<strong>The</strong> <strong>West</strong> <strong>Wing</strong><br />

11th ANNUAL ELMHURST COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL ART EXHIBITION<br />

<strong>Leyden</strong> students exhibited a total of 128 pieces of student artwork in the Founders Lounge at the Frick Center<br />

at Elmhurst College from January 6 to January 20. Ten area high schools participated in this exhibit. <strong>Leyden</strong><br />

students received a total of 23 awards. Two of those awards also came with a $1,000 scholarship renewable<br />

for 4 years to Elmhurst College. <strong>The</strong> skilled art students who won those awards are Erin Chuang of East <strong>Leyden</strong><br />

and Becky Kauke of <strong>West</strong> <strong>Leyden</strong>. <strong>The</strong> artist’s reception took place on Wednesday, January 13.<br />

ANNUAL TRITON COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL ART COMPETITION<br />

This year's Triton College <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> Art Competition took place on Saturday, January 9. <strong>The</strong>re were 9 high<br />

schools participating and 586 artworks submitted. 214 pieces were selected to be in the art show. <strong>Leyden</strong> artwork<br />

accounts for 80 of those accepted. Artworks are submitted in 7 different categories; including drawing,<br />

painting, photography, graphic design, mixed media, sculpture, and ceramics.<br />

<strong>Leyden</strong> students took Best of Category in both the Graphic Design and the Painting Categories. East <strong>Leyden</strong><br />

student Mayra Orozco won Best of Category in Painting for her acrylic portrait titled “Timide.” Kevin Roemer,<br />

also an East <strong>Leyden</strong> student, won Best of Graphic Design for “Destination,” a digital collage inspired by<br />

a family vacation. <strong>The</strong>re will be an artists' reception, open to the public, on Wednesday, February 10th, from 6<br />

to 9 p.m. Students who received Best of Category awards will be recognized at 7:30 p.m. <strong>The</strong> work will be on<br />

display through February 11th at the Triton Art Gallery, Building J, on the Triton campus. Complete list on<br />
