ACC AUSTRALIA CORPORATE ALLIANCE PARTNERS<br />

ACC Annual Meeting <strong>2018</strong> a Success<br />

ACC’s <strong>2018</strong> Annual Meeting (#ACCAM<strong>2018</strong>)<br />

was held in Austin, Texas from October<br />

21 to 24. Over 3,600 in-house counsel,<br />

representing global brands, including<br />

Microsoft, Booz Allen Hamilton, Disney,<br />

Exxon Mobil, Capital One, along with<br />

exhibitors and speakers were in attendance,<br />

and thankfully stayed, despite a temporary<br />

drinking water crisis in Austin.<br />

The meeting featured a host of panel<br />

discussions, roundtables, workshops and<br />

covered a range of topics extending across<br />

budgeting for small legal departments,<br />

Artificial Intelligence and the future of<br />

in-house counsel, negotiating tactics,<br />

workplace diversity, and limiting liability in<br />

global operations.<br />

The 2019 Annual Meeting will be held in<br />

Phoenix, Arizona from October 27-30, 2019.<br />

ACC Elects Simon A. Fish as Board Chair,<br />

Adrian Gross to Board<br />

Last month, ACC named the 2019 officers of<br />

the global Board of Directors. Chairing the<br />

Board will be Simon A. Fish, Executive Vice<br />

President and General Counsel at the BMO<br />

Financial Group in Canada.<br />

Mr. Fish is responsible for BMO's legal,<br />

regulatory and compliance affairs. This<br />

includes corporate governance, mergers<br />

and acquisitions, capital markets and<br />

banking regulation, and complex litigation.<br />

He is also responsible for the bank's<br />

ethics, ombudsman, sustainability, and<br />

investigations functions. He serves as<br />

adviser to the chair of the board of directors<br />

and is a member of the bank's executive<br />

committee. He chairs the bank's reputation<br />

risk committee, and the environmental,<br />

social and corporate governance<br />

committee. He also serves as BMO's<br />

executive diversity champion and serves on<br />

the boards of a number of non-profit and<br />

charitable organisations.<br />

Other directors include Vice Chair Anneliese<br />

Reinhold, General Counsel and Senior Vice<br />

President of regulatory affairs at du, in the<br />

United Arab Emirates; and, among others,<br />

the antipodean Adrian Gross, General<br />

Counsel at Bauer Media. Mr. Gross is a past<br />

director of ACC Australia.<br />

Veta T. Richardson, ACC President and CEO.<br />
