The Community Church of Wilmette (1020 Forest Avenue, Wilmette) Dinner set for Jan. 20 Everyone in the Wilmette community is invited to join The Community Church of Wilmette for Dinner Church at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 20. The church thinks of Dinner Church as both a wonderful worship service and a great dinner party. Every Dinner Church begins with a story and music for the kids in the community. Afterward, all the kids are invited to the Children’s Activity Room for their own meal and playtime. Before dinner, we share our joys and concerns with one another along with communion. After the meal, we spend time reflecting on how we live out our faith in our daily lives. Cohen was the cherished son of the late Charles and Irene Cohen; loving father of Gabriella and Ariana Cohen. Daniel is also survived by his former wife Jerrilyn Musachia. Private graveside services will be held in New York. For information please call 847- 256-5700. Constance Tippens Jordan Constance Tippens Jordan, 96, a longtime resident of Wilmette, died Jan. 1. Jordan was born on July 12, 1922 in Grand Rapids, Mich. and grew up as the eldest child of Albert Harris and Constance Felt Tippens residing in Wyoming, Shaker Heights, Ohio, Lake Forest and Winnetka. She was a proud alumna of Ferry Hall (now a part of Lake Forest Academy) and a student of art in Boston, the University of Arizona, where she was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. She married the love of her life, Horace W. Jordan, in 1951 and for the next 60 years together they raised four children, Robert Y. Jordan, Constance Jordan Lochridge, David C. Jordan and Horace (Hob) W. Jordan, Jr. Jordan was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her sister Anne Buck, children Bob, Connie (Scott) and Hob (Diana); her grandchildren Kati (Stephen), Natalie, Scott, Calla, Gwen, Taryn and Charlotte; her great-grandchildren Wesley Kate, Blake, and Kendall; cherished sistersin-law, cousins and many loving nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son David and her husband Horace. In addition to her family, she dedicated her life to volunteer work. During World War II she worked for the Red Cross in Chicago and later she worked on behalf of the Hadley Institute for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Winnetka. She was the proud matriarch of her family and took great joy in sharing tales of family lore and her adventures as a daring roller skater and loving companion to her many dogs. She was a wonderful artist and shared her passion by giving multiple watercolor paintings to her family, particularly of her surroundings spent during winters in Rockport, Texas. Jordan was a passionate traveler, talented violinist with the Flute and Fiddle Club, determined golfer, avid swimmer and reveled in her weekends in Bridgman, Michigan. She also was an active member of the Town and Country Arts Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Colonial Dames. A private family service will be scheduled shortly. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice in her name. Gerald Slocum Wroe Gerald Slocum Wroe, a New Trier graduate, of New Bern, N.C., born Dec. 10, 1934 to Gerald and Leola Wroe in St. Louis, died Jan. 7. He graduated from New Trier High School and attended Lawrence University and the University of California at Berkeley. He then joined the United States Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1961. Wroe was a media executive with broad experience in marketing and magazine publishing. He was the Director of Corporate Marketing, for Meredith Corporation. After retiring he was a founding board member of Featherstone Center for the Arts, Martha’s Vineyard, a non-profit arts organization. When he and his wife moved to Wilton, N.H. in 2002, he was the Director of Development for Northern Ballet Theatre in Nashua, N.H. He was a board member of Wilton Main Street Association, Wilton, N.H. and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Wilton Public & Gregg Free Library. Wroe is survived by his wife of 27 years, Eileen Callahan Wroe, his children, Peter Wroe and Polly Knowles. His son Michael predeceased him. Step-children, Michael and Brian Callahan, and grandchildren, Tim, Jess and Cameron Knowles. He also leaves 5 step-grandchildren, Ryan, Connor, Logan Callahan and Jack and Julia Callahan.
