Heartbreak after Heartbreak In September 2014, my fiancée flew to Australia for work. But the diffculty of long-distance relationship tainted our 11-year romance. After 6 months, we called it quits. Not too long after my devastating break-up, I received a call from my father telling me that my brother has been set up and arrested for selling illegal drugs. Despite his cooperation and confession, he was convicted for three years in prison. My heart was crushed. All we can do was cry for the unjust decision. My brother's appeal to me was, "Please take care of my family." He has two kids: 13 years old and 3 months old then. I also had problems in the offce. For one, I no longer enjoyed working there. It required a week-long service and erratic working hours. All Alone Life became burdensome. Depression kicked in and I struggled on my own. I had no one to talk to since my close friends were the friends of my ex-fiancée. I felt I didn't have any reason to live anymore. I was about to call it quits too, but a voice within nagged me, "What's your purpose for living?" It kept me thinking. Dying to Oneself Blessing Blog Being the eldest in our family, I knew I had to take on my brother’s responsibility. I disregarded my feelings and let my depression take care of itself. I thought I’d live for someone else—for my brother's dreams—his family. I quit my job and looked for a new one that could help me sustain the needs of my brother's family. It was not easy but it became my reason to stay strong and to be alive. It became my purpose for living. Receiving God’s Love Leaving my old job allowed me to go back to The Feast. There, I got to release all the pain and diffculty that I've been through. And in the midst of my every cry, the love of God filled me. WORTH HIS LOVE In June 2015, I got a new job in an offce near a church. So every day, I would drop by to pray, to give thanks to Him and ask for His guidance. Being the good God that He is, He helped me cope with the challenges that life has been throwing at me. The change of environment was a big help for me too. I found new friends. And there I met Danica. New Love Blooms Sweethearts RJ and Danica Danica has a cheerful personality and a warm heart. When we go out with friends at work, she makes sure everybody is happy. She became my listening ear and a shoulder to cry on. I woke up one day missing this sweet girl, even if we've only separated for a couple of hours. To spend more time with her, I would invite her out. She became my reason to smile and mend the pain of my broken heart. At that time, Danica was still in her six-year relationship. But she decided to end her longtime romance to give us a clean start. Her courage inspired me to call up my ex-fiancée for closure. I introduced her to my Feast family and until today, we serve together in different ministries. In January 2016, we became a couple. Danica has been with me in good and in bad times. She stayed with me even in my most undesirable moment. She's not just my girlfriend—she's my Ms. Right. We take our relationship seriously for we have God as our center. Ever Grateful My life is now filled with God’s love and gratitude for Him. Thinking back, I realize that the Lord has always been there for me – through the good and bad. So I always acknowledge Him for His Presence and the things He does in my life. I am worth His love. His overflowing love allowed me to love others. Allow me to share another good news: my brother has been released and who knows he might be with us at The Feast this Sunday. Is God calling you to serve with us? Our Purpose. We all have a purpose in life – a calling that we must fulfill. When God calls us, He provides and equips us with what we need. His purpose is to always bless us. Learn to Surrender. It takes faith to surrender and trust that His blessings are coming. Oftentimes though, when we do not understand these plans, our impatience makes us take matters into our own hands. When this happens, we commit these common mistakes: • Our dream isn’t wrong, just our deadline. We are in a hurry because we know what we want. But God is never in a rush because He knows what we need. Single people, it is better to remain single than to be married to the wrong person. • We want God’s promise, but not His process. Sometimes, we create problems due to our impatience and pride. The Lord wants us to wait so that we may grow and mature more. • Prioritize the blessing over the Blesser. Prioritize Him. The greatest goal is to love God and be happy. We are called to share this happiness with the world whether we’re married or single. Blessed Are They Who Wait. The real miracle is who we become while waiting for our miracle. Do the following while waiting: • Wish. Single people, set criteria for your partner. Stick to your negotiables and non-negotiables. Don’t waste your time on recreational relationships. • Work. Before you look for the right partner, be the right partner. Work on yourself. • Walk. Get out of your circle. Do things you’ve never done before. Go out and explore the world. Have a life outside your comfort zone and enjoy life. • Worship. Our waiting has a higher purpose. It is to deepen our relationship with God. Seek the Blesser. Don’t forget that the greatest blessing we could ever receive is God Himself. Seek first the Blesser and His blessings will follow.
