The Filmmakers Journey
I
’ve always been fascinated by the inner workings of how a film comes together.
Therefore, working on this edition has made me feel like a kid in a candy store.
Filmmaking is exciting as well as tedious, simple yet complicated, grueling and
gratifying. The feeling you get watching a film you’ve been a part of or made is
fulfilling. It is with that same excitement that I invite you to come on this filmmaking
journey in this edition of the Spark.
From the intricacies of costuming to the technicalities of script writing, to the
world of a performer and the final home of a film, we break down the world of
the Nigerian film industry known as Nollywood. My Nollywood, our Nollywood,
the second largest film industry in the world, of which is a huge part of the GDP
of Nigeria’s economy.
In this edition, not only do we celebrate this industry through the articles while
commemorating our veterans, but we also shine a light on the future; the young,
vibrant people taking over the industry. Furthermore, we highlight subject matters
that we hope would start conversations in the minds of you our readers and
hopefully show you ways in which you can add more value to our thriving industry.
I’ve had so much fun working with the team on this edition. I hope you have much
more fun as you read it.
