We’ve been working with people with sight loss and their families for over 150 years. Vista provides support and services to almost 12,000 children and adults with sight loss. As well as rehabilitation, social groups, and 300 pupils in Leicester set to become ‘Rugby Reading Champions’ Jim Sells, Sport and Literacy Programme Manager at the National Literacy Trust, said: “We’ve seen first-hand how bringing sport into the classroom can level the playing field for children who have fallen behind in their reading. Rugby is an important part of family life in Leicester, so we are thrilled to be working with Leicester Tigers to get children who might otherwise be disengaged with reading excited about it. Rugby Reading Champions are bursting with inspirational materials to get children reading Suitable for SEN young people with Autism/SLD/MLD, this fully inclusive musical experience brings together different styles of music from Rock to Samba, Hip Hop and the spoken word. Each session includes playing a variety of instruments e.g. drums, keyboards and guitars. Technology like Ableton Push and Soundbeam is used to enhance the music that the young people create. No experience needed, just come residential services, Vista provide specialist services for people with learning disabilities, dementia and dual sensory impairment. You must apply for a school place through the home Local Authority that you live in, and the best way to apply if ‘Get Funky’ this January to help local families in need Charity Link is a local charity supporting vulnerable families in hardship and crisis. On Friday 25th January Charity Link are inviting schools, businesses and individuals to support its dress up event, Wear a Funky Scarf Day, to help raise funds. For every £10 raised Charity Link can provide £50 worth of essential items to those in need, including food, grants for utilities, clothing (including winter coats and school uniforms), beds and cookers so vulnerable families can have a hot meal.
