NO GREATER LOVE THAN THIS
ROB LANEY
John 15:13- "No one has greater love than this, to
lay down one’s life for one’s friends."
When do we ever have the opportunity to lay down
our own lives? Someone in the military making the
ultimate sacrifice. First responders running into
danger. Absent this kind of mortal purchase, we at
South Hills CC do avail ourselves of opportunities to
donate our energies.
We can give $5 to a cause. We can give a homemade
dish to a potluck brunch. We pray our efforts,
clocked by God, can be of some use when we give
of our time. We are indeed giving of our lives. We
hope it is of value and that momentous offering can
be costly. Is there anyone you know in your life who
is not constantly busy? Even retirees. Is it the new
normal?
I am personally extremely grateful for those who
spend their heartbeats on Thursday evenings
practicing anthems with the choir so to enhance
the worship of our community. Volunteering in this
day and age is a rare
commodity. Giving
when you don’t have
to give. The giving
of your life for your
friends is a great gift.
