Dear Parents and Carers
Bridge over Weston Way
PARENTAL WEEKLY UPDATE – 15th March 2019
(available on our website)
I will be seeking your support to build a bridge over Weston Way which connects our school to the sports centre. I
will be asking you to sign a petition (online) which I can present to the County Council (Highways Committee). Our
students show great maturity and responsibility when crossing the road to and from the sports centre, but to make
it even safer, a bridge from the inside of our school site to the inside of the sports centre would ensure all members
of the community can cross safely and without risk. Students from our Geography department are currently surveying
how many students use the crossing at lunchtimes. Please do keep an eye out for this email and if you have
friends and family who live in Baldock they may wish to support us as well.
Congratulations to all our students involved in performances this week. The Spring Concert on Wednesday evening
showcased our very talented musicians and the quality was extremely high. The year 11 Performing Arts and Drama
students presented their work on Thursday evening to a full audience and with great authority.
Many of you will be aware that The Green Knights Team have introduced a
new plastic bottle lids recycling scheme and there is a competition between
the houses to see who can collect the most. Yr8 student, Lili certainly
contributed today by bringing in hundreds of plastic lids and bottle tops .
I hope that all year 10 parents are signed up for the Parents’ Evening next
week (Wednesday 20 th ). Please do bring your child with you, in full school
uniform.
Parents of students in our sixth form are reminded that we have a Student
Finance evening on Monday at 7.00pm.
I hope you will take the time to complete our parental survey, we really do
value your views. Please see further details and the link on the next page.
I am looking forward to the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award evening next Thursday.
As one of the biggest centres for DofE in the South East, Our guest of
honour, Mr James Blake, CEO of the Youth Hostel Association, cannot fail to
be impressed with the sheer number of young people who complete the award here at KTS. I look forward to seeing
you there.
Kind regards,
Parental Survey Spring 2019
Every couple of years we ask parents for their views on their child’s education at Knights Templar.
Parents are central to the development of their child and it is important that the link between home and school is
strong.
This survey focussed on the delivery of academic subjects as well as the wider education of children at Knights Templar.
Parents’ views are important in helping us to understand what is working well, but also to hear about where we
could improve. Students and staff will also be surveyed.
We would appreciate your time in completing this survey and would expect it to take about 15 minutes.
The deadline for completing the survey is Friday 5 th April.
We will use the results of this survey to help us review our current provision for education at Knights Templar and
to develop our school development plan. Your views will help us to set key priorities for the future.
We will share the results of the survey with parents in the summer term.
Please click on this click to access the survey: Parental Survey Spring 2019
Dodgeball tournament
Last Tuesday the senior hockey team hosted a dodgeball tournament for teachers in order to raise money to get
hockey playing shirts. The tournament was a huge success with over 30 teachers participating from all over the
school and fantastic support from students!
There were 6 teams of teachers playing in two pools, with the winner and second place from each pool playing
each other in a final and 3rd Vs 4th play off. Congratulations to Mr Breadmore, Miss Moyes, Miss Ward, Miss
Oetgen and Mr Matthews on winning the whole tournament !
ap-
We raised, in total, £240 which, with money raised by a stall at the Christmas Fete, is enough to finally get our
shirts! A massive thanks to anyone who came to or helped with any of our fundraisers, it is thoroughly
preciated.
We now look to find a local sponsor to try to get a complete kit, so if any readers are interested in doing so please
do contact us.
Many thanks,
