A LeadNOW Magazine

LeadNOW is propelled by the
founding team's vision to enhance
the ability of women to pursue and
accomplish their life choices, help
them focus on their overall
well-being and provide them with
an environment where they can feel
safe, trusted and are able to
connect with a non-judgmental and
accepng community, while
providing soluons and
perspecves on their various needs.

The She SMART Magazine by LeadNOW is an
amalgamaon of powerful stories of women who have
broken stereotypes, who share real-life experiences
from their own lives to help other women like them. It
also has relevant content on careers, well-being and
fitness, relaonships at home and workplace,
parenng, finance, among a gamut of other topics to
enable women priorize their needs and live a life of
purpose and meaning. We believe that every woman
who reads this magazine is not a customer, consumer
but just one of our own, a community of women.

She SMART
Based on the Smart Balance Pyramid
Living full is a choice that women need to make every day. From
our research, we have idenfied 12 building blocks for a
woman. The SMART BALANCE PLEDGE, built around the
SMART BALANCE PYRAMID and our SHE SMART model,
idenfies 5 levels in a woman's life.
Level 1 is about survival, and a woman’s ability to survive will
depend on her physical and mental wellbeing. Level 2 is about
taking care of the basic needs of any woman. Physical, financial
and emoonal safety. Level 3 is about giving and enabling her
to give and contribute seamlessly and comfortably.
Level 4 is about growth and building self-esteem Level 5 is really
about a woman living to her full potenal, unafraid of
consequences of success and failure.
Keeping this in mind, we bring content that embodies the
principles of our Smart Balance Pyramid. These are stories
about women who are unapologec about their self-care, lead
their own selves with pride and are people of their own right,
without the validaons of relaonships and affirmaons from
elsewhere.

www.leadnow.in
Basis our survey VOICENOW, where women idenfied their core needs,
aspiraons needs, we designed the SMART PYRAMID. It captures the
hierarchy of needs that a woman has but struggles to fulfil.
The PYRAMID stacks her needs and strives to make her focus on the idea of
self care and promote her wellbeing.
We believe a woman can rise to her highest potenal and lead and shape
the world in which she operates, both at home and workplaces, only when
she is able to take care of her own needs and power her own wellbeing.
She SMART magazine will focus on providing unique, authenc, research
based and expert authored content in each of the 12 dimensions of the
pyramid.

LET THESE BOOKS INSPIRE YOU
These 5 books can change the way you look at life, says Ruth Dsouza Prabhu
When I first decided to get back to
feature journalism as an independent
journalist, I looked around for inspiration
and guidance and found it in a wonderful
book called Everything You Wanted to
Know about Freelance Journalism by
Kavitha Rao and Charukesi Ramadurai. It
not only gave me guidance on finding
editors of publications, but a roadmap to
ideation, pitching and more. Being able
to come back with the bang that I have is
all thanks to this one book.
Take a look at how books have impacted
the lives of these women:
“The 5AM Club by Robin Sharma. I love
that book because it inspires you to have
a routine and follow it. It motivates you to
have a habit and be more productive in
your life. For me professionally
motivation comes from the people
around me and the inspiration they
provide every day. I love meeting
people, knowing about them and
ARE YOU EMOTIONALLY
BURNT OUT?
Most people do not recognize that they
may be heading towards a burnout.
Psychologist Inchara Shivaraam lists the
warning signs
Emotional exhaustion is a state of feeling
emotionally worn-out and drained as a
result of accumulated stress from your
personal or work life. People
experiencing emotional exhaustion often
feel like they have no power or control
over what happens in life.
They may feel ‘stuck’ or ‘trapped’ in a
situation. Lack of energy, poor sleep, and
decreased motivation can make it
difficult to overcome emotional
exhaustion. Over time, this chronic,
stressed-out state can cause long term
damage to your health.
While a desire to succeed is
commendable, often enough, we forget
to take the time to pull out of it, distress
and recharge. This eventually creates
chronic stress and severely taxes our
emotional and mental resources,
resulting in a burnout.
Most people stubbornly focused on their
goals do not recognize the signs that
they are heading towards a burnout —
extended hours at the office, sleep
deprivation and bad food habits. This is
not only typical in the professional arena,
but for the
BALANCING ACT
Here are tips to maintain your
too. With her mother-in-law handling
most of the housework, she is able to
work well. “I used to have a job until
three years ago, when I quit to
completely focus on my writing. So, the
challenge has been to understand my
limits, how much work I can accomplish in
a day and how to stick to it. For me,
balancing work-life means knowing when
to stop working. Often, people who work
from home don't have fixed delineations.
I used to work in spurts throughout the
day and sometimes, used to end up
working late until the night. I overcame
this by being extremely disciplined in all
aspects. I am a hard task master for
myself. Is easier now that my children
have grown up”.
“I also think it's important that women
make time for themselves and not just
focus on family and work. Take care of
yourself, indulge every now and
We are often faced with a to-do list that
magically never seems to get completely
ticked off. Most women tend to come up
with solutions that work to their
advantage to help balance it all out.
Some of us may struggle a bit to find the
sweet spot and so learning from others’
experiences can help put things in
perspective. Take a look at these women
who share tips on work life balance.
What women say about
LeadNOW Programs

In a nutshell the program enabled me to look at my personal
and professional goals with objectivity. It created a sense of
community between myself and fellow participants.
My issue with being a woman in the corporate sector has always
been about the lack of role models and the inability to identify
with the current definition of leadership and progress. With this
program I felt the challenges we face are genuine and we are
not alone.
• Enhanced self confidence
• Helped change /enhance perspecve
about work and life

WLL (Women’s leadership labs 2017) was an eye opening
experience for me. It taught me to believe in myself and to
continually develop myself.
I was very impressed by the faculty and I got to interact with
all participants from backgrounds and industries.
Areas of impact
• Improved self confidence
• I started networking within and outside
of my organizaon
• People Management skills improved much
beer than before

I participated in the back to work program and the
reorientation was very helpful. We often forget to have realistic
expectations from ourselves and others, and tend to get
disappointed and hurt.
While each personal situation maybe unique, it shares common
characteristics with countless others. To know that and to have
the opportunity to be able to share with like –placed
individuals provides a support group of sorts. I have fond
memories of the program.
