Introduction<br />

<strong>Mamak</strong> stall is a type of restaurant that operate by Indian which are<br />

Muslim. In Malaysia, mamak stall act as a place for people to gather.<br />

Most of the mamak stall have a better business at night. It is because we<br />

Malaysian likes to spend the night time at the mamak stall chit chatting<br />

with friends. The best part to gather at a mamak stall is the food is<br />

cheap and delicious. Most of the time mamak stall wouldn’t have a nice<br />

interior decoration in their stall. Normally their stall design will be<br />

very simple. There are still some of the people that do not like to have<br />

their meal at the mamak stall. It is because some of the mamak stall is<br />

have hygiene issue.

There are a lot of customers in the<br />

morning. Most of them are enjoying their<br />

breakfast in the mamak stall.


There are some of customers<br />

who just finish jogging at a<br />

park nearby in the mamak stall<br />

as well.


Here are the sauces for the Banana leaf rice. There<br />

are a lot of sauces at these counter. There are fish<br />

curry sauce, chicken curry sauce and some sambal.<br />

After you have ordered a banana leaf rice, you are<br />

able to choose your sauces from here.


The worker is serving the a plastic<br />

banana leaf rice for the customers.


These mamak stall will serve a plastic banana leaf as<br />

a plate for each customer who ordered roti. In few<br />

years back, this mamak stall are serving real banana<br />

leaf for the customers but due to the hygiene issue,<br />

they have changed it to a plastic banana leaf..


There are three types of sauces that this<br />

restaurant provide for the customers to eat with<br />

the roti, which is Dhal, Curry Ikan and Curry.<br />

Customers can choose based on their favour.


Serving Style<br />

The workers will put your roti on to the plastic banana leaf. If you<br />

orders two type of roti, they will put all your roti onto a your plastic<br />

banana leaf as well.

According to the stall culture, the customers have to rate the<br />

food by folding the banana leaf upward or downward. If you<br />

folding it downward, that’s mean the food is delicious. If you<br />

folding it upward, that’s mean it is not delicious.

This mamak stall is considered as the most famous<br />

mamak stall in Kepong area.<br />

This mamak stall is named as Big Tree Head mamak<br />

stall is because it is surrounded by many trees. This<br />

mamak stall is more recognise as a place for the<br />

teenagers to gather. Most of the teenagers like to<br />

gather at these mamak stall is because the food there<br />

is cheap and all the food is delicious.


After dinner, the teenagers like to gather at the<br />

mamak and chit chatting with their friends. They<br />

like to spend their time at the mamak stall.


Here is how the mamak stall looks like on the inside. It is<br />

located beside the road. So most of the car will be double park<br />

beside the road. This mamak stall have around 60 to 70 tables<br />

that can fit around 200 to 300 people. During Friday and<br />

Saturday night, this mamak stall will be full of crowd.

members will have their<br />

dinner there.


Usually, the mamak owner will air live football matches on a<br />

huge projector screen for their customers to enjoy.<br />

Watching football matches in mamak stall is a whole new<br />

experience as since everyone will cheer for their team. It is<br />

far more exciting than watching alone at home.


This is the place for the workers to prepare the drinks. Although the place<br />

do not look really clean but the drinks are still consider as clean.

Fried Chicken<br />

Here is a photo of the must order food at Big<br />

Tree Head mamak stall. Their fried chicken is<br />

known as the best fried chicken in Kepong<br />

area. Their fried chicken is crispy and have<br />

some taste of the Indian spice. So it is very<br />

delicious.


Roti Cheese


Cheese Naan / Roti Cheese<br />

Next is the food that the stall invented themselves, the<br />

cheese naan. Cheese naan also known as the roti<br />

cheese. The process of making the cheese naan is pretty<br />

similar to the process of making the roti telur. The only<br />

thing different is changed the egg into cheese. Roti<br />

cheese. You have to eat the cheese naan while it is still<br />

hot. While it is still hot, you are able to enjoy the taste<br />

the combination of the melted cheese and the roti.

World Cup, mamak stall will be twice crowded than<br />

usual. <strong>Mamak</strong> is the best thing that can represent<br />

Malaysia. So as a Malaysian, we should appreciate<br />

this culture and share it with the next generation as<br />

well.
