Jones and three write-in candidates in the General Election on Nov. 6. A 14-year veteran of Congress, Lipinski dominated the competition on election night. Out of a total 217,799 votes cast, Lipinski earned 160,501 (73.69 percent), while Jones got 57,298 (26.31), according to unofficial results from the Chicago Board of Elections, as well as clerk’s offices in suburban Cook, Will and DuPage counties, as of Friday, Nov. 9. In Chicago, Lipinski earned 55,813 votes (83.69) to 10,876 (16.31) for Jones. Lipinski had 86,159 (71.31) in suburban Cook, with 252 out of 252 precincts reporting, where Jones had 34,670 (28.69). In Will County, Lipinski earned 18,198 (55.90), while Jones gained 11,576 (38.11), with 100 percent of precincts reporting. And in DuPage, Lipinski had 331 votes (65.29), while Jones 176 (34.71). Following his victory, Lipinski issued a statement. “I want to thank the voters for giving me the honor of representing the Third District for another two years in the U.S. House of Representatives,” he wrote. “The results demonstrate that voters want more of my commonsense leadership that brings people together, and has produced results for the district and the country.” In suburban Cook County, the turnout for the district was 52.19 percent. In Will County, it was 57.05. Mike Kelley wins second term in Will County Sheriff ’s race Max Lapthorne Contributing Editor Lockport resident Mike Kelley will be serving a second term as Will County Sheriff after defeating challenger Jim Reilly in the Nov. 6 General Election, according to unofficial results from the Will County Clerk’s website. Kelley was named on 57.83 percent of ballots, while Reilly received 42.17 percent of votes. There were 240,669 total votes cast, with Kelley receiving 139,188 as of tallies Friday, Nov. 9. “We basically ran on our accomplishments of the last four years,” Kelley said. “We just wanted the people of Will County to know our message and what we accomplished the last four years and what they had to look forward to if they reelected us.” Kelley began his career with the Will County Sheriff’s Office in 1988. He said he plans to continue to focus on the opioid crisis in his second term, adding that his administration has had success fighting the epidemic in the unincorporated areas of Will County, and he wants to expand their efforts into county municipalities. “We started a lot of great programs in the last four years to combat this heroin epidemic,” Kelley said. “.... What I really want to do is extend our resources into the municipalities and get them involved in our prevention coalition so it can be a joint effort where everybody is on the same page... We’ve been pretty successful in unincorporated Will County and we want to take our show on the road.” Kelley expressed gratitude for the support he received from voters. “We’re going to make them glad that they voted us back in for four more years,” he said.

Foster He beat Republican Nick Stella, according to unofficial totals from Will, Cook, DuPage, Kane and Kendall Counties’ clerks’ offices. As of Nov. 9, Foster secured 140,907 votes (63.56 percent) and Stella tallied 72,967 across the counties. The largest population Foster serves in the 11th District is in Will County, where he received 64,954 out of 101,126 votes. “I was looking forward to calling the race from the vote from Will County alone, and it looks like that’s what happened,” he said. His biggest victory margin was in Kane County, though, where he took 71.16 percent of the vote with all 74 precincts reported. In DuPage County, he tallied 48,355 votes to 31,173, with all 218 precincts reported. With all 26 precincts reported in Kendall County, he took 7,742 votes, and Stella had 4,638. Stella narrowly won the votes in suburban Cook County with 1,107 votes to Foster’s 895 in all four precincts. “It feels so far that it’s likely to be my biggest victory to date, and I’m just really gratified that all of the work that I put in for the people I represent has been recognized,” Foster said. Brophy defeats incumbent Weber for Will Co. Treasurer’s position Amanda Villiger Assistant Editor The votes are in, and Mokena resident Steve Weber is out. Challenger Brophy Tim Brophy took more than 51 percent of the votes for Will County Treasurer over incumbent Weber, who got just shy of 49 percent. The vote was decided by just 5,193 votes, with 100 percent of precincts reporting, according to unofficial election results as of Friday, Nov. 9. Brophy collected 122,605 votes (51.08 percent) to Weber’s 117,412 votes (48.92 percent). Brophy was nominated as Seeking Seasonal Help? Advertise in the Classifieds!
