Prerequisites
Possessing a patent Officer in charge of navigational watch
objectives
This course provides additional training for deck officers on the principles of
watchkeeping on the bridge, travel planning, management and organization at
the navigation bridge (STCW B-VIII / 2, Part 3-1 ).
Program:
Principles and sea travel planning - Practical use of the travel plan
Rules and practices in force for keeping a navigational watch
operational practices for the efficient use of equipment and staff gateway
Organization of bridge team (Operational Level - Level Management)
Practical exercises:
o collisions with other sea vessels
o Navigation in reduced visibility
o Application of Rule 17 by the primary vessel
o Navigation in heavy traffic areas
o Navigation in areas with restricted ability to maneuver - risk of
collision with several other ships
o Navigation through a traffic separation zone in dense traffic
(TSS)
o From a port and arrival at the pilot station to another port sailing
in heavy traffic areas
o Approach a congested anchorage area, intending to anchor
o Navigating a narrow channel
o Navigation with the assistance of a pilot, part of the bridge team
