THE REGENCY AUCTION 29 LOT 38 1C 1931-D PCGS MS65 RD Mellow salmon-rose tone is dusted over the brilliant red mint luster. Sharply struck, this gem has a neat look in its first generation PCGS holder. Lightly toned at the lower obverse rim, it is only noticeable at certain angles in a bright light. The eye appeal is neat! PCGS 157, NGC 50. The last two non-CAC coins sold for $1,020 and the current CU value is listed at $1,050. RARE any finer, this gem is a great coin for any budget minded Lincoln cent collector. PCGS# 2617 | ESTIMATE: $900+ LOT 39 1C 1955 DOUBLED DIE. PCGS MS63 RB An original CHOICE Mint State Doubled Die cent. This famed issue has been a popular variety since its discovery and the doubling is visible to the naked eye. Housed in an early, first generation PCGS encapsulation, this lovely coin shows accents of red around the peripheries, otherwise the surfaces are toned to a lustrous steely-brown with accents of olive-tan and pale blue. Both sides are well struck and pleasing. PCGS 265, NGC 115. The last one sold for $3,720 in the 2018 ANA auction. Prior to that, one sold in June 2018 for $3,600 and one in April brought $3,360. The current PCGS value is listed at $3,750. We anticipate strong bidding for this popular variety. PCGS# 2826 | ESTIMATE: $2,800+ LOT 40 1C 1909 LINCOLN. PCGS PR66+ BN CAC This lovely, original GEM Matte Proof Lincoln is the second highest graded at PCGS! Rich medium brown surfaces show hints of original red along with accents of mahogany and aubergine highlights. This superb quality GEM is well preserved and devoid of any flaws. PCGS 19, NGC 4, CAC 7. This coin has never appeared in auction and is not the one that sold in our May 2017 auction for $1,350 hammer. Unpriced in 66+, it is certainly worth well in excess of the $1,500 listed in the Collector’s Universe guide for a 66 BN. There is just a single PR67 BN graded finer in the designation. PCGS# 3303 | ESTIMATE: $1,800+ LOT 41 1C 1909 LINCOLN. PCGS PR67 BN This is the SOLE FINEST 1909 Matte Proof Lincoln in the Brown color category at PCGS. The first year of the Matte Proof Lincolns, a series that was not appreciated at the time of issue, but today has a strong following among collectors saw a mintage of 2,198. The sharply struck up design elements stand out nicely against the sand blast surfaces. Rich brown surfaces are accented by a lovely teal-blue overtone. The surfaces are smooth and show no distracting marks or unevenness in the toning. The eye appeal is quite nice. PCGS 1, NGC 1. Neither this coin, nor the NGC coin have ever sold in auction. Indeed the finest BN graded 1909 Matte Proof to sell in auction was a PR66 BN. PCGS does not even list a value in its Price Guide. If you collect beautiful toned Matte Proof Lincoln cents, you need to bid on this FINEST certified example. PCGS# 3303 | ESTIMATE: $2,800+ 24
THE REGENCY AUCTION 29 LOT 42 1C 1910 PCGS PR67+ RD CAC A mix of heaven meeting earth here. This coin is so wild it does not deserve to even exist! This coin looks like it was just minted! Phenomenal to the nth degree surfaces are fully satiny and bold matte like in texture. There is not a single imperfection to be found anywhere. A bold and glowing unbroken luster flames all over. The color is a stunning rich GEM Mint Red with highlights of pale gold. Lincoln and every detail look like they were carved out by a doctor’s scalpel. The eye appeal is so incredible we doubt you’ll ever forget this coin! PCGS 6, NGC 2, CAC 4. There is just one other graded PR67+ RD and this is the first one ever graded. It is MORE than worthy of its designation. The current Collector’s Universe value is listed at $53,000 and this coin brought $41,125 in our July 2017 Regency Auction. We do believe it should score a “runaway” price. Legend has owned the magnificent 1C 1909 VDB PCGS PR67+ RB CAC piece (universally acknowledged to be the FINEST of any Matte Proof 1C). This coin is the only Matte Proof we have ever seen that ranks #2 to that.
