Founder's Message
Dear Readers
The road to freedom is a bumpy ride. But it is good see
that so many more people are getting into the spirit of the
community and are proactively making the effort to build
bridges in the local community. I think that whenever we
are faced with big challenges in our lives, we just need to
remember that as a community working together, we can
support each other to make the journey more enjoyable
and worthwhile. So this issue is about the birth of
something fantastic in the community of Valencia!
NEW DRIVE FOR
COMMUNITY SPIRIT
MEETINGS
This month Richard Voller, the leader of
Community Spirit Valencia, decided to
bring more focus and drive to the
meetings to better manage the workload
so that we can move into action and be
more effective and efficient in the
process. Here is an overview of the new
direction for the voluntary group.
BIRTH & FERTILITY
TREATMENT
Kelli Davis, owner of Vibrant Life in
Valencia, talks about women's wellness,
which has become her most favorite
group of people to work with. In this
article Kelli talks about the many factors
that contribute to fertility challenges,
and there are many solutions.
SCHOOL MAKES KIDS LESS
INTELLIGENT
Eddy Zhong is a man who is talking
from experience about how our
education system is not designed to
cater for different forms of
intelligence. He explains how the lack
of support for children's creative
intelligence, only opens up a limited
number of choices for kids to choose
from. So in this article he shares his
life story to inspire us on the other
options.

Community Spirit Volunteer meeting held on 28th
March 2019, Wecasa, L'eliana, Valencia
NEW DRIVE & FOCUS FOR
COMMUNITY SPIRIT MEETINGS
Dear All,
This month I thought that it was time to change the way that the Community
Spirit meetings are delivered and run. So I started off the March meeting, by
explaining why I set up this group. About two years ago I saw a message on a
facebook thread called the Hopi Prophecy. This was it...
When the earth is Ravaged and the Animals are dying, a new Tribe of People will come
unto the Earth from many different colours, creeds and classes, and who by there actions
and deeds, shall make the Earth green again. They shall be known as the Warriors of the
Rainbow.
Just after I mentioned this, a lovely woman called Anna, pipped up and said she
had been invited to join us, but didn't know why she was here. But after hearing
me mention the Hopi Prophecy she totally understood why because she is a
Rainbow Warrior. In fact everyone who comes along to these meetings and is
running a project is a Rainbow Warrior and I wish to honour you all for your
courage and determination to get into action.
The next step was to set the intention for the meeting, so that we can keep the
energy positive and inspiring for everyone present. So I started by setting my
intention for the meeting as 'Love & Connection' and then we went around the
whole table for everyone to speak and share their intention with the group.
Thankfully Emma Coyne agreed to take the minutes, but during baby changes, I
think some of the other ladies helped out as well.
NEW DRIVE & FOCUS FOR
COMMUNITY SPIRIT MEETINGS
I also wanted to cover some behavioural guidelines for the meetings and the
facebook group, which help to empower us and keep our spirits high and
supportive of each other. These are based on the FOUR AGREEMENTS by Don
Miguel.
BE MINDFUL OF WHAT YOU ARE SAYING
1. If you say you are going to do something, then do it.
2. Always communicate clearly and directly, sprinkle some love in with it, to
help get the message across.
3. Don’t gossip about others, instead uplift people where you can, and don't
mention people by name. If you have an issue with someone, face them and get
it sorted out.
DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY
1. What people say and do is a projection of their own reality, their own dream,
so don’t feel attacked when people share it with you.
2. When you are immune to the opinions and actions of others, you won’t be the
victim of needless suffering.
DON’T MAKE ASSUMPTIONS
1. Find the courage to ask questions and to express what you really want.
2. Communicate with others as clearly as you can to avoid misunderstanding,
sadness and drama.
3. With just this one agreement, you can completely transform your life.
ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST
1. Your best is going to change from moment to moment, it will be different
when you healthy as opposed to sick.
2. So under any circumstance, just do your best and you will avoid selfjudgement,
self-abuse and regret.
NEW DRIVE & FOCUS FOR
COMMUNITY SPIRIT MEETINGS
Each month we will also have a theme, to give more focus as to what we can be
working on in the way of community projects, events and activities. We agreed
at the meeting that we should be holding at least one fundraiser event per
month, which can also tap into events which are being organised in the local
community, for example Wecasa or Arzobispo Animals In Need.
Here are the themes for each month, which are also the themes of this monthly
e-zine:
January - ‘Turning over A New Leaf’
February - ‘Love of Life’
March - ‘Celebration of Women and Spring Equinox’
April - ‘Birth & Fertility’
May - ‘Flowers & Horticulture’
June - ‘Celebration of Men and Summer Solstice’
July - ‘Value of Friendship’
August - ‘Celebration of Children’
Sept - ‘Celebration of Inner of Peace and Autumn Equinox’
October - Remembering the Dead
November - Valuing the Elderly
December - Celebrating ‘Family’ and Winter Solstice
We then continued with a very fun, enjoyable and inspiring meeting. I think it
was the best one we've ever had! To read the minutes, click on f button below
and it will take you to the FILES section on the facebook group page.
Thanks again to everyone who came along and supported! The next meeting will
Long may it continue.
Written by Kate
This months article looks at women’s mental health during pregnancy, birth and the period after birth. Although
the article focus’s on women it is important to acknowledge, that men can and do experience the same symptoms
and struggles as their partners. Depression and anxiety are common mental health issues in both men and
women.
Having a baby is one of the biggest life events you can have and it’s totally natural to experience a range of
emotions during and after your pregnancy. There is no “perfect way” to have a baby or be a parent. Your baby
and your parenting skills are unique. So its not unusual for you and baby to take time to work out what’s best for
your family. It’s only a concern when your emotions start to have a big impact on how you live your life,
attachment with your baby, and your relationship with your partner. This may be a sign that you are experiencing
a mental health difficulty.
It may surprise you to know, that around one in five women will experience a mental health difficulty during
pregnancy or in the year after giving birth. This might be a new mental health problem or another episode of a
mental health difficulty you’ve experienced before. These are known as perinatal mental health problems (Mind )

Worldwide 13% of women who have just
given birth, experience a mental illness,
primarily depression. However, in
developing countries, this is even higher
with 15.6% experiencing during
pregnancy and 19.8% after childbirth. In
the most severe cases, mothers may be
so ill that they may even commit suicide.
This has a huge impact on the family,
attachment with the baby and general
day to day functioning. As a result, the
child’s growth and development may be
negatively affected as well. The good
news though is, Maternal mental illnesses
are treatable (WHO).
How might I feel?
Hurray, you’re pregnant. You may
feel excitement and joy, or worry and anxiety. It’s also
perfectly normal to feel that you’re not ready to have the
baby or you feel you won’t be the best parents.
I bet you have watched movies and TV shows where
mum and dad fall instantly in love with the baby. This
doesn’t always happen as you may have had a difficult
tiring birth a traumatic pregnancy or relationship issues.
From my own experience of giving birth to my first child,
all I wanted to do was sleep. Getting to know your baby
and developing a bond can take a little time.
It’s a huge change and you may feel sad about the old
life you have to give up. Nights out with your friends,
time with your partner and your independence. Yes, life
will never be the same again, but you will have new and
different experiences. There will be a whole new network
of friends, different nights out and loads of great days
out as a family.
There are also pressures from social media. You may feel
you have to act in a certain way or look a certain way
during and after your pregnancy. Its hard not to see lots
of pictures of happy families and maybe make
assumptions that everyone is parenting better than you,
that it is easy. The reality is everyone has a mix of happy
and challenging times. Don’t be drawn into the social
media world – try to have lower expectations and not to
be too critical of yourself. It’s perfectly normal to feel
exhausted, stressed overwhelmed and frustrated at
times.
Photo by Kelly Sikkema on Unsplash
Parenting is the most difficult, but also most
rewarding job in the world.

What kind of perinatal mental
health problems are there?
The signs of perinatal anxiety and depression include:
- persistent, generalised worry, often focused on fears for the health or well-being of
the baby
- the development of obsessive or compulsive behaviours
- abrupt mood swings, or feeling constantly sad, low, or crying for no obvious reason
- having little or no interest in all the normal things that bring joy
- withdrawing from friends and family
- finding it difficult to focus, concentrate or remember
- having thoughts of death or suicide
- increased sensitivity to noise or touch
-changes in appetite: under or overeating
- sleep problems unrelated to the baby’s needs
- loss of confidence and lowered self-esteem
- fear of being alone with the baby
- intrusive thoughts of harm to yourself or the baby
- increased alcohol or drug use
- Obsessive compulsive traits

Dad’s can often find pregnancy and new parenting really difficult too.
Photo by Kelly Sikkema on Unsplash
”Have I caused this?”
You definitely have not caused this. Whilst there is no
one single cause there are a number of risk factors.
- Hormonal changes
- Traumatic pregnancy and birth
- Financial / and or relationship issues
- Social isolation.
Perinatal mental health issues are very treatable.
Medication can help so see your GP. Talking
Therapies and particularly Cognitive behavioural therapy
(CBT ) has proven highly successful. Social isolation is a
big thing. Getting out and going to parent groups,
playgroups and supports groups is an important part of
having a baby.
What are Talking Therapies
and how can they help?
Talking therapies are interventions which
involve talking to a trained professional
about your thoughts, feelings and
behaviours. The therapist aims to:
- give you a safe time and place to talk to
someone who won’t judge you
- help you make sense of things and
understand yourself better
- help you resolve complicated feelings, or
find ways to live with them
- help you recognise unhelpful patterns in
the way you think or act, and find ways to
change them (if you want to).

The Myths
Myth – It’s only women that experience perinatal
mental health issues.
Reality – Both men and women can experience
perinatal symptoms and this can be different in
intensity and experience.
Myth – feeling depressed or anxious is just part of
pregnancy and parenthood.
Reality – The first few weeks after becoming a
parent can be stressful. You must seek help if you
notice that these are lasting longer than a couple of
weeks and are having an impact on your daily life.
Myth – it can’t be a perinatal illness as I haven’t had
the baby yet.
Reality – Both expectant mums and dads can
experience a range of perinatal symptoms.
Myth – admitting you need help and seeking support
is a sign of weakness.
Reality – seeking help is essential. No one is judging
you and you are doing what is best for your family.
elimination leads to re-absorption of
The reason for this is that fertility is so
that should already be closed and totally
inherently natural, so "easy" for the body - in
interrupting the delicate hormone balance. A
simple way to help your digestion is to firstly
ONLY thing your body wants to do. Your body
avoid things that damage it, namely gluten,
has basically two objectives: #1 Survive and #2
dairy and alcohol. Then, include high fiber
Reproduce. So, why would we need to "boost"
foods with lots of micro-nutrients every day
something that your body is absolutely
that will help you "go" regularly. My favorite
designed to do?
easy solution is having sauteed vegetables
with garbanzos or lentils for dinner, or blend
it up for a comforting soup. Keep in mind that
in more complicated digestive imbalances,
have a hierarchical priority. If other things in
the body (or the mind) send a signal that #1 is
targeted nutrition designed to heal longinflamed
tissue may be needed.
in real or perceived danger, #2, for good
reason, shuts down.

Additionally, it's now understood that artificial
lighting, especially blue light from backlit
devices, severely interrupts these natural
thyroid. I will say that correcting low or even
However, if you look deeper, find what's not
health, pregnancy still doesn't happen. And to
will. There's no way to tell, and there's no way
The bottom line is that nothing in the body,
Another important factor is sleep. The body's
rhythms are controlled by hormones, which
nor in the universe, exists in isolation. Treating
fertility by "boosting" it is like trying to make
Speaking of metabolism, the thyroid is
basically the "master gland" for the
be honest, for some people, it simply never
functioning can have a big impact on
to promise anything. However, there's a lot to
be said for the role of the mind and emotions
everything else. Thyroid imbalances are one of
the biggest contributing factors I see in
in letting things flow freely.
fertility issues, and when corrected, fertility
often comes quite easily. Thyroid issues often
The unconscious mind simply
cannot not express itself, and its objective is
on a more customized level, but just about
always to benefit us. If we have some
unconscious beliefs that pregnancy or having
HOW SCHOOL MAKE KIDS
LESS INTELLIGENT
Written by By Eddy Zhong
want to share with you a big secret today. And it is not one that a lot of you are going to
I
to hear. But at the same time it is so important that I have to tell it to you. The secret is
want
this:
if I told you that every single day kids go to school they become less intelligent? Now,
What
could that be possible? When kids go to school they learn things, right? And they
how
more knowledge. So if anything, they should be getting smarter. How could they
accumulate
be getting less intelligent? What am I talking about? Well, I do hope to illustrate
possibly
that to you today.
I turned 14, I was a kid that did not know what he wanted in life. So usually, when you
Before
up to 5 or 6 year old and you ask him, “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, he
go
say, “An astronaut” or “A businessman”. I wanted to be a professional Call of Duty
will
And since I had no idea about what I wanted to be when I grew up, I just listened to
player.
parents almost 100% of the time. I trusted that they knew what was best for me. My
my
wanted out of me what any typical parent would want put of his child: go to school,
parents
up your grades, get out and exercise, once every few years. And I was trying to do
keep
they asked of me, except the problem was I wasn’t even that good at school. I
everything
terrible at science, could not write a 5 – paragraph essay of my life had depended on it.
was
to this day I still think I am the only Asian kid in the world who does not understand
And
I really do. But when I turned 14 that all changed. I was not longer this hot air balloon
math.
floating around in space, I was now like a supersonic jet flying toward my destination at
and
000 miles an hour or however fast those things go. This change all started when I
50
an envelope with the email. It was an invitation – not to a birthday party, I did not
received
get any of those – not to a playground, but to a business plan competition down in Boston.

I was curious, I was just so curious that I
And
to go. The program director explained to
had
we quickly realized it`s not that easy. So,
But
drop unless you`re really sure you have
don`t
that over five months, we would form a
us
develop a business idea, and present this
team,
good idea. But… We`ve realized that the
a
art to building a great company is to
first
to a panel of judges, who would be
idea
us how good our suits are, and how
judging
a great team. And as students, we
assemble
go to bars, to networking events for
couldn`t
our business ideas were. And a long story
good
over those five months I formed a team,
short,
so we went to our school and set up
adults,
little presentation in our auditorium, in
this
an idea, and we actually ended up
developed
that competition and taking home a
winning
we would present our idea and
which
kids would join our team. We sent
hopefully
And that one event sparked my interest
cheque.
going to more and more of these
for
an invitation to our entire school. And
put
first thing we noticed is that almost no
the
Over the next two years of my
competitions.
I actually went to dozens and dozens of
life,
showed up. There was almost no
one
And those who show up spread the
interest.
competitions, and I was winning almost
these
of them. And I realized that I liked going to
all
around the school and through that
rumor
we were actually marked, we were
week,
so much not just I liked winning them but
them
because I had an unrealized passion. That
also
fun of for our ideas and for being
made
Mark Zuckerberg. What`s funny is,
wannabe
a passion for creating things. Because the
was
thing that my team would do differently
one
next week after, we took the exact same
the
and did it at our elementary
presentation,
our other competitors, every single time,
from
well, everyone would go up and present
was
so to kids who were 5 or 6 years
school
And the response was phenomenal.
younger.
idea and their Power Point, we would go
their
a home depo, buy supplies, and actually
to
kids were throwing their lunch money
These
us asking if they could buy a prototype.
at
the idea we were talking about. And the
build
were just so blown away by a fact that
judges
were asking for our pre-money
They
which I know you guys know from
valuation,
bunch of teenagers could go and create
a
can make prototypes, and have minimum
things,
Shark Tank, but it was amazing
watching
these kids even knew terms like that
that
viable products.
when they were too young to even
existed
pronounce some of these words.
probably
won almost every single competition just
We
the judges loved that we had gone
because
just inspired me so much. And I think
That
is what our education system has done.
this
executed it. At one of these competitions I
and
a short-tempered, middle-aged Polish guy
met
just these 5 to 6 years in the education
Over
these creative children have turned
system,
Frank. He came up to us, took a look at
named
prototype and said “I can help you guys
our
these teenagers that are unwilling to
into
outside of the box.
think
this into a real company.” Think about that.
turn
that cool? We are 16 years old, we are
Isn’t
let`s go back to that secret I was talking
So
How is it possible that school is
about.
out into the world and creating a real
going
technology startup. At first we were
hardware
kids less intelligent? The fact is,
making
is so much more than just one type of
there
like “Time to be Steve Jobs, let`s go build
all
dropping out of school now.”
Apple,
intelligence. While school can make you

academically intelligent, it can teach you physics, algebra, calculus, it
more
diminishing the children`s creative intelligence.
is
is teaching them to think in a certain way, to go down a certain path in
It
it`s telling them: go to high school, get a diploma, go to a good college,
life,
a stable job, and if you don`t do that you won`t be successful. And if that
find
true, how am I even standing here today?
was
did I, a straight C student, start a technology company at age of 16?
How
how is my company, which was featured on a Wall Street Journal last
And
doing better that some of these companies started by Harvard and
week,
graduates? It must be something that can`t be measured by
Stanford
intelligence alone. So, here is what I believe. Parents, teachers,
academic
you have the power to influence and inspire youth. The fact is,
educators,
are way too many people out there right now who are obsessed with
there
kids to go to college, to find a good job, and to be “successful”. There
telling
not enough who are telling kids to explore more possibilities, to become
are
And if there`s one message that I want parents, kids, and all
entrepreneurs.
you to take away from what I`ve said today is that you can open your own
of
you can stray away from this conventional, limited and narrow path
doors,
education sets us upon. You can diverge and create your own future.
that
can start your own companies and start your own non-profits. You can
You
you can innovate. And if there`s one message I want you to take
create,
from everything I`ve said, it is this: no one has ever changed the world
away
by doing what the world has told them to do.

Spring’s back in town, although the
temperatures and the hours of Sunlight
that we get here in Valencia could
easily pass as summer in other parts of
the world. Coming back to the city after
a wonderful retreat in the mountains, I
am so happy that my current home isn’t
just another grey
anonymous agglomeration.

I grew up on a family farm in a
beautiful village in the south of
Poland. As a matter of fact, ancient
Slavic tribes celebrated the New Year
in Spring. Growing up, Spring time
was one of the most vibrant
moments in the whole year for all of
us. It was also the time when already
as a little girl I needed to take part in
the Spring cleaning. With my parents,
we would rake the garden around the
house, organize the rocks and
pebbles on the rock garden, pick the
fallen sticks and anything else that
emerged from underneath the
recently melted snow. It was crucial
to prepare the ground like this,
because very soon new grass and
plants would start popping up. I
remember very well the freshness of
this awakening of Mother Nature and
how she would vibrate with
anticipation through every one of her
leaves and buds.
As I sit here now under the Valencian
sun which is pouring down its
abundant heat, through the eyes of
imagination I can see the young
catkins and I can feel their soft texture. I
remember how exciting it was for the
little me to explore all those natural
phenomena. Back then living in the
countryside meant we were much more
connected to the natural rhythms. The
rebirth of all life after a very long Polish
winter was a true spectacle. The
abundance of life forms that were now
emerging was in striking contrast to the
white stillness that would cover
everything in the previous months.
Green was the prevailing colour.
Being able to watch Nature from up
close from an early age got me
accustomed to the fact that most of
flora and fauna procreate. You could not
miss the cats getting all active and
yelling during their fights competing for
mates or the birds chirping excitingly on
every tree. Farm life gave me many
opportunities to see how the animals
get involved in sexual activity. We had
hens and I understood perfectly that in
order for a hen to lay a fertilized egg,
first she would have an intercourse (a
rather brief one) with the cock. I also
always how the cows get pregnant and
how the baby calves are born.
As early as I can remember, I was
allowed to assist the cow. It was very
exciting for me but equally dramatic for
the mother cow. I remember how she
would change within the hours prior to
the labour. And we would also change –
suddenly everybody would get more
caring, even my father who normally
didn’t see them as sentient beings. Now
we all felt that she is going through a
huge process and since she was a
domestic animal, she depended on us.
And we depended on her – her milk and
her young. I also witnessed the death of
many of our animals. Some of them
were sacrificed so that our family could
eat, and others died tragically. Before I
turned 15, I assisted passing away of my
two dogs and my beloved cat.
I never personally assisted human child
birth but I’ve seen countless videos of
this breathtaking moment. One of my
closest friends is getting trained to
become a chaperone and the way she
sees her role is truly admirable. She tells
me stories of how she sometimes stays
with the mother for the entire night,
supporting her and trying to bring her
back in touch with her natural strength.
April | 2019

Most of nowadays’ mothers to be have
lost trust in themselves and are scared
and helpless during the whole process.
Thanks to my friend’s experience, I
learned that the birth is equally dramatic
for the mother and the newborn, as both
of them go through a huge transition. The
first moments right after the child is born
are crucial and determine its entire
life. But birth isn’t necessarily only the
physical act. Ideas are born every day.
And as humans, just like anything else in
nature, in a lifetime we go through
numerous cycles of life – death –
rebirth.
About five years ago I decided to embark
on the path of personal development.
Back then, I was still suffering from a
chronic sexual dysfunction so first steps
into the new me consisted of healing the
physical body.
Very soon, I realized that all the pain that
was happening on the physical level was
just a manifestation of my emotional state.
The dysfunction was my companion for
most of my life – it started when I was 11
years. It was not easy to suddenly let
go, because as much as my conscious mind
wanted me to heal, my subconscious did
not.
However, after having tried all the options
that the mainstream medicine had to offer
and getting absolutely no results, I was
quite desperate and was ready to do
anything to save
myself.
When I started receiving my first
shamanic treatments with the use of a
potent plant medicine, I soon realized
that what I needed to do was to save
myself from myself. I began to understand
all the self-sabotage mechanisms
that were ruling my world. I came
to understand that there are
certain aspects of my ego that do
not want me to get healed. But I
knew I could no longer live a life
full of suffering. It was either me
or them. It truly was a matter of
life and death. The ego death.
I went through the process of the
ego death several times. It was
incredibly painful and utterly
terrifying. The medicine was so
potent and yet my ego really
resisted. I realized my panicky
fear of death and I would scream
in agony, hoping that someone
would come and save me from all
this.
GRADUALLY, A SHIFT TOOK
PURPOSE, THUS CREATING
PLACE AND I WAS NOW
CONSIDERING THAT PERHAPS
DEATH ISN’T MY ENEMY.
AFTER ALL – DOESN’T SHE
COME TO TAKE AWAY WHAT
NO LONGER SERVES ITS
SPACE FOR NEW LIFE?

APRIL 2019
But there was no way out. The more I
tried to run away the deeper I would be
taken into this process. Running away
from myself was no longer an option.
Carrying on with all the resistance and
pain wasn’t possible either. The first few
ego deaths were more of a mortal
combat – painful, leaving me on the edge
of madness. It was absolutely exhausting,
confusing and I had left devastated for
days after. However, my intention of
getting healed was stronger than all that
(or perhaps it was the desperation). It
made me come back again, and again.
Gradually, a shift took place and I was
now considering that perhaps death isn’t
my enemy. After all – doesn’t she come to
take away what no longer serves its
purpose, thus creating space for new life?
I had kind of always believed it on a
conceptual level. But what was
happening to me in those shamanic
ceremonies was far from conceptual – it
was a deeply felt pain and terror that one
experiences in the very close presence of
death. Luckily, my determination was
unshaken. As a consequence, with
whatever was left of my conscious mind I
decided to stop resisting. It wasn’t easy
but I gave myself a chance… and as I was
clearly feeling the death approach me one
more time, I decided to go along till the
end…
dilation contractions. ‘How strange’ – a quick thought passed by. And then I
started feeling squashed and pushed and pulled at the same time. And then it
was clear to me – I was dying and I was being born at the same time. I knew I
was screaming very loud and felt sorry for disturbing the ceremony but I
couldn’t help it. It truly was a matter of life and death.
I don’t remember exactly what happened right after. But I know I had gone
through this a few times that night. Until finally, I was so exhausted I couldn’t
do anything when she came to take me again. I spread my arms and
welcomed her with an embrace. She returned that embrace which first made
me collapse and then within seconds, she lifted me up. My arms started
dancing, spiraling out like fresh asparagus sprouts. I was elated, I was thrilled
- I was being reborn! With such ease and such grace. I stood up – no trace of
tiredness, no more fear, I danced.
My body started recovering and eventually, the physical illness left my body
completely. I was a new person. After two years of hard work through tears
and sweat I was beginning a completely new chapter of my life. The struggle
and the pain that came with thorough internal cleaning had left me with a lot
of free space. For a while I felt vulnerable, just like a newborn. I needed to
learn how to put my first steps in this healthy body. I also intuitively knew
how to get in tune with myself. By obliging with the natural forces of life and
death I became even more closely connected to Mother Nature which was
now, and still is, communicating with me through my own body.
The first time I decided to surrender and
let the death take me, was a big surprise. I
didn’t see a white light or a tunnel.
Instead, I started feeling strong pain in my
PRESIDENTE
Presidente was born last summer to a well-managed and healthy feral colony in Madrid. Boldly inquisitive by nature,
his story is one where curiosity almost did kill the kitten. Seeking food, he was caught up in a container on no less than
three occasions. The first time he emerged with just a cut. The second time he managed to break his tiny paw. And the
third time he snagged a toe.
While Presidente's break healed badly, with a serious infection leaving his left front paw a little twisted (see photo),
there is no reason why he should not lead a perfectly normal and happy life. But it is tough for him to compete for food
on the street. He needs a home—ideally, an apartment where he will not be tempted to run and jump too much as he
might outside.
This beautiful charismatic cat is well-socialised, taking trips to the vet in his stride and adapting easily to home life with
a foster carer on several occasions. He enjoys hanging with the human kind and loves to be stroked. Presidente is also
chilled around other cats and gets on well with all. His exploring days are over but he's a happy soul. These days he's
pretty laid-back and just looking for the one.”

PUBLIC BUS SERVICES IN VALENCIA
Taking buses around Valencia will offer you the opportunity to get
around the city whilst seeing the sights as you travel. It is important to
remember that when you are taking the bus you will need to be
reasonably independent - you will not necessarily know when you need
to get off the bus so it can be more intimidating than catching the metro.
ARTS & MUSIC
If you decide to travel by bus, it is worth considering buying combined
tickets that will allow you to take the bus as well as the tram and the
metro (see below for more details). The options include the Valencia
tourist card or the Integrated Transport Ticket.
Bus ticket prices:
Single journey: €1.50
Valencia Card: For full details, see our Valencia Tourist Card page.
Integrated Transport Ticket: For the various combined ticket options,
see our Valencia Metro page.
summer as there is air conditioning in the carriages.
TUIN TRAVEL CITY CARD
What is TuiN card?
The TuiN card is a smart, single travel card for travel throughout the Metrovalencia network with additional
advantages.
How to charge it?
It can be charged onto any contactless travel card (TSC) valid for the Metrovalencia network. In the future, it may
also be charged on an NFC telephone and external sales networks.
If you already own a TSC, you can charge it when the current balance runs out. Otherwise, you may purchase it
pre-charged at the price set by FGV.
Where to purchase it?
Nowadays, you can charge it at Metrovalencia Customer Service Centres (CAC) and Customer Service Kiosks,
where we will register your information to ensure you receive all of the advantages and help you resolve any
possible incidences. You can also recharge your card at any ticket vending machine within the Metrovalencia
network.
As of April 2015, you can charge cards directly at ticket vending machines, although we still recommend you
register at our customer service centres or online to receive all of the advantages that we offer (balance
reimbursement in case of loss or theft, recharging your card online, etc.).
Can I charge a new ticket if I still have journeys left from another ticket?
No. You must use your journeys before, then you can charge a new ticket.
What does it cost?
You can acquire the ticket by charging a minimum balance of 10 € on your card, and additional multiples of 1 € (you
may not charge cents).
When you want to recharge your card balance, the minimum amount is also 10 € (and additional multiples of 1 €).
How much does each journey cost?
Once your card is charged, the price of each journey with the TuiN card is the same as a Bonometro:
