AVAL is a social enterprise under Auroville Village Action Group (AVAG) dedicated to the cause of women empowerment in the rural villages of Villupuram district in Tamil Nadu. Here, the women are trained in tailoring and crochet design, and then their products are introduced to appropriate markets, hence helping the women earn a livelihood and decent standard of living. We are a social enterprise run by women, which has come<br />
to life with the support of Auroville Village Action Group<br />
(AVAG).<br />
Our women, from different villages and social backgrounds,<br />
have been trained in advanced tailoring and crochet design.<br />
Working with contemporary designers from all over the<br />
world, <strong>AVAL</strong> follows the principles of ethical fashion. Each<br />
product is crafted with care and the profits earned thus support<br />
development initiatives for women in the Auroville bioregion<br />
and provide a meaningful and sustainable livelihood.<br />
The fabric we use is consciously chosen to reflect the rich<br />
cultural tradition of India, particularly South India.
