WHAT A HECTIC TERM!
The past 2 months have passed in the blink of an eye with several major events being held
at GIS. Firstly, as promised to the students, we organised a badminton tournament in November
to help raise donations for multiple charities. We not only had students competing,
but also teachers including our Principal, Mrs Hawtree! I must say, our Head Boy really
struggled going against her team.
Moving on, who can forget the spectacular Christmas Fair we just had? I’m sure you all
told Santa what you wanted for Christmas! Having more than 20 stalls, this year’s Christmas
Fair was packed with people, enjoyment and new stalls run by the IB1s such as table
tennis!
All of this was immediately followed by a Christmas concert where students joined to share
some Christmas spirit to GIS. The programme consisted of the orchestra, choirs and a
special performance from our very own staff choir.
This year, our IB1 leadership team organised a ‘candygram’ service, where students could
send each other candy canes with a sweet card they wrote. Having over 300 candy canes
being bought within Secondary alone, this event was a major success. As a result we
raised money for our school charities. Finally, as the holidays are coming up, we wish the
Year 11s and IB2 students the best of luck for their revision towards their upcoming mock
examinations in January. We are sure you will all do your best.
