PeppertreeArtShow.Itwasstagedinthe25,000sq.ftRidingArenaatFlagIsUpFarms.<br />

The8thAnnual<strong>SLOPOKE</strong>ArtoftheWestExhibitionandSalewasheldatFlagIsUpFarms,thethoroughbredhorseranchof<br />
MontyRoberts,theHorseWhispererandPatRoberts,anaccomplishedhorsewomanandsculptor,inSolvang,California.Awards<br />
werepresentedataFridayeveningReceptionfortheArtistsandtheshowopenedtothepubliconSaturdayandSunday,<br />
October6thand7th<br />
ConcertguitaristJonStephenprovidedoriginalmusiconbothdays,withOpoloVineyardsprovidingwineandCaliforniaTacos<br />
providingfood.OnSaturday,abrieffineartauctionwasconductedbyprofesionalauctioneerJim Glinestoraisefundsforthe<br />
Join-UpInternational,a501(c)3whichsupportsfree3-dayHorseSenseandHealingworkshopsforveteransandfirst<br />
responderswithposttraumaticstresinjuries.<br />
Over100visitorssignedtheregisterandanother45purchasedticketsinadvance.Artsaleswerestrongwithapproximately<br />
40%oftheartistspresentselingart;severalsoldmultipleworks,and3bronzesculpturesweresoldattheshow.Visitorspraised<br />
thevenueandthequalityoftheart,artistsandpresentation.Examples:<br />

Over400renownedartistswereinvitedtoapplyforthe<strong>SLOPOKE</strong>and31artistwerejuriedintotheeventthisyear.Thesize<br />
ofthe<strong>SLOPOKE</strong>isdeliberatelylimiredtoapproximately25+/-superiorartistsforthebenefitofartcolectorswhocanbeter<br />
comprehendandgettoknowtheseartistsastheyconsideranacquisition.<strong>SLOPOKE</strong><strong>2018</strong>AwardrecipientsincludedEzraTucker,<br />

Artauctionsoutsidethesphereofthoseheldbythelargestauctionhousesarevery<br />
dificulttoaccomplish.Nevertheles,inordertobuildsomeexcitementandcontribute<br />
toaworthycharity,weincorporatedafineartauctionintothescheduleofevents.<br />
OnSaturday,afineartauctionof9-lotswasconductedbyprofesionalauctioneeer<br />
Jim Glinesandhisteam ofspotersasafundraiserfor501(c)3Join-UpInternational,<br />
thecharityestablishedbytheRobertstohelpfundHorseSenseandHealingWorkshops<br />
forveteransandfirstresponderswithposttraumaticstresinjuries.Agraduateofthis<br />
program,AlejandraSanchez,helpswithshowingtheauctionlotsalongwithTeresena<br />
Bakensinthephotographsabove.Theselotswereofartnoteasilyaccesibleandthey<br />
weredeliberatelydiferentthantheartonexhibitsothatpeoplewereencouragedto<br />
buyofthewalratherthanwaitforanauction.Thehighlightoftheauctionwasan<br />
originalChanningPeake.<br />
