No change without breaking chains
of holy heroes: Dr. Mubarak Ali
Abbas Kassar
H Y D E R A B A D :
Prominent historian Dr
Mubarak Ali has said that
sufism and nationalism
have been pushing people
towards backwardness as
both of them (nationalism
and sufism) are against
teachings of great philosopher
Karl Marx.
He said that until people
broke chains of old traditions,
holy heroes and institutions,
there could be no
change, no sustainable
democracy and no real politics
in the society. He said
that he always taught his
students in classrooms not
to follow footsteps of their
elders, but they must work
harder and follow their own
footsteps. He quoted a foreign
writer as saying that
dead should not be allowed
to rule the living.
He said this while delivering
a lecture at program
titled: “the 200th birth
anniversary of Karl Marx ,
1818-2018,” organized by
Communist Party of
Pakistan. (CPP) secretary
general comrade Imdad
Qazi, moderated by CPP
local leader comrade Iqbal
held at the local press club
on Sunday evening.
Dr Mubarak Ali said
that he wanted to say two
things especially about
Sindh as people are frequently
speaking about
sufism and nationalism.
“Karl Marx said and
conveyed the message that
workers of the world unite
without any discrimination.
It means that he was against
nationalism. He spoke of
difference-cum-importance
about rich and poor, prosperous
and oppressed people.
Such rising nationalist
movements in Sindh,
Punjab, Balochistan and
Kyber Pakhtunkhwa are
just attempts to abolish
class-based consciousness.
We should try to dispel this
sense of nationalism in the
society.
Are supplements safe and do they work?
ISLAMABAD: The
story of a man who ended
up needing a liver transplant
after taking green tea capsules
has brought the topic
of dietary supplements back
into the news. What are
some of the dangers of supplements
and what are the
health benefits?
When Jim McCants
started taking green tea pills
he had hoped he was giving
his health a shot in the arm.
Instead, it appears the
pills caused such serious
damage to his liver that it
required an urgent transplant.
Experts point out that
experiences like that of Mr
McCants, are "extremely
unusual".
In the UK, supplements
are subject to EU regulations
over their safety and
the health claims manufacturers
make about the products.
Approved supplements
bought from reputable businesses
are almost always
going to be safe, provided
the manufacturer's instructions
are followed, doctors
say.
But it is wrong to assume
that food supplements do
not sometimes have the
potential to be harmful, says
Dr Wayne Carter, from the
University of Nottingham.
If you take supplements
in quantities above recommended
levels there are
risks.
While in many cases
excess levels of a supplement
will be excreted,
there is the potential for it
to be toxic, particularly to
the liver, which detoxifies
the substances we consume.
"I think sometimes the
idea that people take on
board is 'this is good for
me, therefore if I take even
more of it, it will be even
better'," Dr Carter says.
one can be arrested on the
that the institutions concerned
would decide
about it. On formation of
South Punjab province,
he said the committees
were working on the subject,
however, the government
would need the support
of other political parties
of a province.
No corruption, fraud,
ISLAMABAD: Federal
Minister for Water
in corruption free environment,
truth and honesty.
Commenting on Saudi’s
support to Pakistan in
shape of loan, he said the
present government would
utilize the funds being
taken from friendly countries
for public welfare
schemes.
The previous governments
run by Pakistan
Peoples Party and Pakistan
Muslim League Nawaz
would not make any compromise
or do NRO with
corrupt elements, he added.
Faisal Wada said that
these political party leaders
including PPP and PML-N,
had been using the tool of
OPINION
Arbaeen message is ‘unity’, ‘amity’
among Muslims against tyranny
Rasheed Ahmad Chughtai
Unity, amity and solidarity
among Muslims is the
message of Arbaeen
(which marks forty days after the
Day of Ashura when Imam
Hussain (AS) and his true companions
were martyred in the battlefield
in Karbala).the universal
message of Arbaeen is this that all Muslims and non-
Muslims are united with one another for combating
oppression and arrogant movement. There are very
few mass gatherings in the world today which are
entire peaceful and which do not result in the loss of
life, and in fact, according to Wikipedia – “the Free
Encyclopedia” - of the five gatherings globally seeing
over 10 million people, four were in Karbala:
Arbaeen (Arbayeen) means "forty" in Arabic, or
Chehlum, as it is known by Urdu-speaking
Muslims, is a Shia religious observation that occurs
40 days after the Day of Ashura (Aashura/Ashurah),
the commemoration of the martyrdom by beheading
of Imam Husayn Ibn Ali (as), the grandson of the
Prophet Muhammad (saw) which falls on the 20th
day of the second month of the Islamic Lunar
Calendar called as Safar. Imam Husayn Ibn Ali (as)
and 72 supporters died in the Battle of Karbala in the
year 61 AH (680 CE). Forty days is the usual length
of the time of mourning in many Islamic cultures.
Number forty is mystic in Theosophy. According
to the Islamic culture if someone practices a good
deed constantly during forty days, it would be his
inseparable attribute and lead to descending of
Allah's blessing. In some religions forty days and
forty nights praying has been special position.
When Prophet Musa / Moses (pbuh) prayed forty
nights; found the ability to hear the words of Allah
(SWT), "And when We appointed a time of forty
nights with Musa, then you took the calf (for a god)
after him and you were unjust." [Glorious Quran
2:51]
Prophet Muhammad (saw) said, "Whoever dedicates
himself to Allah (SWT) for forty days, will
find springs of wisdom sprout out of his heart and
flow on his tongue."
Commemorating of the fortieth day of deeds by
their family and giving alms is one of the common
customs among some of the Muslims.
The 40th [Arbaeen (Arbayeen) or Chehlum]
marks an important turning point in the movement
of Karbala (Kerbala). This day, which is no less
important to the day of Ashura (Aashura/Ashurah) is
important for many reasons - the prime being that
the Ahlul Bayt reached the land of Karbala on this
day and performed the visitation to Sayyid ash-
Shuhada al-Husayn (as) and the loyal family and
friends who gave their life for the cause of Islam.
Although the historians differ on when this event
transpired; some say it was in the same year of the
massacre in Karbala in the year 61 AH, whilst other
say it was in the following year 62 AH. Whatever
the case, the atrocities and difficulties which the
family of Prophet Muhammad (saw) was put
through in the court of Yazid and the long ride to
Karbala culminated on the 20th of Safar on the
empty plains of Karbala.
According to most widely accepted traditions,
the family of Prophet Muhammad (saw) remained in
captivity for about a year in Damascus by Yazid, the
Umayyad Caliph. After one year when the ruler of
Shaam (Syria) were forced to release them,
BibiZainab (sa) said to Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn as-
Sajjad (as) that she wanted to go back to Karbala to
mourn his brother and all the martyrs of Karbala.
The same was desired by other women of this caravan
and Imam Ali ibn al-Husayn as-Sajjad (as)
directed them towards Karbala.
The occasion of Arbaeen (Arbayeen) or Chehlum
reminds the faithful of the core message behind
Imam Husayn's martyrdom: establishing justice and
fighting injustice, no matter what its incarnation - a
message that strongly influenced subsequent Shia
uprisings against the tyranny of Umayyad and
Abbasid rule.
These forty days are a suitable opportunity for
people to develop the love of Imam Husayn (as) and
hate his murderers, in their hearts. Forty consecutive
days, from Ashura up to Arbaeen, also is a national
ceremony of aversion announcement from oppressors
of the history.
O Husayn, commemoration of your revolution
from Ashura up to Arbaeen makes the world pay
attention to the message of the resurrection. Ashura
is martyrdom day of the history makers and Arbaeen
is pilgrimage day of Ashura makers.
Arbaeen philosophy shows itself, and we can
teach martyrdom lesson from this class and prepare
ourselves in order to help our master Imam Mahdi
(as) [May Allah hasten his reappearance].
As a sign of loyalty to the martyrs, we have been
ordered to recite the Ziyarat of Arbaeen on the day
of Arbaeen.
The grave of Imam Husayn Ibn Ali (as) was not
desolate as some may expect. Rather, as the Ahlul
Bayt were approaching Karbala, there were a few
people already at the grave, marking his martyrdom
with tears. The individual, who had been a companion
of Prophet Muhammad (saw) - Jabir ibne
Abdullah al-Ansari (who at this point was blind) -
along with his assistant (Atiyya bin Saad), had made
the trek from Madina to the place of martyrdom of
his Imam and master, Imam Husayn Ibn Ali (as).
Jabir ibne Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) called out to his
Imam, "I testify that you are the son of the Seal of
the Prophets, the son of the Master of the Faithful,
the son of the inseparable ally of piety, the descendant
of guidance." His servant, Atiyya bin Saad
noted to him that he could see a caravan of people in
the distance and they were approaching this sacred
site. As they approached, they realized that this was
none other than the caravan of present Imam, Ali ibn
al-Husayn as-Sajjad (as) with the other family members
and assistants!
The historians note that at this point, Jabir ibne
Abdullah al-Ansari (ra) and his assistant, Atiyya bin
Saad, moved out of the way so that the women of the
Ahlul Bayt and the others could show their grief at
the sacred grave in privacy and according to reports,
the heads of the martyrs were also buried at this
point in time - as before leaving Shaam (Syria), they
were given back the sacred heads of the martyrs.
Ziyarat, as we all know is a visitation, which in
essence, is the act of speaking with and visiting our
role models. Of course the physical manifestation of
the Ziyarat is actually being present in Karbala to
perform the Ziyarat-E-Arbaeen, but, in reality, that
is not possible for every believer. So, does making
Ziyarat while not in Karbala give one the same benefits?
Ahadith tell us that performing the Ziyarat of
Imam Husayn (as) far from Karbala would hold the
same significance as being in the land of Karbala, as
long as the person performing the Ziyarat has truly
understood the status of the Imam Husayn (as) and
seeks to emulate him.
Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (as) states that the
heavens wept over Imam Husayn (as) for forty
mornings, rising red and setting red. As we complete
40 days of remembrance of our Imam, we re-assert
our pledge of obedience and loyalty to him,
"I bear witness that you are the Imam (who is) the
upright, the pious, well-pleased (with Allah), the
pure, the guide and the rightly-guided. I bear witness
that you fulfilled the pledge of Allah and you struggled
in His way.I am a friend of whoever befriends
him ..."
By performing the Ziyarat-E-Arbaeen, we pledge
that we will continue to follow the path of justice
and righteousness and will reject injustice and speak
up against the oppressors of the time; I am an enemy
of whoever is his enemy...
In essence, we make a promise to continue to
mold our lives according to the teaching of Imam
Husayn (as). But why is it that we mourn and
remember Imam Husayn (as) for a period of forty
days and then move on?
Our Prophet Muhammad (saw) has said, "The
earth mourns the death of a believer for forty mornings."
Therefore it appears that the deceased should
be remembered and mourned over for a period of
forty days. Performing an act for a continuous period
of forty days is also known to help one to not just
form a habit, but also to carry on the practice for the
rest of his life.
If we look at studies dealing with bringing a
lifestyle change, we notice the time period emphasized
to bring about a change is usually 6 weeks
which is about the same time period as 40 days (to
be exact it is 42 days).
In the book 40 Days to Personal Revolution: A
Breakthrough Program to Radically Change Your
Body and Awaken the Sacred Within Your Soul, the
author Baron Baptiste explains the significance of
forty days:
Why forty days? Because the number 40 holds
tremendous spiritual significance in the realm of
transformation. Jesus wandered in the desert for
forty days in order to experience purification and
come to a greater understanding of himself and his
mission. Moses and his people traveled through the
desert for forty years before arriving at their home in
the holy land. Noah preserved the sacredness of life
by sailing his ark for forty days and forty nights.
According to the Kabbalah, the ancient Jewish mystical
text, it takes forty days to ingrain any new way
of being into our system...
Reciting particular Duas for a period of 40
days is highly recommended in our practices as
well. The unit 40 (forty) is said to be very effective.
If a particular Dua is recited 40 times, or 40
people gather to recite it, or it is recited for 40
days then its effectiveness is highly increased.
It is reported from Imam JafferSadiq (as) that
whoever recites Dua-E-Ahad for forty days, after
morning prayers will be amongst the helpers of
the 12th Imam Mahdi (as). Visitation of the shrine
of Imam Husayn (as) as well as Masjid-E-Sahla
for 40 consecutive Thursdays is also very highly
recommended and is one of the acts that promises
a visit from the 12th Imam Mahdi (as).
Thus, as we perform the Ziyarat-E-Arbaeen
and commemorate the Arba'een, 40 days of
mourning of Imam Husayn (as), we hope and pray
that this forty days of remembrance of Imam
Husayn (as), brings about a transformation in us
by which we can continue to follow the path of
Imam Husayn (as) and carry on his message of
upholding justice with true faith and a strong
sense of sacrifice!
Terrorists organizations once again terrorize Khyber
Pakhtunkhwa and speed up terrorism across the country,
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the people of Pakistan were
badly effected by the terrorists.Threats are being sent to
political parties representatives, police officers and journalists
on daily basis and they are being killed which is
a bad act for the country and the people. Pakistan
Tehreek-e-Taliban, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi and other Taliban
organizations have started blasts in the name of Islam
and Sharia in the country,Are Pakistani people not
Muslims? Is muslim an enemy of muslim? what is the
crime of women and innocent children? Is it permissible
in islam to kill innocent muslim? If the answer is No
then the Taliban are surely unaware about the right path
of Allah and sharia instructions. Is it permissible in
Sharia to kill the Muslims, bomb Muslims? In islam
Muslim is brother of another Muslim and the status of
position respectively. Mehwish Solangi performed the
duty of stage Secretary during program. Chief guests
including Gobind Ram urf papu soonaro, Dayal Dass,
OPINION
Taliban and Sharia
brother is very high in islam but today's Muslim is being
proud of killing his Muslim brother. Has Allah, Islam,
and the sharia law taught us to kill brother, innocent children,
women and bomb Muslims? A murder of a
Muslim in Islam has been declared as a murder of
humanity, but we Muslims are unaware of this
fact.Terrorist organizations should fearAllah's anger and
the people you are attacking, bombing, killing and
threatening them are actually Muslims,Which religion
allows massacre of muslims.Explosion on women, children, elders,
health and educational institutions are so sad
and condemnable but government institutions are silent
spectacle about it which is a swing mark on the current
government. The present government has yet to make
any legal action against terrorist elements,Taliban organizations
and other terrorists. We are all united in the fight
against terrorism and will remain united and will make
every effort to root out terrorism.

BOURNE: Thousands of
people stopped traffic in the
heart of Sydney yesterday,
while hundreds of protesters
in Melbourne rallied against
the federal government’s
offshore detention centers.
A refugee calling from
Manus Island has told a
rally in Melbourne he’s suffering
in a state of limbo as
thousands gathered around
Australia to protest the government’s
treatment of asylum
seekers.
The asylum seeker told
the Melbourne protest he
and those with him had
experienced five years of
suffering and hopelessness:
“We need action. We need
to move away from this
to Prague.
He will be meeting with
his Czech counterpart and
Prime Minister Andrej Babis
during a short trip to Prague.
Mattis said ministers
from NATO would be
meeting in Brussels in
December and at that point
he would have some kind
of “culminating point.”
European members of
NATO urged the United
States on Thursday to try to
bring Russia back into
compliance with a nuclear
arms control treaty rather
than quit it, diplomats said,
seeking to avoid a split in
the alliance that Moscow
could exploit.
VATICAN CITY: Pope
Francis, ending a monthlong
meeting on the theme
of Catholic youth, told
young people Sunday that
in order to be good members
of the Church they
should not be obsessed
with “doctrinal formulae”
but blend its rules with
social activism to help
those in need.
Francis said a Mass for
about 10,000 people in St.
Peter’s Basilica to ceremoniously
close the Synod of
Bishops, officially titled
“Young People, Faith and
Discernment of Vocation”
and attended by some 300
bishops, priests, nuns and
lay participants.
will be directed by
Mahesh Mathai and produced
by Siddharth Roy
under their banners Roy
There were reports that
Bhumi Pednekar has been
signed opposite Shah
titled Saare Jahaan Se
Achcha but Ronnie said an
official announcement
will be made soon.
“We are doing that film
with Shah Rukh Khan. We
should begin it by
February or March next
year, but we haven’t
announced the female lead
yet,” Ronnie told PTI.
The producer, who has
also backed Sushant Singh
Rajput-Sara Ali Khan starrer
more involved in each and
every project he is a part
of.
“This time around there
is no compulsion. I can do
three movies a year, or six.
Telling the stories I want
to tell is most important.
That’s what I’m going to
focus on, bring deeply
involved with everything,
from cast and script.
Ronnie was speaking
on the sidelines of the 20th
edition of Jio MAMI
Mumbai Film Festival,
where his Mard Ko Dard
Nahi Hota had its India
premiere.
The producer said
when he was approached
by director Vasan Bala, he
understood the filmmaker’s
MOSCOW: Russian
Foreign Minister Sergei
Lavrov said on Sunday that
Moscow has started preparing
answers to the questions
related to arms control
pact delivered by U.S. officials,
RIA news agency
quoted him as saying.
“Just a week ago, a couple
questions which are a concern
President Donald Trump
said on Oct. 20 that
Washington planned to quit
the Intermediate-Range
Nuclear Forces (INF) treaty
which Mikhail Gorbachev,
the last Soviet leader, and
Ronald Reagan had signed
state of limbo,” he said.
Among the crowd in
Sydney was Australian rock
icon Jimmy Barnes, who
said he felt compelled to
bring his family to Hyde
Park and rally against offshore
detention.
“People are living in
detention with no hope, with
no future, nothing to live
for, nothing to strive for,
nothing to dream about, it’s
criminal,” Barnes said.
“The behaviors of our
government and the government
before it, our
politicians, have been disgusting;
Australia was
becoming “a joke” on the
world stage.”
In Melbourne, Refugee
Action Collective co-chairman
David Glanz said he
and others felt they’d been
hitting their heads on a
brick wall.
“You ask yourself how
we can be in a situation
where children are resigning
themselves to death
under the so-called protection
of the Australian government,”
he told hundreds
of supporters. “Well, today
I think we can say we are
beginning to see the cracks
in that wall.”
The health of asylum
seekers on Nauru has shot
to prominence in the past
few weeks, with Scott
Morrison under immense
pressure to bring sick children
and their families to
“I would like to say to
the young people, in the
name of all of us adults:
forgive us if often we have
not listened to you, if,
instead of opening our
hearts, we have filled your
ears,” Francis said in a
lighter part of the homily
of the Mass, which he cocelebrated
with dozens of
the bishops who took part
in the synod.
But he also went to the
heart of accusations
against him by some conservatives
in the Church
who say he has watered
down emphasis on doctrinal
matters and Church
rules in favor of social
issues such as migration,
poverty and the environment.
In his homily, he said
both were necessary.
“Faith passes through
life. When faith is concerned
purely with doctrinal
formulae, it risks
speaking only to the head
without touching the
heart,” he said.
Thousands of protesters stop traffic in Sydney & Melbourne
Australia.
Eleven children were
evacuated earlier this week,
leaving 52 on the island.
Refugee advocates say
another four kids have since
left Nauru. Morrison said
about 30 people had been
taken off Nauru over the
last few weeks.
“Those numbers have
been coming down and we
will continue to work on
that,” Morrison told
reporters in Sydney.
“We have just been getting
on and doing it like a
responsible and compassionate
government should.”
Federal Labor MP
Anthony Albanese said
ahead of Saturday’s rally
that Australia could have
strong borders “without losing
our national soul”.

Sports Reporter
KARACHI: Pakistan
maintains its record of playing
every final of the Asian
Champions Trophy.
They managed to beat
Malaysia after an exciting
semi final at the Fifth Hero
Asian Champions Trophy
Hockey Tournament at the
Sultan Qaboos Sports
Complex in Muscat, Oman.
Malaysia had clawed
back from being 1-4 down
to level it in the 56th minute.
The shootout was equally
exciting. However, luck
favoured Pakistan.
Two days back, when the
two sides met in their last
round robin match, there
was almost nothing at stake
but today it was for the place
in the final.
Pakistan has appeared in
all the previous four finals
while Malaysia had always
finished third in the previous
editions of the ACT. It
was a thriller throughout.
Pakistan's skipper
Rizwan Sr had to sit out
because of a hamstring
injury.
The game got to a sensational
start. In only the second
minute, Malaysia captalised
from some clumsy
Pakistani defence near the
23 metre area to go ahead.
Faizal Saari, their all time
top scorer, sprinted into the
circle and dived to put the
ball through the pads of an
advancing Imran Butt.
The green shirts recovered
immediately and were
level within three minutes.
A fine raid culminated in
Ajaz Ahmad, sending an
inch perfect square pass
from the left side of the circle,
to M.Irfan Jr who made
no mistake from close
range.
The up and down stuff
continued with two penalty
corners coming to each side.
Pakistan's ace PC expert
Aleem Bilal rifled the second
to the roof of the net.
They soon extended the
lead. A loose ball due to a
Malaysian blunder was well
taken by Abubakr whose
superb flat back hander
went beneath the onrushing
goal keeper.
So It was 3-1 for
Pakistan after the first 15
minutes.
Five minutes later,
another PC ripper from
Aleem Bilal rattled the
right side of the net.
Both open play and
penalty corner chances
continued to arrive at
either end but the scoreline
remained 4-1 after the
first 30 minutes.
The script remained the
same: free flowing game.
In the dying minutes of
the third quarter Malaysia
suddenly reduced the margin
to the bare minimum
through two fine field
goals.
Pakistan signs EXPO-2020
participation contract with UAE
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan
Sunday formally signed
participation contract with
the EXPO-2020 authorities
at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs and International
Cooperation, Abu Dhabi.
The contract was signed
by Ambassador of
Pakistan to UAE
Moazzam Ahmed Khan, in
his capacity as
Commissioner General,
EXPO-2020 and Sultan Al
Shamsi, Assistant
Minister, Ministry of
Foreign Affairs &
International Cooperation,
a message received here on
Sunday said.
The signing ceremony
Islamabad: The Pakistan
Economy Watch (PEW) on
Sunday said the upcoming visit of
Prime Minister Imran Khan can
result in various deals which will
help stabilize our troubled economy.
The US has started a cold war
against China, it is pressurizing
Pakistan, using India against
China and Pakistan and damaging
global economic order, it said.
In the given scenario, Pakistan
was witnessed by Reem Al
Hashimy, Minister of State
for International
Cooperation and Director
General, EXPO-2020 and
Advisor to Prime Minister
on Commerce, Textile,
Industry & Production and
Investment Abdul Razak
Dawood.
The contract signing
formally started activities
for construction of
Pakistan Pavilion in
EXPO-2020 which
would be built on a large
sized plot in the
Opportunity District.
The pavilion would be
based on the ‘Emerging
Pakistan’ theme, having
and China need each other to confront
threats which is only possible
when Islamabad is backed by a
stable economy, said Dr. Murtaza
Mughal, President PEW.
The outcome of the visit of PM
Khan could be new deals worth
billions of dollars, a package to
improve the balance of payments
crisis while Beijing can also help
IMF relax loan conditions for
Pakistan, he said.
Dr. Murtaza Mughal said that
representation from all
provinces.
Speaking on the occasion,
Advisor to Prime
Minister on Commerce,
Textile, Industry &
Production and Investment
Abdul Razak Dawood said
Pakistan attached great
importance to its relations
with UAE and that looked
forward to making its participation
most meaningful
in line with the EXPO
theme of ‘Connecting
Minds, Creating the
Future’.
He said the EXPO-2020
was not only a UAE specific
event but was an
exposition of the whole
region.
“We have already started
the Design phase of the
Pakistan Pavilion reflecting
the true potentials of
Pakistan. The Prime
Minister has constituted a
high level steering committee
having representation
from private and public
sector stakeholders for
effective participation,” he
added.
The advisor noted that
the last month’s visit of
Prime Minister Imran
Khan and his meeting with
Sheikh Muhammad Bin
Zayed Al Nahyan set the
bilateral relation on a new
course.
Chinese companies are facing
problems due to US sanctions,
therefore, Pakistan can offer them
help in relocation to Pakistan
while investment in other sectors
can be persuaded.
Chinese investment in the agricultural
sector could be sought to
develop this sector and improve
the trade balance by exporting
agricultural products to China.
Both the countries can tackle
doubts over CPEC and decide to
Both sides agreed to
transform this special relationship
into strategic partnership
between the two
countries.
As a follow-up of the
understanding reached
between the leadership, a
15-member delegation
headed by Sultan Bin
Ahmad Sultan Al Jabar,
Minister of State and CEO
of Abu Dhabi National Oil
Company visited Pakistan
to explore the ways and
means to enhance cooperation
between the two countries
in economic development,
infrastructure, energy,
agriculture and petrochemicals
sectors.
PM Imran’s China visit to stabilise Pak economy: PEW
prioritize and expedite the projects
under the matchless Chinese initiative,
he said.
CPEC is a huge economic
opportunity which has created
80,000 jobs in Pakistan and by the
end of 2030, some 700,000 more
jobs will be created.
The strategic partnership
between Pakistan and China is not
against any third country while the
US-India relationship is clearly
meant to harm Pakistan and China.
Iran says US not able to
prevent its oil exports
KARACHI: Lunch Meeting in Jeddah Chamber of Commerce hosted by Vice President MazenM.Batterjee with Ziad Bassam Al-Baassam and Salman
Arain in honour SM Munir, leader of business community and Chief Petron UBG, ZubairTufail former President of FPCCI, Khalid Tawab,
SardarYasin Malik and Noor Ahmed Khan in Jeddah.
TEHRAN: Iran says the US can never
prevent it from selling crude oil to international
clients, stressing that no other supplier
can substitute the kind of oil it provides to
overseas markets.
Iran’s First Vice President Es’haq
Jahangiri was quoted by media as saying that
the government of President Hassan
Rouhani had already devised mechanisms to
counter the impacts of returning US sanctions
against the country’s oil exports.
Jahangiri emphasized that Iran had serious
plans to maintain oil exports above one
million barrels per day. “Iran exported as
much as 2.5 million barrels per day of oil
over the past months,” he told a local insurance
industry conference. “There had been a
decline of a few thousand barrels per day.
But we have always emphasized that Iran’s
exports should not decline below one million
barrels per day.” The administration of US
President Donald Trump is preparing to
launch the second wave of sanctions against
Iran from November 4 in which a universal
ban on the country’s oil exports appears to be
a primary objective. US officials have
already said the sanctions would be meant to
bring down Iran’s oil exports to zero.
However, Iranian officials have repeatedly
President Dr. Arif Alvi
visit, on the invitation
of Turkish President Recep
Tayyip Erdogan.
Talking to newsmen at
Islamabad Airport prior to
his departure, the President
said Turkey is an important
friend of Pakistan, which
has always supported us on
all issues, including
Kashmir.
He said besides Saudi
Arabia, we will also invite
other friendly countries to
invest in the country.
To a question, the
under the dynamic and
visionary leadership of
Imran Khan, was committed
in energy sector.
Those people who are
not paying electricity bills,
would have to bear the
crunch in shape of removing
meters from their areas or
houses, he said.
We are introducing
advance technology to
address the issues of high
line losses and administrative
problems.
An amount of five billion
dollars would be required
for improving the damaged
He said Pakistan had
been supporting Palestine
because like Kashmir, Gaza
had also been faced with
unprecedented atrocities.
During his stay in
Turkey, the President will
address the inaugural ceremony
of new International
Airport of Istanbul.
system, created by previous
governments, he said.
Some 900 million dollars
have been accumulated to
kick start the programe and
in this connection, the concerned
officials have been
directed to launch the programe
in LESCO and
IESCO, the minister said.
The discussion had been
made with Khyber
Pakhtunkhawa (KPK), concerned
officials to improve
the system in PESCO.
Due to the line losses and
other weak areas like transmission
lines, we had to face
or bear the burden of 650
billion rupee circular debt in
energy sector. The prime
minister Imran Khan had
given clear instruction to
concerned quarters to avoid
passing burden of tariff
increase to poor people, he
said. To a question about circular
debt of 1200 billion
rupee, he said that tariff rate
had been increased in power
sector, while action would
be taken against the power
pilferers and electricity bill
evaders, he added.
Presidents and Prime
Ministers of several other
countries will also participate
in the ceremony.
President Dr. Arif Alvi is
also expected to hold bilateral
meetings with his
Turkish counterpart and
leaders of other countries
on the occasion.
Pursuing the government’s
ongoing austerity
drive, the president opted to
travel through commercial
flight.
Setting aside the protocol,
the president himself
got his luggage security
screened and went through
the immigration process
after awaiting his turn in
the queue.
his visit, at Bhutto Mausoleum.
LARKANA: Sindh
Local Bodies Minister Saeed
Ghani said on Sunday that
no officer in Sindh can work
independently due to fear of
National Accountability
Bureau (NAB) actions.
"NAB has targeted Sindh
and its actions are only visible
in Sindh not in other
provinces," he said while
talking to newsmen in Garhi
Khuda Bux where he went
to offer his prayers at the
mazar of Bhutto leaders
today. He said NAB was
misusing its powers in Sindh
while its eyes were closed
because it had done nothing
against PTI as inquiries had
been started against PPP
leaders and arrests were
made by issuing warrants,
but PTI had been excluded
from this process. He said no
action had been taken in
Punjab, KPK and
Balochistan by NAB. He
said NAB had double standards
and they had serious
reservations against it.
UN asked to see plights
of Kashmiri people
LAHORE: Secretary
General, Jamaat e Islami,
Liaqat Baloch, has said that
India had violated the formula
of the division of the
sub continent by unlawfully
occupying Kashmir at
the time of partition by
and the Kashmiris were
protesting against that for
the last seventy years.
Addressing a Black Day
programme of the Ahbab
Convention at the Punjab
University, he said that the
Kashmiris had the right of
self determination and their
liberation movement was
destined to succeed. He
impressed upon the UN
and the world conscience
to abandon its criminal
silence over the bloodshed
in Kashmir and take
prompt steps to solve the
issue.
The JI Secretary
General noted that the
Islami Jamiat e Talaba had
always promoted healthy
and purposeful activities
and exposed the secular
elements striving for free
atmosphere at the campus.
I am of the view that NAB is
misusing its powers in
Sindh. In some districts of
Sindh, contingency sanitation
employees were
appointed and all these
employees were removed on
the directives of Water
Commission judge." He said
in some districts, those
employees were 200, somewhere
300 and somewhere
400 employees, who were
appointed to ensure cleanliness
but due to their removal
at a time, cleanliness issues
had surfaced.
