10 | February 14, 2019 | The glenview lantern news glenviewlantern.com Police Reports Three cars stolen, four burglarized in four days Car burglars in Glenview a productive few days to start February, stealing three vehicles and number of items from inside four others, according to incident reports from the Glenview Police Department. A resident called the department on Feb. 1 to report their Mercedes-Benz AMG was stolen from the North Glen Metra Train Station on Lehigh Avenue between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. New models in the Mercedes-Benz AMG line range in value from about $45,000 to more than $100,000. The Mercedes-Benz was unlocked and the keys were in the center console. It was located two days later on East 73rd Street in Chicago. Two Glenview residents reported their cars stolen on Feb. 3, according to the reports. A resident in the 1300 block of Pendleton Lane reported someone stole their Honda Odyssey from their driveway between 10:30 p.m. Feb. 2 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 3. A second vehicle in the driveway was found with an open door. The total reported loss is $25,000. A second resident reported Feb. 3 that his Ford Explorer was stolen from the driveway between 1 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. that day. The vehicle was unlocked and the keys were inside. A wallet with $250, credit cards and a ThinkPad laptop were inside the vehicle when it was stolen, according to the reports. Four cars were also burglarized at the start of February, but thieves only stole a phone charger, garage door opener and coins in those cases. In other police news: Feb. 10 • Dalton Eggerson, 29, no known address, was arrested at 12:05 a.m. by Park Ridge Police on a retail theft warrant originally issued by Glenview Police for a reported theft that occurred Oct. 12, 2018, at Target, 2241 Willow Road. • Mikhail Geyer, 64, of the 4700 block of Larch Avenue, was arrested at 6:08 p.m. in the 1700 block of Dempster Road in Park Ridge after police investigated a hit-and-run crash that occurred at 3:18 Feb. 10 in the 3500 block of Milwaukee Avenue. Geyer was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and leaving the scene of a vehicledamage accident. Feb. 8 • Caitlin E. O’Neal, 30, of the 1900 block of Ammer Ridge Court, was arrested at 1:15 p.m. for retail theft after police investigated a reported theft that occurred Jan. 22 at a business in the 2200 lock of Willow Road. Feb. 7 • Kiritkumar Shah, 61, of the 3400 block of Winchester Lane, was arrested at 12:15 p.m. at a business in the 2800 block of Patriot Boulevard and charged with theft. Feb. 6 • Kim Uyen Nhu Nguyen, 47, of the 2600 block of Fontana Drive, was arrested at 10:11 a.m. in the 2300 block of Old Willow Road and charged with speeding 26 mph over the limit. Feb. 4 • Daniel Finnegan, 53, of the 900 block of Greenwood Road, was arrested at 12 p.m. at the Glenview Police Department and charged with retail theft. The charge is related to an incident that occurred on Nov. 14 at a business in the 3300 block of Glenview Road. • Alberto Kamber, 30, of Skokie, was arrested at 2:50 a.m. after a traffic stop in the 1500 block of Milwaukee Avenue and charged with driving under the influence. • A resident in the 1000 block of Lindenleaf Drive reported someone entered their unlocked Jeep Grand Cherokee parked in the driveway between 2:30 p.m. Feb. 3 and 6:30 a.m. Feb. 4. A garage door opener and coins were taken. The reported loss is $10. • A resident in the 2700 block of Park Lane reported someone entered their unlocked BMW X3 parked in the driveway and stole a phone charger. The reported loss is $10. Feb. 3 • A resident in the 1400 block of Kaywood Lane reported someone entered their unlocked Hyundai Genesis parked in the driveway between 6 p.m. Feb. 2 and 10 a.m. Feb. 3. The vehicle was ransacked, but nothing was stolen. • At 12:36 p.m., the manager of a business in the 1600 block of Waukegan Road reported a man stole an iPhone XS Max from the store. The reported loss is $1,100. Feb. 2 • A caller reported someone scratched the side of their GMC Acadia they were shopping at a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road. Feb. 1 • At 8:15 a.m., an employee at a business in the 2400 block of Glenview Road reported a man stole two cans of tobacco valued at about $10. • At 6:50 p.m., officers responded to the 3800 block of Rugen Road for a reported traffic altercation. During the incident, a man allegedly cut off a woman driving a second car. The two exchanged words and gestures before both exited their vehicles. The woman accused the man of pushing her, and the man accused the woman of putting her finger in his face. No further police action was taken. • An employee at a business in the 2700 block of Pfingsten Road reported two men stole several bottles of alcohol off the shelves. The reported loss is unknown. Jan. 31 • An employee at a business in the 2200 block of Willow Road reported two men entered the store around 4:55 p.m. Jan. 28 and were seen were pulling price tags off merchandise. When confronted, the two men threatened to assault the employee. • At 8:55 p.m., an employee at a restaurant in the 3400 block of Milwaukee Avenue reported three men who had caused issues previously entered the restaurant. When they were asked to leave, one of the men grabbed the employee’s arm. Officers located the men and issued trespass warnings. Jan. 30 • An employee at a business in the 3700 block of Willow Road reported that a man attempted to fill a prescription on Jan. 20 with a fraudulent prescription for Phenergan with codeine syrup. Employees did not fill the prescription and no one tried to pick it up. • At 6:54 p.m., officers responded to the 3300 block of Milwaukee Avenue after a caller reported an intoxicated man had been in a nearby business bothering customers. At one point, the man sat on a bench and began vomiting. He was transported by paramedics to the Glenbrook Hospital. Jan. 29 • A resident reported they received a call on Jan. 24 from a woman who said she was with the U.S. Social Security Office in Texas. The resident was conned into providing the caller with their Social Security number. • A resident came to the Glenview Police Department to report they were receiving harassing Please see police, 16 village From Page 6 opt into one or both of the ordinances, or write their own laws on minimum wage and sick leave specifically tailored to Glenview. Residents of Wilmette and Northbrook, which opted out of the ordinances in 2017 along with 105 other home-rule municipalities, also voted overwhelmingly in support of the ordinances during the 2018 general election. Since then, both village boards have readdressed the issue. Wilmette trustees repealed their local opt-out ordinances on Nov. 28. The new ordinance established an effective date of March 1, 2019, for opting into the sick leave ordinance in order to provide local businesses sufficient time to prepare to track sick leave accruals. Northbrook trustees agreed Nov. 15 to consider the repeal of their local opt-out ordinance regarding minimum wage in May 2019 if the State of Illinois has not taken formal action on the issues before that time.
