24 • www.grays-hockey.com • Grays <strong>Hockey</strong> 2019/20 KMG Graduating with a degree in painting KMG is an artist and illustrator whose creative career has lead her to focus on exhibiting, mural design and commercial projects. She spent her youth encouraged to challenge and experience as much as possible, which resulted in more than a few broken bones, red faces and concussions. Due to this curious nature she has grown up with a desire to explore everything ranging from the precarious to the mundane. A weird combination of youthful enthusiasm mixed with utter cynicism leaves her work with a sarcastic, raw and yet playful tone. Grays contacted me with the concept of creating a fantastical landscape crammed full of different characters. We wanted to create an image that appealed to a wide demographic so I worked on a series of characters that I felt were fun enough for a younger audience but also cheeky and edgy enough for older players. Geographic shapes and organic forms were introduced throughout the characters to give a sense of a fictional world that the viewer can explore and discover new elements. I loved the idea of creating a monochrome composition that could be customised by the sticks owner, giving them the opportunity to have a stick which was unique to their own personality and offer them a chance to be part of the creative process.
