The Filmmakers Journey<br />

I<br />

’ve always been fascinated by the inner workings of how a film comes together.<br />

Therefore, working on this edition has made me feel like a kid in a candy store.<br />

Filmmaking is exciting as well as tedious, simple yet complicated, grueling and<br />

gratifying. The feeling you get watching a film you’ve been a part of or made is<br />

fulfilling. It is with that same excitement that I invite you to come on this filmmaking<br />

journey in this edition of the Spark.<br />

From the intricacies of costuming to the technicalities of script writing, to the<br />

world of a performer and the final home of a film, we break down the world of<br />

the Nigerian film industry known as Nollywood. My Nollywood, our Nollywood,<br />

the second largest film industry in the world, of which is a huge part of the GDP<br />

of Nigeria’s economy.<br />

In this edition, not only do we celebrate this industry through the articles while<br />

commemorating our veterans, but we also shine a light on the future; the young,<br />

vibrant people taking over the industry. Furthermore, we highlight subject matters<br />

that we hope would start conversations in the minds of you our readers and<br />

hopefully show you ways in which you can add more value to our thriving industry.<br />

I’ve had so much fun working with the team on this edition. I hope you have much<br />

more fun as you read it.<br />
