“It is no surprise that a path<br />
of contemplative and spiritual<br />
deepening, of opening to complex<br />
and intimate relationships in<br />
community, and of building power and<br />
strategizing about disrupting violent<br />
systemic and societal norms raises<br />
complex and deep questions about<br />
identity, spirituality, despair,<br />
hope, and meaning. My hope in joining<br />
the Practicum was to become better<br />
equipped to hold space for these<br />
questions, challenges, and insights.<br />
For me, the Spiritual Direction<br />
Practicum was a welcome learning<br />
community among whom I could ask<br />
questions about and thoughtfully<br />
engage with the craft of loving<br />
spiritual accompaniment. Every<br />
month, in the retreat-like gathering<br />
days, I was able to both deepen<br />
in my own articulation of what<br />
spiritual direction means to me and<br />
to interrogate how to better support<br />
the emergence of my directees’ own<br />
wisdom.”<br />
