Interim Village manager
resigns
In her regular report to the
board, Interim Village Manager
Anne Marie Gaura said
that she would be leaving
her post as of Friday, Jan. 18,
after four months on the job.
“You’ve been fantastic to
work with, and I appreciate
the opportunity I’ve had
here,” she said.
Yukich confirmed that
Gaura is leaving to take a
full-time position as a Village
Manager in another
community. Gaura was hired
to the position on an interim
basis because the board
wanted to leave the possibility
of hiring a new manager
open, should a new mayor
be elected in April.
Since Yukich is running
unopposed, this issue is
no longer a concern, and
Gaura’s successor will likely
be hired on a permanent basis.
Yukich said that the board
has already begun the search
for a new Village manager
both internally and externally,
and that the role will
be filled “as soon as we find
someone.”
Business updates
Yukich announced during
his board report that the new
Dialysis Care Center corporate
headquarters building
has completed its renovation
of the former First Midwest
Bank building on Bell Road
and is now operational with
50 employees. The office
will eventually house 90 employees
and is expected to
be a boost to the business of
local stores and restaurants.
Elsewhere, the Dollar Tree
store was scheduled to have
a Saturday, Jan. 19 grand
opening, becoming the first
business to open in the new
Homer Glen Bell Plaza development
at the southwest
corner of 143rd Street and
Bell Road.
Outlot acquisition denied
The board voted unanimously
to reject a request by
the residents of the Evlyn’s
Gate North subdivision for
the Village to take control
of a private alley built on
an outlot of the subdivision.
Residents hoped the Village
would take responsibility for
the maintenance and plowing
of the small street, but
the board and the Plan Commission
both deemed it too
narrow, an issue they saw as
creating a potential liability.
