Squirrel Wellykins
In October Joyce Williams was tidying
her allotment and shed ready for the
winter and decided to remove her old
Wellies and replace them with a
better pair from home.
She picked the old ones up in the
shed, one was heavier than the other
and rattled. Wondering what animal
she had caught in her boot she
carefully tipped it upside down and
out fell a pile of nuts.
A Squirrel had been storing its winter
food in one Welly and probably
decided to hibernate in the other.
She left the nuts in a pile on the floor
next to the new Wellies. She went
back two days later to check on the
nuts. Alas the nuts had all
disappeared. After a search in the
shed she could not find any trace of
them. The Squirrel had moved house.
