APTMA elects new central Chairman<br />

Syed Ali Ahsan, chief executive of<br />

Ashiana Cotton Products Limited, has<br />

been elected unopposed as central<br />

chairman of the All Pakistan Textile<br />

Mills Association (Aptma). Aptma, in a<br />

notice issued recently announced the<br />

results, which were earlier withheld<br />

due to the order of the Peshawar High Court in a<br />

petition dated September 19, <strong>2018</strong>. Now the court<br />

has dismissed the petition due to jurisdictional<br />

maintainability.<br />

Ahsan has also served as chairman, APTMA Punjab<br />

in the past. Meanwhile, both Naveed Gulzar from<br />

Crescent Cotton Mills Ltd and Asif Inam from<br />

Diamond International Corporation Ltd have been<br />

elected as central vice chairmen respectively, the<br />

notification added.<br />

Mehanti sworn in as<br />

new Sindh Chief for JI<br />

Former MNA Muhammad<br />

Hussain Mehanti was sworn in<br />

as the new Emir (Chief) of the<br />

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Sindh<br />

recently.<br />

Previously, Mehanti served as<br />

the vice provincial chief and<br />

Karachi chief. Besides, he was<br />

also elected an MNA of the party<br />

from the Muttahida Majlis-e-<br />

Amal platform in General<br />

Election 2002. He was also<br />

awarded a ticket to contest<br />

General Election <strong>2018</strong> for an NA<br />

seat but could not succeed.<br />

According to a statement<br />

issued by the party, Mehanti<br />

joined the JI in 1973. Earlier, he<br />

Engro Foods inks MoU with IFC<br />

for dairy market development<br />

Engro Foods Limited, core purpose<br />

is to provide better nutrition to<br />

Pakistan, a good living to farmers,<br />

hands with the International<br />

Finance Corporation (IFC), a<br />

member of the prestigious World<br />

memorandum was to initiate joint<br />

efforts to unlock the potential and<br />

strengthen the development of<br />

Pakistan's dairy industry. Both the<br />

organization will work together to<br />

promote sustainable living for<br />

farmers and reduce poverty by<br />

e n a b l i n g d a i r y f a r m e r<br />

empowerment. The MoU promises<br />

to facilitate the farmer and other<br />

stakeholder access to knowledge,<br />

technology and financing and to<br />

empower women along dairy value<br />

chains. Speaking at the occasion Ali<br />

Ahmed Khan, Managing Director<br />

Engro Foods Limited said, "Engro<br />

Foods purpose to provide better<br />

nutrition to Pakistan and a good<br />

living to our farmers remains the<br />

core of every initiative we<br />

undertake. We work with 250,000+<br />

d a i r y f a r m e r s a n d h a v e<br />

disseminated over 1 million<br />

trainings on best dairy farming<br />

practices. Our farmers have<br />

received Rs. 51 billion as direct<br />

incomes from Engro Foods since<br />
