.
SFUMC is a prayer partner for The Upper Room Prayer. Prayer calls are taken
once a month on a Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the
church office. If you feel you would like to become a part of this important
ministry and volunteer to answer calls, please contact the church office.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
WEDNESDAYS
On Unity Night school aged children (PreK-
5 th ) will meet every first Wednesday of the
month, aligning with the WFPSB Unity Night.
Join us each month for a high-energy, fun
night of food, games, crafts, and learning to
love and trust the Lord.

SUNDAY SCHOOOL
Grade school children will meet in the Children’s
Ministry room in the Fellowship Hall each
Sunday 9:45-10:40 for Sunday School. Our
wonderful rotation of teachers will continue
teaching this fall, and lessons will be structured
to teach children the scripture lessons that they
will also hear in Worship/Children’s Church.
There will also be a time designated each Sunday
for our “Bible Line,” where kids will become
more familiar with the Bible and how it can
serve as a tool for their everyday lives.
SUNDAY SCHOOL 9:45-10:40
CHILDREN’s CHURCH
Children’s Church will be available to any
child on Sunday mornings during each of the
worship services.
Following a Children’s
Moment in the Sanctuary, children will be led
to the CHASE building where they will stay for
the remainder of the service. Toddlers will play
and sing, and grade-school children will hear a
scriptural message designed especially for their
understanding that will mirror Rev. Daniels
message.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRY
CHASE MINISTRIES
The SFUMC Children’s Ministry is
putting a strong emphasis on
collaborating with the CHASE program
this Fall. In addition to the weekly
chapel service, the 3-year old class will
join Miss Liz in the Children’s Ministry
room once weekly to learn the ABC’s of
the Bible, sing church songs, and do
bible crafts. Additionally, Mrs. Coco will
lead a music class each week in the
preschool.
The Aftercare Program will be invited
and encouraged to take part in Unity
Night each month, along with our
SFUMC families.

9:45 Youth Sunday School Service Project
Operation Christmas Child
Gift Box for Girl or Boy Ages 5-9 Years Old
Our Goal is to pack 30 shoe boxes
We need YOUR help by donating empty shoe boxes in October.
The Sunday Youth Class will find-purchase items for each box.
Should you want to donate items, these are suggestions.
WOW ITEM***
Comb, Hairbrush, Toothbrush, Washcloth, Bar soap (packaged and/or in a container)
Adhesive bandages, (Colorful ones can help a child be more willing to wear a bandage. Do
not include liquid antibiotic ointment.)
Reusable plastic containers: cup, water bottle, plate, bowl, blunt-edged utensils
(Consider filling an empty container with non-liquid items such as hair bows, bracelets,
sunglasses, or washcloths to maximize the space.)
Blanket, Non-liquid lip balm, Flashlight, (solar-powered or hand-crank; if battery operated,
be sure to include extra batteries of the type needed)
Compact mirror
Pencils, Small manual pencil sharpener
Erasers, Colored pencils, Pencil case, Pens, Crayons, Markers, Notebooks, Blank index
cards
Solar-powered calculator, Scissors, Ruler, Protractor, Glue stick (Do not include liquid
glue.), Small adhesive tape
Shirts and pants, Pillowcase dress (loose-fitting sundress), Underwear
Shoes and socks, Flip-flops, Hat/scarf/mittens, Sunglasses, Tote bag/purse, Hair bows
Friendship bracelets (woven with yarn or embroidery thread)
Foam ball
Kickball (Make sure to include a manual air pump so that the ball can be inflated.)
Baseball and mitt, Tennis ball, Plastic dinosaurs, animals, action figures (nothing warrelated)
Toy cars, Yo-yo, Small Frisbee, Small kite, Etch A Sketch, Hacky sack
You may enclose a note to the child and a photo of yourself, your family, or group. If
you include your name and an address, the child may be able to write back.
Do Not Include: Candy; toothpaste; gum; used or damaged items; war-related items such as toy guns, knives, or
military figures; chocolate or food; seeds; fruit rolls or other fruit snacks; drink mixes (powdered or liquid); liquids or
lotions; medications or vitamins; breakable items such as snow globes or glass containers; aerosol cans

Our Meals & Fellowship Team needs volunteers to prepare & deliver
meals to members of the congregation and their immediate families
during an illness, following a surgery and the death of a family
member. The Meals & Fellowship Team also prepares & serves food
at church fellowship events and at funerals for members of the church congregation. This is such a
vital ministry of the church and we hope you will give your time to help care for our church family.
