Athlete of the Month
Goldman makes it two in a row for New Trier

New Trier’s Rebecca
Goldman is one of the best
shooters in the area and has
led the Trevians to a lofty
season thus far. Her local
residents helped her shoot
to the top of the 22nd Century
Media December Athlete
of the Month voting,
leading the senior to the
title with 287 votes.
Goldman’s win makes
it two consecutive titles
for the Trevians, who saw
cross-country runner Ellie
Finnigan win last month.
Goldman finished the
Athlete of the Month voting
with 287 votes. Connor
Barrett of Loyola’s boys
basketball team finished
second with 207 votes and
Jared Kuper of Glenbrook
North’s bowling squad finished
third with 143 tallies.

Athlete of the Month starts

We here at The Tower
have always worked hard
to provide our readers with
unique stories and experiences
they can’t get anywhere
else.
Whether it’s exclusive
coverage of the most important
Glenbrook North
games, writing about
Northbrook stories, providing
more content online,
including photo galleries
and videos, or any of
the other ways The Tower
provides readers with content
no other newspaper
does, we’re always looking
for ways to improve
and become better at what
we do.
This is why I’ll be adding
something new to the
sports section that will improve
not only the sports
section, but help readers
feel like they’re part of the
conversation as well.
It’s always been a goal
of mine to make sure The
Tower readers feel as if
this is their newspaper that
covers what they want to
know.
Reader participation has
always been a vital part of
this paper, which is why I
encourage it.
Alright, I’ve dragged
this out as long as I could.
What’s so special that I
needed to write column
about?
Well, I’m happy to introduce
what will be called
“Michal’s Mailbag.” If you
can’t tell by the name, this
will be a mailbag where
Glenbrook North sports
fans can ask me whatever
questions they have about
Spartans athletics.
Whatever you guys want
to know, I’ll try to answer
the questions. This doesn’t
even have to be limited to
current Spartans athletics,
but let’s keep it to current
sports for now (it’s fair
game to ask me who’s the
best GBN athlete of all
time or compare players,
that’s where the fun begins).
So how will readers get

mailbag into a every other
week deal, or maybe a
weekly column.
We’ll see how it goes,
but I’m excited for the
possibilities that await us
in this new way of giving
Northbrook readers content
they want.
