laptop computers. I bought a scanner with a marked price of $149, <strong>and</strong> a desktop<br />

computer with a marked price of $1299. How much did I pay after the sale price had<br />

been taken into account?<br />

(b) Later that day, one of my friends bought a new laptop computer <strong>and</strong> a laser printer<br />

for $1871.25. If the marked price of the printer was $375, what was the marked<br />

price of the laptop?<br />

2. (a) The music shop has 10% off the marked price of all DVDs <strong>and</strong> 15% off the marked<br />

price of all CDs. I bought 2 DVDs, which have a marked price of $15 each, <strong>and</strong> 4<br />

CDs, which have marked price of $25 each. How much did I pay?<br />

(b) My friend also bought some DVDs <strong>and</strong> CDs. At the check out he paid $83. What<br />

could he have bought?<br />

3. (a) The department store is selling T-shirts at $19.99 each or 3 for $50. It is also selling<br />

board shorts at 10% off the marked price of $25. If I spent $145, what could I have<br />

bought?<br />

(b) As I had spent over $100, I was eligible for a store discount card which would give<br />

me 5% off all future purchases. How much would I have spent if I could have used<br />

the card on my previous purchases?<br />

(c) My friend also bought 3 T-shirts <strong>and</strong> 4 board shorts. How much did he spend?<br />
