Coding and Video Game Design<br />

Coding has been called the “literacy of the<br />
21st century.” Beginning coders will learn the<br />
fundamentals of coding by utilizing WeDo and<br />
EV3 hardware and Scratch. <strong>Camp</strong>ers will also<br />
create their very own video games. Each lesson<br />
progressively teaches more advanced capabilities<br />
within the video game design software.<br />

Game Over Jr. Engineers<br />

Jump into the world of classic arcade and video<br />
games! Eat flashing dots, collect coins and rings,<br />
avoid getting killed by enemies… there are so<br />
many obstacles to overcome and levels to beat!<br />
Let’s take it back to when it all started—the 1980s!<br />
<strong>Camp</strong>ers will build Super Mario Brothers, PacMan,<br />
Alien Invaders and more! <strong>Camp</strong>ers will also build<br />
characters from today’s popular games including<br />
Fortnite, Minecraft, Angry Birds, Clash of Clans,<br />
Pokemon and more! Enrollment: Min. of 8, max. of<br />
24 campers.<br />

LEGO Stop Motion Animation<br />
Movie Making<br />
• Week 7: August 12–16<br />

Lights, camera, LEGO action! Use LEGO Bricks to<br />
tell your story complete with music, special effects<br />
and all your favorite LEGO mini figure characters!<br />
In this unique and creative camp students will plan,<br />
script, stage, shoot and produce their own minimovie<br />
using stop motion animation. Working as a<br />
team students will use LEGO components to build<br />
the set and props, then shoot their movie using a<br />
camera. They will use movie-making software to<br />
add special effects, titles, credits and more. Don’t<br />
miss your chance to be a movie producer!<br />

Ceramics with Mark Raush<br />
• Week 2: July 8–12<br />
• Week 6: August 5–9<br />
• Children entering grades 1–6<br />

Use clay and glaze to create your own<br />
masterpieces! Learn the art of ceramics by<br />
creating pots, vases, bowls and more. Fire your<br />
work in the kiln. Fired pieces will not be ready to<br />
take home by the end of the week but will look<br />
beautiful for a long time to come. Requirements:<br />
<strong>Camp</strong>ers should wear clothing that can get messy.<br />

Alea Smith is back by popular demand to coach<br />
our Cheerleading <strong>Camp</strong>s! Spend the week learning<br />
cheers, some basic stunts and a dance routine.<br />
<strong>Camp</strong>ers will lead <strong>Camp</strong> Romano in a pep rally! All<br />
abilities and levels welcome. Enrollment: Min. of 8,<br />
max. of 24 campers.<br />
Circus with the<br />
National Circus Project<br />
• Week 3: July 15–19<br />
• Children entering grades 1–6<br />
• Price Level: P<br />
A circus show by professional artists/instructors,<br />
with hands-on workshops on feather balancing,<br />
juggling, plate spinning, stilt walking and much<br />
more. <strong>Camp</strong>ers will perform in a showcase for their<br />
parents and the entire <strong>Camp</strong> Romano family on<br />
Friday afternoon. Enrollment: Min. of 8, max. of<br />
25 campers.<br />
