world. According to the 2017 Global Destination Cities Index<br />

by Mastercard, the emirate welcomed a staggering 15.79<br />

million international tourists, surpassing the likes of Kuala<br />

Lumpur, Hong Kong and Barcelona. <strong>Dubai</strong> International Airport<br />

welcomed 904,940 passengers in the same year, which made it<br />

one of the world's busiest airports for international travel.<br />

In 2016, Mastercard ranked <strong>Dubai</strong> as the city with the highest<br />

international overnight visitor spend - a whopping USD 28.50<br />

billion, more than New York, London and Singapore. According<br />

to analysis from the <strong>Dubai</strong> Chamber of Commerce, spending<br />

within <strong>Dubai</strong>’s tourism and travel sector is expected to reach<br />

more than $56 billion in 2022.<br />
