Pending sales of homes in the U.S. fell
again in November to a four-year low in
another sign of widespread weakness in
the real-estate market that’s likely to continue
into 2019.
Pending sales declined 2.3% in the
Midwest in November, the National Association
of Realtors said last week. But wait
– that report was compiled before a sharp
drop in interest rates in the past month that
have made mortgages a bit cheaper.
If a new home isn’t a part of your New
Year’s resolutions, maybe it should be.
Mortgage rates are heading south, giving
much-needed relief to worried potential
homebuyers. Mortgage rates may continue
their descent in the coming days. The Federal
Reserve hiked interest rates just before
Christmas, causing long-term Treasury yields,
which mortgage rates follow, to tumble.

Fischer & Frichtel offers 3.85%

As the economy becomes increasingly
rate-sensitive, Fischer & Frichtel has
announced a mortgage financing program
that’s sure to grab the attention of buyers
hoping to invest in a new home this year.
In collaboration with Central Bank of St.
Louis, Fischer is offering 3.85% financing
on to-be-built and move-in-ready homes in
all of its current communities in St. Louis
and St. Charles counties.
Developed exclusively for Fischer &
Frichtel, the 5/1 adjustable-rate mortgage
[ARM] is available to qualified purchasers
through Jan. 31 – at no cost to the buyer.
Adding still more flexibility, the 3.85%
interest rate can be locked in for 90 days
from the date of purchase.
With Annual Percentage Rates for fixedrate
mortgages now hovering around 5%,
this plan presents new-home buyers with
two valuable money-saving options. At
3.85%, owners can significantly reduce
their monthly payment for the first five
years or, alternatively, purchase more home
for the same monthly expenditure.
