Former New Trier and<br />
Loyola educator Alice E.<br />
Miller, 90, died Jan. 6 in<br />
Lincolnshire. She was the<br />
beloved and devoted mother<br />
of Maurice, Michelle<br />
(Frederick) Baird, Merrill<br />
and Merrick (Sue) Miller<br />
and cherished and loving<br />
grandmother of Nathaniel,<br />
Jonah and Caleb Miller.<br />
She was preceded in death<br />
by her parents, Earl and Esther<br />
Woolever, by siblings,<br />
Virginia, Frank, Russell and<br />
Earl Jr. and by her former<br />
husband, Ellard Miller. She<br />
was born in Williamson,<br />
Iowa on Aug. 27, 1927 and<br />
was formerly of Deerfield<br />
and Northbrook, living in<br />
Lincolnshire for the past<br />
seven years. She received<br />
a bachelor’s degree in commerce<br />
from the University<br />
of Iowa and a master’s degree<br />
in education from<br />
Western Illinois University.<br />
Alice taught business classes<br />
at Deerfield, Highland<br />
Park and New Trier High<br />
Schools and was a guidance<br />
counselor at Marillac<br />
High School in Northfield<br />
and Loyola Academy in<br />
Wilmette, where she finished<br />
her career. She was<br />
a devoted member of the<br />
Baha’i Communities of<br />
Deerfield, Northbrook and<br />
Lincolnshire. A memorial<br />
service was held Saturday,<br />
Oct. 6 at the Baha’i House<br />
of Worship, Foundation<br />
Hall (Lower Level), 100<br />
Linden Ave., Wilmette, IL.<br />
Interment was held at Vernon<br />
Cemetery in Lincolnshire.<br />

Thomas Richardson<br />
Thomas Joe Richardson,<br />
69, the former Glencoe<br />
Park district executive<br />
director, died Aug. 21 in<br />
Connecticut after a long<br />
struggle with Alzheimer’s.<br />
He is survived by his<br />
wife Donna Richardson<br />
(Meyer). He was father<br />
to Kristi (Keith) Conley<br />
and Kara (Brian) Lehrer,<br />
grandfather to Dylan and<br />
Aliza Lehrer and Alyssa<br />
and Kelsey Conley, brother<br />
to Debby, Tim (Sharon)<br />
Richardson. He is<br />
preceded in death by his<br />
parents, Thomas and Nell<br />
Richardson and his sister,<br />
Jill. Richardson spent<br />
most of his career in Glencoe<br />
and Glenview as the<br />
executive director of their<br />
park districts. He loved his<br />
job and playing golf. But<br />
more than that, he loved<br />
his family and spending<br />
time together. There was<br />
a celebration of life at the<br />
Lakeview Rooms in Park<br />
Center, Glenview Oct. 7.<br />

Thalmann Jr., 88, a New<br />
Trier graduate, died Oct.<br />
1. Born in Wilmette on<br />
the Fourth of July in 1930.<br />
Thalmann attended New<br />
Trier High School and<br />
Bradley University. He<br />
served in the U.S. Navy<br />
during the Korean War.<br />
Thalmann had an adventurous<br />
spirit and was an<br />
avid sailor. He even made a<br />
trans-Atlantic crossing on a<br />
40 foot sailboat. He was the<br />
beloved husband of the late<br />
Margret nee Goedereis and<br />
the late Marion nee Kessler;<br />
loving father of Lawrence<br />
III (Amy) and Mark<br />
(Becky) Thalmann; proud<br />
grandfather of Lawson,<br />
Carleigh and Jack and Cooper<br />
and Grace Thalmann;<br />
dear brother of Diane (the<br />
late Roger) Stanton. Visitation<br />
