Culligan Water of Fairmont is celebrating<br />
70 years of business with the Johnson family<br />
and it’s valuable employees continuing to provide services. Culligan was<br />
brought to Fairmont in 1949 when Glen Johnson purchased the dealership<br />
and ran it out of his garage. The business grew and eventually expanded to<br />
Faribault, Jackson and Cottonwood counties. Glen built a dealership facility<br />
in Fairmont in 1962 where the dealership still resides today. In 1972 Glen<br />
sold the dealerships to his two sons Richard and Tom Johnson. Richard took<br />
over the Fairmont dealership and Tom the Jackson location. Twenty years<br />
later, in 1992, Richard’s son Rich Johnson moved back to Fairmont after<br />
graduating from Augustana University and joined his father in their family<br />
business. In 1997 Rich married Stephanie Johnson and bought out his dad<br />
to start the 3rd generation of Culligan Water in Fairmont. Rich and Stephanie<br />
live in Fairmont where they are raising their two sons Jayden and Jaxon. Culligan<br />
Water of Fairmont is located at the 1962 building location and today the<br />
building features multiple expansions made over the past decades. Culligan<br />
Water services include water softeners, iron filters, drinking systems, bottled<br />
water, and an outdoor vended water system featuring reverse osmosis purified<br />
water and alkaline water. Homeowners and businesses receive help<br />
with anything that deals with making water better! Excellent service, quality<br />
products, and dedicated employees are what have kept Culligan Water in<br />
business for 70 years! The support of the communities served is appreciated<br />
and Culligan looks forward to continuing to serve the water needs for all. Culligan<br />
Water of Fairmont looks forward to celebrating 70 years of business all<br />
year long with a variety of specials and an open house.<br />

Starting the year off for us is a Brazilian A Capella<br />
group on <strong>January</strong> 13th at 3:00 PM. The<br />
band formed in 2013 is now on their first international world tour. They sing<br />
Brazilian arrangements as well as current pop standards. Come enjoy an Evening<br />
of Piano with Jason Farnham this <strong>January</strong>. You'll get to enjoy a mix of contemporary<br />
and classic piano pieces- along with some originals. This is more<br />
than just your average piano performance, so make sure you're here to see all<br />
the surprises! Jason will be performing <strong>January</strong> 19th at 7:30PM.<br />

Fairmont Raceway “Racer’s Reunion” on Friday, <strong>January</strong><br />
18! The night is dedicated to honoring all of the past<br />
track champions. Come enjoy a delicious grilled pork loin dinner and watch the<br />
Chili Bowl live! Social starts at 5:00, food at 6:30, then there will be a presentation<br />
and live auction. Tickets are being sold through the Holiday Inn front desk.<br />

Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont welcomes new behavioral<br />
health provider Cathleen LaLonde, Ph.D., to practice at<br />
Fairmont hospital. Cathleen LaLonde, Ph.D., recently joined<br />
Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont and began seeing behavioral<br />
health patients Dec. 3. A Clinical Psychologist, Dr.<br />
LaLonde’s primary professional focus is the emotional and mental health of<br />
patients. This includes many areas of behavioral health service, such as anxiety,<br />
depression, trauma work, women’s health and mood or emotional symptoms<br />
related to chronic health conditions. For more information on Dr. LaLonde and<br />

We are pleased to announce the addition of Blake Potthoff, Executive<br />
Director of the Fairmont Opera House, Inc., to our 13 member Board of<br />
Directors. Blake will be stepping in to serve out the remainder of the threeyear<br />
term vacated by Luke Long of Hy-Vee upon his relocation.<br />
Blake's background in non-profit management and his experience<br />
in building community engagement will provide a unique perspective and<br />
insight on our board of directors. Blake’s term on our board will begin <strong>January</strong><br />
of <strong>2019</strong> and extend through December of 2020. We welcome Blake to<br />
the board of the Fairmont Area <strong>Chamber</strong> of Commerce and we thank him<br />
for his commitment to serve our community and this organization.
