and therefore preparation of a
consensual, multidimensional and
modern code of conduct for all media
houses, institutions, journalists and
other media workers is the requirement
of the day.
This was said by Mr. Kamal
Siddiqui, a distinguished journalist,
senior editor and director of Center of
Excellence in Journalism in IBA
while speaking at a ceremony organized
by Council of Pakistan
Newspaper Editors at CPNE
for preparing a unified code of conduct
for media. Mr. Kamal Siddiqi
said that under the aegis of CPNE, the
development of a code of conduct
with the cooperation of media experts
is a significant development.
He said that the development and
code of conduct. During the
process codes of conduct of 28 international
and 14 national institutions
and organizations were reviewed and
by collecting their common parts a
draft code has been prepared. This
draft will be shared among all media
organizations and institutions and senior
journalists so that a through mutual
consultation the process of preparation
of a code of conduct acceptable to
all and conforming to multidimensional
and modern requirements may be
initiated.
Mr. AamerMahmood, Chairman of
CPNE Projects and Programs
Committee said that the draft of unified
code of conduct would provide
guidance to journalists and help them
to perform their professional duties.
to uphold basic human rights including
media freedom, freedom of
expression and right of access to
information. The unified code of conduct
is a step towards responsible
journalism and CPNE believes that
the development of a consensual code
of conduct and its implementation
would not only enhance Pakistani
media's dignity at home and abroad
birth asphyxia or deprivation
of oxygen at the time of
birth,” the minister said
while addressing a press
conference.
Rasheed Ahmad Chughtai
Islam orders the Muslim to be
honest to himself and others.
This order repeatedly comes
in the Noble Qur’an and the sayings
of Prophet Muhammad
(SAWS). Islam orders the Muslim
to tell the truth even if it is against
the teller’s interest. Orders him not to
cheat or deceive other people. A Muslim is ordered by
Allah to be honest in his words and deeds, privately
and publicly alike. The practical character of the
teaching of Holy Prophet Mohammad(SAWS) that
gave birth to the scientific spirit, that has also sanctified
the daily labors and the so called mundane affairs.
The Quran says that God has created man to worship
him but the word worship has a connotation of its
own. God's worship is not confined to prayer alone,
but every act that is done with the purpose of winning
approval of God and is for the benefit of the humanity
comes under its purview. Islam sanctifies life and
all its pursuits provided they were performed with
honesty, justice and pure intents. It obliterates the age
long distinction between the sacred and profane. The
Quran says if you eat clean things and thank God for
it, it is an act of worship. It is saying of the prophet of
Islam that Morsel of food that one places in the mouth
of his wife is an act or virtue to be rewarded by God.
Another tradition of the Prophet says "He who is satisfying
the desire of his heart will be rewarded by God
provided the methods adopted are permissible. A person
was listening to him exclaimed `O Prophet of
God, he is answering the calls of passions, is only satisfying
the craving of his heart. Forthwith came the
reply, "Had he adopted an awful method for the satisfaction
of his urge, he would have been punished;
then why should he not be rewarded for following the
right course". This new conception of religion that it
should also devote itself to the betterment of this life
rather than concern itself exclusively with super mundane
affairs, has led to a new orientation of moral values.
Its abiding influence on the common relations of
mankind in the affairs of every day life, its deep
power over the masses, its regulation of their conception
of rights and duty, its suitability and adaptability
to the ignorant savage and the wise philosopher are
characteristic features of the teaching of the Prophet
of Islam in which he emphasizes for honesty in all
spheres of life
Implication of Honesty
Honesty in words implies telling the truth in all
cases and under all conditions. Honesty also implies
fulfilling the promise, whether written or given orally,
in text and spirit. Honesty also implies giving the right
advice to the one who asks for it.
Honesty also implies doing one’s work as sincerely
and as perfectly as possible. Honesty also implies
carrying out duties as fully as possible whether the
person is supervised or not. Honesty means giving
every person his due rights without his asking for
these rights.
Honesty means doing the right thing in the right
way at the right time. Honesty means objectivity in
judgment, objectivity in evaluation, and objectivity in
decisions of all types. Honesty implies the right selection
of personnel and the right promotion of personnel,
i.e., selection by merit and promotion by merit,
not by temper or favoritism or personal relations.
Honesty is a blanket term that covers a wide range
of traits. It covers telling the truth, sincerity in work,
carrying out duties, fulfilling one’s word, objective
judgments, and objective decisions. Honesty is the
opposite of lying, the opposite of bluffing, the opposite
of hypocrisy, the opposite of favoritism, and the
opposite of deceit.
External and Internal Honesty
By external honesty, I mean honesty, which is
judged by other people. By internal honesty, I mean
honesty which is judged by the person himself alone.
The reward of external honesty comes from Allah,
from people, and from the psychological satisfaction
the honest person feels. When you are honest, you are
liked by God and people whom you deal with. Your
honesty gives you the social approval you need and
here comes the social value of honesty.
Further, when everybody is honest, a great deal of
human problems disappear including lying, cheating,
bluffing, stealing, forgery, and many other social diseases.
In other words, honesty is something you give
and something you take: others enjoy your honesty
and you enjoy their honesty.
In the absence of honesty, many social diseases
appear. If a person is dishonest, he is ready to tell lies,
to bribe, to be bribed, to distort the truth, to cheat, to
forge, to deceive others, and to break his promises. A
dishonest person is a totality of diseases. He is ready
to misbehave at any time. Each time he misbehaves,
he causes a great disturbance or harm to one person or
to a group of persons or to the whole nation, in some
cases.
Internal Honesty: Thus honesty is a factor in the
psychological health of the honest person himself and
the health of other persons whom he deals with.
However, Islam emphasizes internal honesty, i.e.,
honesty that is judged by the person himself and cannot
be seen by other people.
It often happens that a person acts privately.
OPINION
Significance of Honesty in
Muslim society
Sometimes we act with nobody seeing us. A believer
in Allah feels that although no person is watching
him, Allah is watching. This continuous watch of
Allah develops the concept of internal honesty or conscience
in the believer. This means that internal honesty
becomes an overall strategy of the believer.
The Muslim is to be honest, internally and externally,
privately and publicly, whether observed by
other people or not, whether he acts or speaks. This
overall honesty makes the Muslim confident of himself,
of his behavior, and of his words and deeds.
Honesty makes the person feel that he trusts others
and is trusted by others.
This mutual confidence makes the believer feel
self-satisfied and socially secure.
Honesty implies unity of behavior, unity of standards,
and integrity of personality. Honesty implies
being away from internal conflicts, social conflicts
and self-contradiction.
Building Honesty
The important question, however, is this: how does
Islam build honesty in the Muslim? Islam builds ethical
qualities in general and honesty in particular in
several ways:
1. Instructions. Allah orders the Muslim to be honest
in all cases, in all deeds and words, to himself and
others.
2. Reason. Allah shows the Muslim rationally that
honesty is the best policy, even on utilitarian bases.
3. Reward. Allah promises the honest person generous
rewards in the first life and in the second life.
4. Punishment. Allah threatens the dishonest person
with severe punishment for his dishonest behavior.
5. Practice. Allah develops the habit of honesty in
the Muslim through actual practice, i.e., through fasting
and prayer.
Thus Islam builds the habit of honesty in the
Muslim through direct instructions, through rational
arguments, through the reward and punishment principles,
and through practice.
The Practice of Honesty
Taking fasting as an example, when a Muslim
fasts, he should abstain from any kind of food or drink
from dawn until sunset. This means that a fasting
Muslim should not eat or drink for several continuous
hours, including not engaging in sexual intercourse
with his wife or her husband.
The important thing here is that a fasting Muslim
does not allow a drop of water to go into his mouth
from dawn until sunset in spite of his thirst, because
he has learned to be honest, i.e., internally honest. The
only observer of a fasting person is Allah and the person
himself. Here is an actual and real practice of honesty
exercised during the whole month of Ramadan.
Of course, one of the components of honesty is
refusing to submit to temptations and impulses. In
Ramadan, the Muslim is thirsty, but he does not drink;
he is hungry, but he does not eat. In Ramadan, water
is spatially near but psychologically far from the
Muslim; water is near to the Muslim but far from his
desire. This is a practical exercise of self-control and
internal honesty.
So, Islam instructs the Muslim to be honest and
trains him to be so. The outcome is a healthy self and
a healthy social atmosphere that leads to the happiness
of both the individual and the group.
The practical character of the teaching of Holy
Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) that gave birth to the
scientific spirit, that has also sanctified the daily
labors and the so called mundane affairs. The
Quran says that God has created man to worship
him but the word worship has a connotation of its
own. God's worship is not confined to prayer alone,
but every act that is done with the purpose of winning
approval of God and is for the benefit of the
humanity comes under its purview. Islam sanctifies
life and all its pursuits provided they were performed
with honesty, justice and pure intents. It
obliterates the age long distinction between the
sacred and profane. The Quran says if you eat clean
things and thank God for it, it is an act of worship.
It is saying of the prophet of Islam that Morsel of
food that one places in the mouth of his wife is an
act or virtue to be rewarded by God. Another tradition
of the Prophet says "He who is satisfying the
desire of his heart will be rewarded by God provided
the methods adopted are permissible. A person
was listening to him exclaimed `O Prophet of God,
he is answering the calls of passions, is only satisfying
the craving of his heart. Forthwith came the
reply, "Had he adopted an awful method for the satisfaction
of his urge, he would have been punished;
then why should he not be rewarded for following
the right course". This new conception of religion
that it should also devote itself to the betterment of
this life rather than concern itself exclusively with
super mundane affairs, has led to a new orientation
of moral values. Its abiding influence on the common
relations of mankind in the affairs of every
of their conception of rights and duty, its suitability
and adaptability to the ignorant savage and
wouldn’t bother us as we
adapted some alternative solutions,
hours of working, charging lights, change schedules
of work and parties and social gatherings even,
change sleeping and working hours and arranging
homes! But is that a permanent solution for energy
crises? Absolutely not! Have we ever been think that
why government failing to maintain the balance of
demand and supply of energy? A common man doesn’t
bother to go deeper into the issue, yet as a citizen
we should the back ground so that we can accountable
to authorities and those who served as, this is our
basic human right!
Energy crises is a huge issues what currently
Pakistan is facing! Electricity is the main and important
need for the development of society. Every
individual needs energy to fulfill their basic necessity.
It is the basic requirement for an ample standard
of living. As there is increase in population
the economy of the country also increases and for
this reason the need of electricity demand also
increase and if this demand cannot met the supply
then it take a shape of crisis. Pakistan is also at that
type of region where the supply cannot meet the
demand and hence it faces a huge calamity of electricity.
The crisis become sever and takes a shape of
devil or torment in summer season when demand is
higher.
Energy access is still a major challenge for many
developing countries the whole nation feels paralyzed
due to the energy crisis it faces. In our country,
energy crisis started in 1985 and now it is at peak!
Uneven distribution of energy resources within
the Asia Pacific is presents a variety of challenges at
the national level in terms of supply security. South
Asia has witnessed a growing imbalance between
energy demand and its supply from indigenous
sources resulting in increased import dependence.
Energy endowments differ among the South Asian
countries. However, access to the significant energy
resources in the neighboring countries is denied,
which increases the cost of energy supply and
reduces energy security of the individual countries
and of the region as a whole. The countries in the
region could benefit significantly only by strengthening
the mechanism of energy trade through
improved connectivity. Therefore, greater cooperation
within South Asia could be one of the most
effective ways to deal with this Regional Energy
deficit and ensure Energy Security of the Region.
Energy for life – Challenges and possibilities
South Asia has witnessed a growing imbalance
between energy demand and its supply from indigenous
sources resulting in increased import dependence.
No South Asian country is going to be able to
meet its energy needs entirely from within its own
domestic resources. Energy endowments differ
among the South Asian countries, and the countries
in the region could benefit significantly by strengthening
mechanism of energy trade through improved
connectivity. Therefore, greater cooperation within
South Asia could be one of the most effective ways to
deal with this regional energy deficit and ensure energy
security of the region. However, there are many
issues which hamper power trading in this region.
The governments of the region would thus need to
take an active role in fostering cross-border energy
investments and promotion of regional energy trade
in order to take full advantage of the energy resources
available within the region and its neighborhood.
This is need of juncture to promote regional
power planning to enable efficient allocation of
resources. Diversification of power supply & a
dynamic capacity to adjust to developments in generation
sourcing Enable a capacity for regional load
harmonizing.
Political challenges are arguably the biggest
constraint to the realization of regional energy projects
in South Asia, an issue that has impeded cooperation
despite the existence of substantial economic
incentives. By synthesizing the findings of interviews
with relevant literature, this paper undertakes
a systematic analysis of the political challenges to
regional energy projects and provides a number of
policy recommendations to overcome these impediments.
Although challenges such as technical difficulties,
financial constraints and bureaucratic
inefficiency are important, they are in actual fact,
subsidiary issues, the solutions to which are held
hostage by often mentioned but rarely examined
political impediments.
Pakistan is very blessed country because it has a
great potential of renewable energy (non-convention
energy) such as Solar, Wind, Biogas, and Geothermal
energy etc. If the Pakistan will be a country which not
only fulfill their need of electricity but also sell on
the other neighboring countries. Renewable energy
is such a cheap and quick solution of the crisis
of energy. Policy makers of Pakistan pay attention on
that type of resources which is not possible in the
upcoming short time such as nuclear energy etc. so
this paper is basically creating the idea to convert
the energy sources to renewable and finish the crisis
of energy in Pakistan. We should stress the governments
to change their priorities. They should establish
cheap and durable power projects instead of expensive
projects. If we want to get rid of load shedding
and provide electricity to industry and trade.
And this regional workshop organized by KAS
can be assumed a step towards right direction to
initiate and promote dialogue amongst SAARC
countries to promote interconnections of electricity
infrastructure and harmonization of institutions
so that upholding of competitive power
trading and pooling policies would be peruse and
strengthen between neighbor states for peace and
prosperity of the region. While existing accounts
of political obstacles in contemporary literature
are relatively abstract, that with government officials,
academics, representatives of regional
institutions, officials, Media and youth of
Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, India and other
state of SAARC, getting insights into their experience
of possibilities for and limitations to energy
cooperation for progress down from community
to global level.

“Why did these 15 men
meet in Istanbul on the day
of the murder? Who ordered
them to do so? Why did they
open the consulate building
to investigation not immediately,
but days later?” asked
Erdogan.
Bolton visited Moscow a
day after Russia said it
would be forced to respond
in kind to restore the military
balance with the United
States if Trump followed
through on his threat to quit
the treaty and began developing
new missiles. Signed
by then-U.S. President
Ronald Reagan and
reformist Soviet leader
Mikhail Gorbachev in
1987, the Intermediate-
Range Nuclear Forces
Treaty required elimination
of all short- and intermediate-range
land-based
nuclear and conventional
missiles held by both countries
in Europe.
Its demise could raise
the prospect of a new arms
race, and Gorbachev, now
87, has warned that unraveling
it could have catastrophic
consequences.
“Why don’t they still produce
the body of the person
after their admission? Who
is the ‘local cooperator’ that
a Saudi official pointed at as
the person who took the
body? You should reveal
who this local cooperator
is,” he added.
Elsewhere in his address,
the Turkish president called
for an independent commission
to be set up to probe the
murder.
Moreover, Erdogan questioned
the Vienna
Convention and the immunity
it affords diplomats.
“The Vienna Convention
would not allow such a brutal
murder to happen,” he
said. “Diplomatic immunity,
which is a part of the Vienna
Convention, will be debated.”
Erdogan had earlier
promised to reveal the
“naked truth” about the murder
within days. During his
speech, He gave a series of
new details on the case.
On the day of the murder,
he said, the surveillance system
at the Saudi consulate in
Istanbul had been deactivated
on purpose.
Khashoggi first came to
the Saudi consulate in
Istanbul on September 28 to
get his marriage documents,
said Erdogan, adding that
the “roadmap” to kill him
started with that visit.
“On Oct. 1, a team of
three (Saudis) landed in
Istanbul and went to the consulate.
Another consulate
team went to Istanbul’s
Belgrad Forest and the
[neighboring] Yalova
province,” he added. "Then
another group came and this
15-member team went to the
consulate on Oct. 2 morning
and removed the hard disks
of security cameras there."
Government said that the
purpose of their visit was to
understand the Pakistani
market and explore opportunities
of investment and joint
ventures. She said Nanchang
KARACHI: Leader of German
Delegation and Senior Ministerial
Consul from Bavarian State’s
Ministry of Economic Affairs Mr.
Ulrich Konstantin Rieger has said,
“Many German companies usually
look for trade opportunities in China
and India whereas Pakistan with a
huge population of 220 million can
also offer a lot to Bavarian
Businessmen and Investors therefore
we decided to visit this country.”
Ulrich Rieger, who led a 32-member
German delegation during its visit
to Karachi Chamber of Commerce and
Industry, said, “There is a great potential
to enhance bilateral trade and we
Govt economic measures revive
business confidence at PSX
KARACHI: The fresh
economic measures taken by
the new government has
revived the confidence of
the investors at Pakistan
Stock Exchange (PSX) who
are now set to bring back
trading activities with new
resilience.
This was stated by
Suleman Mehdi, Chairman
Pakistan Stock Exchange at
Pakistan Operational
Excellence Summit 2018
held in Karachi at a local
hotel.
Speaking as the chief
guest, he said the government
addressed the concerns of
equity investors recently to
quell the uncertainty, which
is the worst phenomenon in
the business of stock market.
The direction of the government
has been outlined as
it will go to International
Monetary Fund (IMF) as
well as friend countries for
loans and assistance, thus
revitalizing business activities
with a new lease of life in
the country.
Operational excellence is
the indispensible field of the
business to boost up the bottomline
of the corporations;
hence local corporations
should considered operations
as the backbone instead of
considering it as an ordinary
department.
He added top companies
of the world with growing
market capitalization
achieved operational excellence
which gave an edge to
them over traditional corporations
with global operations.
“It was a great platform
to share best practices and
take some inspiration from
different industries operating
on similar principles
and to network with your
operational excellence and
business transformation
peers facing the same challenges
as you are throughout
their journey”.
Defending champ Caroline Wozniacki
gets 1st win at WTA Finals
S I N G A P O R E :
Defending champion
5, 3-6, 6-2 on Tuesday.
Wozniacki, who
became the first Danish
woman to win a Grand
Slam title at this year's
Australian Open, is now
1-1 in her group. Kvitova
is 0-2.
"I played much better
today," Wozniacki said on
court after the match. "I
returned well. I served
well. Against Petra, she's
so powerful, you have to
stay on your game. I just
tried to stay focused and
get a lot of balls back.
"I always believe in
myself, and when I'm out
on the court I believe I'm
going to win."
Wozniacki lost to
Karolina Pliskova in her
opening match, while
Kvitova lost to Elina
Svitolina. Pliskova and
Svitolina will meet later
Tuesday.
Kvitova, who won the
WTA Finals title in her
debut appearance at the
year-end tournament in
2011, was the one taking
chances on Tuesday. But
Wozniacki played steadier
defense and waited for
the Czech to make mistakes.
Kvitova finished the
match with 40 winners
and 40 unforced errors.
Wozniacki had 19 winners
and 14 unforced errors.
left knee bandaged when
Kvitova was leading 3-1
in the second.
can submit their applications
till November 12.
Key responsibilities
would include successfully
conducting international
cricket matches, home
or away, including the
Pakistan Super League;
working with the federal
and provincial governments
to protect the interests
of cricket; developing
domestic cricket
infrastructure; and implementing
governance and
transparency, among others.
are strong candidates for
the MD post.
Consistency
key for Australia,
says returning
centre Kerevi
TOKYO: Australia need
to be more consistent if they
are to challenge the best
rugby teams in the world,
according to returning centre
Samu Kerevi.
Australia are in Japan for
the third Bledisloe Cup clash
against New Zealand on
Saturday with the All Blacks
having already wrapped up
the annual series 2-0 after
wins in Sydney and
Auckland.
The Wallabies will, however,
look to build momentum
for next year's World
Cup with a victory in Tokyo.
Kerevi, 25, is making a
return to the Australian
squad, having missed the last
six games with a bicep injury
sustained in June. The
Wallabies have lost four
times in his absence.
"It has been really hard to
watch from the sidelines,"
Kerevi said in Tokyo on
Tuesday. "Consistency with
results is the biggest thing for
us and this consistency is
something we want to
improve over this five-week
tour." Australia's rankings
has dropped to number seven
in the world and they know
they must improve in the
coming weeks, with matches
against Wales, Italy and
England to come after the
Bledisloe clash.
DUBAI: Dual roles
held by national-team
coaches Mickey Arthur
and Azhar Mahmood have
come under the spotlight,
following recent cases of
high-profile names having
to give up roles in the
Pakistan Super League
(PSL). Arthur, Pakistan's
head coach, and Azhar,
the bowling coach, are
both also coaches with
Karachi Kings in the PSL,
which has raised questions
about potential conflicts
of interest.
Last month, the PCB
removed chief selector
Inzamam-ul-Haq from the
PSL player draft committee
because of a potential conflict
of interest since he was
involved with a talent-hunt
programme run by one of
Pakistan got the better of us
in the final. Hopefully, we
can improve our performance
by one level and win
the tournament here,” he
added.
The 30-year-old further
said, “Pakistan are obviously
a very strong unit and
have played some really
good T20 cricket over the
last couple of years to get
themselves to the world
No. 1 spot.”
Speaking about Fakhar
Zaman, Maxwell said,
“We’ll have our work cut
out. Guys like Fakhar
Zaman has been outstanding,
especially in that
final." "They don’t rely on
one specific bowler, they
have got a good unit that
works together. So we’ll
have to be at our A game to
beat them,” he added.
Conor McGregor: Khabib
Nurmagomedov beat me
"fair and square"
DUBLIN:
McGregor admits he did
not prepare correctly for
his loss to Khabib
Nurmagomedov - but will
return to UFC with his
"confidence high".
The Irishman tapped
out in the fourth round in
their October bout at
UFC 229 in Las Vegas as
he made his return to the
octagon after a 693-day
absence.
McGregor, 30, says he
made errors at a "crucial
time" as the Russian
retained his lightweight
title.
"I end up beaten fair
and square," he said, analyzing
the fight on
Instagram.
N u r m a g o m e d o v ' s
manager Ali Abdelaziz
suggested a rematch with
McGregor would not
happen as the Russian's
team have "moved on",
and the defeated man
says he is now prepared
to fight the next in line.
"I will be back with
my confidence high.
Fully prepared," he
added.
"If it is not the
rematch right away, no
problem. I will face the
next in line."
top-ranked ODI bowler
DUBAI: Former
Pakistan captain Sana Mir's
impressive performances
with the ball in the ODI
series against Australia
have catapulted her to the
top of the ICC women's
The offspinner, who
reached a career-best 663
No. 4. Mir also overtook
South Africa's Marizanne
Kapp and Australia pacer
Megan Schutt, who is
placed second with 660
points.
Mir finished the threematch
series as the highest
wicket-taker with seven
scalps, with figures of 3 for
went in vain as Australia
swept the series 3-0 and
to increase his bowling
workloads with 8.3 overs in
the first one-day game
against Pakistan A.
Mickey Arthur's dual roles with Pakistan
and Karachi Kings back in the spotlight
course I will get into it.
"[The PCB removed
Inzamam from the PSL
draft-selection process
because] that created a conflict
of interest. If he is
there with the franchise
then he can't be choosing
the players and that made
logical sense. In terms of
him [Arthur] and others
involved with PSL franchises
we will look case by
case on merit basis and will
raise [the issue] with them
ESPNcricinfo understands
that Arthur has no
vote in picking Pakistan's
take his inputs on
board, but he does have a
vote in selecting the final
playing XI.

GENEVA: The U.N.
Human Rights Committee
said on Tuesday that
France’s ban on the niqab,
the full-body Islamic veil,
was a violation of human
rights and called on it to
review the legislation.
France had failed to
make the case for its ban,
the committee said, giving
Paris 180 days to report
back to say what actions it
had taken. The panel’s
findings are not legally
binding but could influence
French courts.
“In particular, the
Committee was not persuaded
by France’s claim
that a ban on face covering
was necessary and proportionate
from a security
standpoint or for attaining
the goal of ‘living together’
in society,” it said.
Charter of Governance’ need of the
hour: Barrister Naseem Bajwa
Bureau Report
I S L A M A B A D :
Challenges of Pakistan are
critical and deep in nature,
where almost every sector
and institution is struggling
for its survival. For a strong
democratic Pakistan, all
stakeholders must evolve
consensus around a
‘Charter of Governance’,
which should encompass all
sectors including economy,
judiciary and civil service
etc. For that civil society
has to stand up and continue
to put pressure for radical
reforms.
This was the crux of
experts’ deliberation at a
seminar titled “New
Agenda of Radical
Reforms”, organized by
Sustainable Development
Policy Institute (SDPI) here
on Monday.
Dr. Shoaib Suddel, a
leading police and justice
sector reform specialist said
that the fundamental rights
in the constitution are critically
linked with the justice
system of the country. He
said that without effective
and independent police
service there cannot be justice
in the society.
Unfortunately, there is no
single political party wanted
an independent police
service. First and foremost,
we must ensure merit in the
country coupled with a fair
and effective government
and quality of regulatory
regime. Moreover, we
should establish as system
where accountability can be
ensure across the board.
Unless we take such critical
measures, the real change
would be a distant dream.
He said that civil service of
Pakistan is the backbone of
the country. Civil servant
have the critical role to
reverse the wrongdoings
and can still transform the
country, he added.
Barrister Naseem
Ahmed Bajwa, a noted
lawyer based in United
Kingdom (UK) said that in
Pakistan there is no dearth
of talent in Pakistan, as
youth of Pakistan is more
talented than the youth of
any developed nation. He
said that in the west, Union
Councils are more empowered
to take their own decisions,
which is the key to
progress. The governance
in Pakistan has to be decentralized
for prosperity and
development, he added.
There is dire need of people’s
friendly reforms,
because current system has
become exposed and enemy
of public. We should strive
for shared democracy,
which can help the system
to transform.
ready to meet you, will
you meet him?”
The PML-N quaid
once again asked the
party spokesperson to
respond and she said,
“We are reviewing his
statement on a party
level.” A day earlier,
Zardari said he was up for
uniting the opposition
parties against the government.
In 2014, the European
with this in its statement
the ban disproportionately
harmed the right of women
them being confined at
