The Central Valley Corvette Club was
chartered in 1991 for the owners of the only
real AMERICAN sports car, the awesome
CORVETTE. It is a social organization with
activities that provide enjoyment for the true
Corvette lover.
MONTHLY MEETINGS ARE HELD
AT 6.30 P.M. ON THE 3 RD TUESDAY
OF EVERY MONTH AT YOSEMITE
FALLS CAFE, 4278 W. ASHLAN AVE,

OUR MEMBERS.
Club activities include monthly meetings,
car shows, weekend Club activities,
overnighters, picnics, road rallies, summer
cruises, holiday get-to-gathers and more!
Eligibility for membership in CVC is
defined in Article III, section 1 of the
bylaws in part as follows: "Membership in
Central Valley Corvettes shall be open to all
Corvette owners who are sponsored by a
member in good standing. Additionally, a
prospective member must, within a three
month period, attend two consecutive
meetings, participate in two club sanctioned
social activities, pay current membership
dues and initiation fees, and be approved by
two-thirds vote of membership present at a
general membership meeting by secret
ballot.
Sponsors shall be responsible for advising
prospective member of results. All members
must submit proof of personal insurance in
accordance with California State Law upon
application for membership, and all
members must be a member of the
association providing club liability insurance
for CENTRAL VALLEY CORVETTES.
A prospective member who does not have a
sponsor will be provided one by the
membership committee. Non-members may
not participate in more than three meetings
or two sanctioned activities as per CVC
Bylaws.
CVC membership dues are $67.00 plus an
initiation fee of $35.00. Membership entitles
two members at the same address voting
privileges at meetings (provided they are in
good standing) and membership rights.

General Meeting Minutes 9-18-18
The General Meeting was called to order
by VP of Activities Dick Danielsen at
6:30pm. Minutes from the August
meeting were read. Tom Jarvis made a
motion to accept the minutes as read,
Chuck Laningham seconded. Darlene
Derringer gave the
Treasurer’s report.
Tonight’s raffle
brought in $275.
Winners

VP of Public Relations Dick Johnson
introduced Joyce Kroeker’s guests,
Joseph & Erica Costa. They are ½ way to
joining our club, as they attended the
Club picnic also. Gail Tavares was voted
into our club tonight as she has
completed her requirements. Birthdays
totaled 430 years. This month’s winner
of the Panera gift card for the longest
marriage goes to the Danielsen’s at 47
years. VP of Activities, Dick Danielsen –
went over future runs. Car Shows, Ice
Cream, Japanese Gardens, Potlucks,
Movies and Plays are all in the mix.

Joyce Kroeker for once again providing
the PERFECT place for our annual
picnic. Gary Pflepsen passed out ballots
for nominations for the 2019-2020
Board. All positions are open. He will
again collect nominations at the
October meeting. We will then vote at
the November meeting. Please
remember, if you have missed more
than 4 General meetings in 2018, you
are ineligible to vote or hold office.
Chuck Laningham collected $2.50 in
badge fines. Debbie Garrison gave a
newsy Sunshine and Clouds report.
Charlie Fosnaugh gave Joyce Kroeker a
printed copy of last month’s newsletter
full of memories of Ed Kroeker.
Chuck Laningham made a motion to
adjourn the meeting at 7:26pm. Frieda
Null seconded. Next Board meeting will

Last month we said goodbye and God speed to our dear friend Ed Kroeker at a wonderful
gathering of friends and family. Joyce sent us this:
Thanks to all of you for your prayers and showing such love and caring thoughts in the
loss of Ed. Thank you to those members who were able to attend the services, we know
not that everyone was able to be there, thank you for the wonderful food. The showing
of love has been such a blessing and comfort to us. Our membership in CVC has been an
important part of our lives for over 20 years. I’m sure Ed loved the escort of love to the
cemetery, thank you for that. Remember “Make memories, don’t just settle for wishes.”
I’m sure all of us; I know I am so grateful that I knew Ed. He was a great friend, He and
Joyce and their entire Family have always been great friends to this Club.
As I announced last month Tom and Marcie Jarvis were involved in a car accident on their
way back from the Colorado Run; their car did end up being totaled by the insurance
company. They were able to find a beautiful new replacement-a 2007 Atomic Orange
Indianapolis 500 Pace car with only 35,000 miles on it and they already brought it to it’s
first run.
Kim and Charlie Fosnaugh are happy to share some exciting news-they are going to be
grandparents again! The new baby will be born in February. Their granddaughter 4-year
old Kylee is very excited to become a big sister.
Julie and David Sons became grandparents for the 9 th time a few weeks ago to a baby girl
named Jessica Lynn. She was born with a kidney condition and will have a procedure next
month and then another when she’s a bit older. Please keep her in your prayers. They
also took a drive in their corvette to Lodi to join the celebration of their granddaughter
Audra’s 16 th birthday. Love our Grandbabies!!
Nancy and Art White sent us a little update on their summer escapades. They have been
enjoying the cooler Pacific North West summer aboard their little tug, Puffin. We were in
Gig Harbor at the time of our meeting and then they were going to Tacoma then back up
to Puget Sound to Poulsbo to finish up the boating season in Washington. Then they will
return to Port Townsend to load the boat on the trailer and head south to California. We
plan to put Puffin into a marina in Stockton, so they can do some Delta exploring.

They will see us at the October meeting. Reminded one and all to stay safe, have fun and
enjoy each day. Good Advice!
Charlotte Renna’s daughter Michelle has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She had a
procedure the day of meeting; a lumpectomy and only had one lymph node removed.
The oncologist said everything looked good. She will be having radiation to follow up.
Prayers are always welcome.
For those of you that know Mike and Sheryl Paul, Sheryl has also been diagnosed with
Grade 3 Triple Negative breast cancer, she has had the lump, lymph nodes and a
mediport placed in her chest. Her pathology results came back clear of cancer, but she is
looking at 4-5 months of chemo. They have been through a lot in the past four years
between Mike’s tumor and all they went through with that, the loss of his Mother and
now this. So, keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
As I go to press so to speak, I heard from our friend and past members Allyn and Marilyn
Goodall. They wanted us to share with us that Allyn’s 97-year-old Mom is now in hospice
care. Our thoughts are with you, Allyn and Marilyn.

Mid-Engined Corvette Spied On A Speedy Run

The new Corvette shows off plenty of performance in this clip!
A new spy video shows the mid-engined Chevrolet Corvette traveling to and from
the Nürburgring Nordschleife and pushing very hard around the famous track. Chevy's
engineers aren't ready to stop stripping camouflage off the test mules yet.
The clip provides a great comparison of the mid-engined 'Vette's sedate behavior on public
roads and its sharper edge on a circuit. Before and after hitting the track, the sports car's
sound barely rises above a whisper. Once the machine reaches the green hell, things change
immediately. The exhaust gains a meaner, more muscular note.
The driver of this 'Vette rings every ounce of performance out of the car on the Nordschleife.
The machine rides the curbs in practically every corner and takes a very quick line around
the track.
At the end of the clip, there's a chance to see a pair of mid-engined Corvette test mules
together. They're identical other than one having the roof louvers closed, while the holes are
open on the other car. It's not clear yet what Chevy is evaluating with this slight change.
The new 'Vette is allegedly getting three engine options. The base model reportedly retains
the current 6.2-liter V8 with 460 horsepower (343 kilowatts), which we believe powers the car
in this clip. As a mid-range option, there's a twin-turbo 4.2-liter V8 with 650 hp (485 kW). The
ultimate choice would be a twin-turbo 5.5-liter V8 with 850 hp (634 kW). The speed of the
shifts in this video suggests an automatic gearbox of some kind.

The next day if off to Pike’s Peak, when we get thru the gate…

Off to Ouray Inn, in Canyon City…

A quaint little Motel with our Banner printed for us …
And Corvettes with Candy on our beds…

We also went back to the Royal Gorge Canyon to ride the Train for dinner…

With folks from then and now…

So here we go, over 1000 ft. underneath a 300 ton steel bridge originally
built in 1929 with a Cable Car systems on the side, all hanging above our
Vintage 1950’s Narrow Gauge Vista Glass Dome Dinning Cars running
along the bottom of the 30 foot wide Royal Gorge Canyon with the
Arkansas River flowing very fast right next to us…

And what are we worrying about? Eating dinner of course…

With a nice fancy desert, no worries…?

The next day 8 of us took a 2 hour side trip to the Gateway Auto Museum…

The $3.3 Million 1954 Metallic Gold Oldsmobile F-88 GM Concept Car…

After our Museum trip we were back in Ouray for another good dinner…

Day 13, Aug 7 th , we went up the “Million Dollar Highway” to Durango…

Part of the road covered due to constant slides and runoff…

We even saw a dozen of these stealth vehicles, what do you think it was?…

We got out of Colorado Springs just in time (2 days later)…
We boarded our Vintage Durango/Silverton Train on Day 14, Aug. 8 th …

Beautiful view of the Animas River and canyons …

We made to Silverton on our Coal-Fired Steam Locomotive …

And just in time for lunch at the ‘Three Pitts’ …
After sightseeing, back on the Train for the return trip …

Another great adventure…

The next day on our way to Mesa Verde and Puebloan Cliff Dwellings …
The largest cliff dwellings in North America, dating back to 600AD…

Then on to Monument Valley, Utah …

We were actually here at ‘Sleeping Snoopy’ on his 50 th Birthday, 8-10-18…

We had a special ‘back country’ tour with Navajo Guides…

What do you know, they even had a gift shop with a rug weaving demo…

Meanwhile, back at Goulding’s Resort, we took up a collection for Glen
Who was caught speeding about 2 miles over the limit as our sweep…

On the way home via Route 66, we stopped in Seligman, Az…
And had a nice visit with Angel Delgadillo, the Famous Barber…
