Young Psychiatrist Leadership and Professional Skills Training opportunity<br />

Date: 23-25 July <strong>2019</strong><br />

Venue: Boma Inn, Eldoret, Kenya<br />

Applications are invited from <strong>African</strong> Early Career Psychiatrists and Trainees to attend a Leadership<br />

and Professional Skills Training Symposium in Eldoret, Kenya. The Symposium will take place from<br />

23rd to 25th July <strong>2019</strong>, and all those invited for the training will be eligible to attend the <strong>African</strong><br />

College of NeuroPsychopharmacology (AfCNP) Annual Congress from 26th to 27th July <strong>2019</strong>.<br />

Topics to be covered during the training include: Professional self-care, Networking, Presentation<br />

Skills, Influencing Policy, Public Communication, Ethical Practice, Entering a Research Career, and<br />

Academic <strong>Psychiatry</strong>. Invited faculty span the leadership of research, academic, and clinical<br />

psychiatry on the continent.<br />

Interested applicants should send their applications to Stella Gichuru on email<br />

stellakenina@gimail.com copied to lukoye.atwoli@mu.ac.ke), and must submit the following:<br />

1. A motivation letter for attending the training<br />

2. A ten-minute slide presentation or a poster on a topic of your choosing<br />

3. A recommendation letter from your current mentor or supervisor<br />

Deadline for applications is May 15 <strong>2019</strong>, and successful applicants shall be notified by May 31<br />

<strong>2019</strong>.<br />

Successful applicants shall have their registration fees for the AfCNP Congress waived, and their<br />

accommodation costs will be covered for the three days of the training and two days of the<br />

Congress.<br />
