Young Psychiatrist Leadership and Professional Skills Training opportunity
Date: 23-25 July 2019
Venue: Boma Inn, Eldoret, Kenya
Applications are invited from African Early Career Psychiatrists and Trainees to attend a Leadership
and Professional Skills Training Symposium in Eldoret, Kenya. The Symposium will take place from
23rd to 25th July 2019, and all those invited for the training will be eligible to attend the African
College of NeuroPsychopharmacology (AfCNP) Annual Congress from 26th to 27th July 2019.
Topics to be covered during the training include: Professional self-care, Networking, Presentation
Skills, Influencing Policy, Public Communication, Ethical Practice, Entering a Research Career, and
Academic Psychiatry. Invited faculty span the leadership of research, academic, and clinical
psychiatry on the continent.

1. A motivation letter for attending the training
2. A ten-minute slide presentation or a poster on a topic of your choosing
3. A recommendation letter from your current mentor or supervisor
Deadline for applications is May 15 2019, and successful applicants shall be notified by May 31
2019.
Successful applicants shall have their registration fees for the AfCNP Congress waived, and their
accommodation costs will be covered for the three days of the training and two days of the
Congress.
