The New Wonders: Sun Jan 6
They’ve been called one of New York City’s top
traditional jazz bands -- and they’re coming to
Haddonfield on Sun Jan 6, 2 to 4:30pm, to make
their Tri-State Jazz Society debut.
Mike Davis and The New Wonders will perform at
Haddonfield United Methodist Church, 29 Warwick
Rd. The seven-piece band, with cornet/trumpet,
reeds, trombone, piano, guitar/banjo, bass sax, and
drums -– can be seen for only $10 if you’re a firsttimer
or a member of theTri-State Jazz Society. It’s
$20 for general admission. Tickets will be at the
door only. Students with ID, and younger children
with a paying adult, are free.

Center for the Performing Arts will present Stone
Mountain Road in concert. The Haddon Heights
band offers traditional Bluegrass with a modern
flair. The concert will take place in the Grace Performance
Hall at Grace Episcopal Church.

Live nativity at Baptist church
The children of the First Baptist Church of
Haddonfield will present an outdoor live nativity on
Fri Dec 14 at 7 and 7:30pm. All are invited to share
the story of Christmas as the scene unfolds in the
manger, complete with live animals.
Handbells will ring, and hot chocolate and
cookies will be offered during this traditional
Christmas event.

Feed My Starving Children
World hunger is on the rise again. Today,
over 820 million people are suffering chronic
undernourishment, according to the United Nations.
Hunger still causes nearly half the deaths
of children under 5. Feed My Starving Children is
playing a role in turning this trend around. In 2017
more than 900,000 were fed each day around the
globe with food packed by volunteers such as those
in Haddonfield. The First Presbyterian Church is
helping plan the 2019 Packing Event, and their
Guiding Team meets monthly at 7pm in the church

Lessons and Carols service Sun Dec 16
In preparation for the Christmas season, the Lutheran Church of Our Savior
will present a special Lessons and Carols service on Sun Dec 16 at 10:30am.
This festive service, themed Jesus the Light of the World, will celebrate the
Advent and Christmas seasons with adult and youth choirs, orchestra, and
organ, and feature the works of renowned composers including G.F. Handel.
Advent and Christmas readings and hymns round out the service, and will
include such classics as “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel” and “Hark the Herald
Angels Sing.” In celebration of the 200th composition of “Silent Night,” there
will be a special arrangement of that beloved carol. Choral works include “And
the Glory of the Lord” from Handel’s Messiah, Carolyn Jennings’ arrangement of
“Go Tell It On the Mountain,” and other anthems of the season.
All, including families with children, are encouraged to attend. There will be
refreshments before the service. The Lutheran Church is at 204 Wayne Ave.

Conducted by Polly
Murray, the concert is
centered around
Benjamin Britten’s “A
Ceremony of Carols” and
other favorites for the
Christmas season, much
of which is performed
with guest artist Megan
Hoeflicker on harp. “A
Ceremony of Carols” was
composed in part during
the five week journey
that Britten spent
sailing from New York to
England in 1942.
During the voyage
the ship stopped in
Halifax, Nova Scotia,
where Britten purchased
a book of medieval
poetry. Poems from
this book were partly
the inspiration for this
masterwork for choir
and harp.
Other selections on
the program are: “Carol
of the Bells,”“Go Where
I Send Thee,” “Riu Riu
Chiu,” “Ya viena vieja,”as
well as a traditional
holiday sing-along for
the audience.

will host a morning networking event from 8 to 9am on Fri Dec 7 at Dynamic
Language Services, 258 Kings Hwy E. Ludovico’s will cater.
The Professionals events offer an opportunity for area professionals to
network with one another. It’s free, and requires no registration.
“Our monthly networking events this past year have proved to be a great
opportunity for local, like-minded professionals to meet and discuss ideas and
knowledge of their industry,” said Anne Picking, chair of the Professionals
Committee. “We’re looking forward to hosting our final event of the year on
December 7,” she continued.
Professional networking events alternate between the first Friday of the

SJ Chorus: Two holiday shows (one ... Disney!)
The Greater South Jersey Chorus, the Ensemble in Residence for Haddonfield
Center and School for the Performing Arts at Grace Church in Haddonfield,
presents “A Disney Holiday Celebration,” Sun Dec 9 at 3pm at Eastern High
School, 1401 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees. In a new collaboration, the chorus
will share the stage with the Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey and the
Whitman Elementary School Chorus to bring you holiday favorites and familiar
Disney classics. Tickets are $30.

chorus will present “A Winter’s Night,” with Spanish-influenced carols and
