It’s a myth to believe only men are addicted to sex!
As the number of young
men who are addicted to
sex grows in leaps and
bounds, women (not hookers),
who believe they couldn’t have
enough of sex, like their male
counterparts, are also jumping in
at the deep end, drinking in the
pleasure that ‘sex offers. Yet the
fad remains that when it comes to
sexual adventure, men are first in
line. Evidence abounds in the
number of once respectable neighbourhoods
that are now reluctant
hosts to scantily dressed women
on’ the prowl for men who want
cheap thrills. All this type of
women want is the cash. The men,
on the other hand, want sexual adventure
and are willing to pay the
price!
Why is there such a ready market
for lust? “Sex addictions an
illness,”” says a psychologist, just
like dependencies on gambling,
alcohol or drugs”. The reason
some people begin this behaviour
is to to either gain pleasure or to
erase painful or uncomfortable
feelings. They might have had a
bad day in the office or had a row
with my wife, so they watch porn
video before they go to bed or if
they have a ready bit-on-the-side,
go out for a quick shag to relieve
the strain.
“As time goes on, such a person
starts to need more of that pleasure
in order to get pain relief. And
that’\s when addiction starts ...”
Chijioke doesn’t consider herself
a sex-addict. She says she just loves
healthy sex and doesn’t allow a little
thing like marriage rob her of
her pastime.
“I almost burnt my fingers recently”,
she confessed cheekily.
“Now in my mid-40s, I found the
attention of the 30-something yearold
bank investment manager who
services my investment in the bank
quite flattering. It was inevitable
that we started an affair, the man
who simply built for sex and for a
while, it was wonderful. For a few
months, I was giddy with the satisfaction
raw sex brought.
“When my husband mentioned
the fact that he’d driven past and
seen the banker’s car in front of my
office twice, I knew my lover had to
go. And, when next he called, that
was what I told him. `I like you a
lot, I told him. `but my husband is
getting suspicious and he could be
violent when crossed. I think we
should cool things a bit. I thought
he would take it in good faith. I
mean, how many women like me
would he have on his list? But he
wailing and loud lamentation,
they were no… Jeremiah
31:15, Matthew 2:18
he times are changing once
Tagain in Nigeria. One cannot
sleep and wake up without hearing
reports of senseless killings somewhere
in Nigeria, without having this
feeling that Nigeria is an accident
waiting to happen, without the nostalgia
that we are sitting on a keg of
gunpowder. We read all manner of
things. We fear all manner of things.
We hear what are happening elsewhere
in the world and we pray Nigerians
will have no cause to run
helter-skelter.
But we know Nigerians are running
helter-skelter already where
these killings are domiciled and this
is evidenced in what we see in foreign
embassies. Those who can afford
to are relocating overseas where
they hoped to get a better life. There
are many refugee camps and IDPs
in Nigeria. A lot of men who are
married are living single in Nigeria
because men of affluence have relocated
their wives and children overseas
for safety.
In parts of Nigeria where we have
peace, we now realised its peace of
the graveyard.
Every day I drive to work, I do so
in the fear of youths sitting and loitering
on Mile 2 Bridge in Lagos
who robbed people in broad daylight.
Yes, indeed, jobless youths hold
sway in many parts of Lagos, robbing
in the afternoon and at night.
They don’t hide their faces. I have
been robbed several times by them
and I learnt the wisdom of negotiating
with thieves and robbers.
My colleague, Ebun Sessou was so
shocked when a one of the robbers
greeted me on Mile Two Bridge. I told
him I would soon 'settle' them and
my colleague was aghast. What was
that? That was a robber. And I asked
her, would you rather he and his colleagues
robbed us and stabbed us? He
asked his 'guys' to let us go. Ebun was
also in my car on one of the nights we
were robbed. She almost urinated on
herself as she heard the night robber
threaten that we were joking with our
lives if we didn’t surrender what we
had on us. I was the one they approached
first. They surrounded the
car, threatening fire and brimstone,
showing us guns and knives just in
case we thought they were joking.
We don’t joke with our lives. Many
of my colleagues have been slapped,
stabbed, threatened, robbed and given
a hot chase by suspected robbers or
kidnappers.
The invasion by containers and
tankers who ply Apapa and Tincan
Wharf have not helped matters. We
seemed at the mercy of these evil people
all the time. Shadows are always
seen meandering between tankers
and containers. They rob, harm people
and disappear into the shadows.
Then you are shocked by a worse
kind of people. These are aliens from
Chad, Niger, Mali, Togo and other
African countries. These have taken
the centre stage in Lagos and almost
everywhere in Lagos and other parts
of Nigeria. They are herdsmen, okada
riders, traders, shoe-makers,
maiguards and into all kinds of
things. They are the motor boys of
some tanker and trailer drivers.
In Lagos, they converge around a
really looked hurt and sinister.
`You can’t use me and dump me
just like that’. He sneered. `I really
love you’.
“My tummy turned. What had I
let my self into? “ `Look?’, I reasoned
with him, `you’re a nice man
and married. I just feel I ought to
concentrate on making my marriage
work. It wouldn’t be so bad
if you did the same thing and pay
more attention to your wife.”
“He was really livid by now”.
`O yeah? You should have thought
of that before you seduced me. You
won’t get rid of me in a hurry.”
With that, he stormed out of my
office. I felt sick with shame as my
workers looked at me curiously
when I came out of my office.
They must have wondered at our
raised voices. Thank goodness I
hadn’t told him where I lived - be
Nigerians are at the mercy of
foreigners from
neighbouring African
countries who are harming
us and disobeying our laws.
Nigeria is under invasion by
these aliens and nothing is
being done about them
only had my mobile number. So, I
kept that turned off when I was at
home. And, when pleading text
messages started to appear fro
him, I quickly erased them. By that,
I hope he would understand we
were now history .. ‘Of course, I told
my staff not to let him into my office
without first clearing it with
me. I was on my way home a few
weeks later when he accosted me
by my car ‘Why have you been ignoring
my text messages?’?, he
asked menacingly.
That was it! I threatened that if
he so much as got in touch with
my again, I would not only pull all
my investments from his bank I
would write an official letter of
protest to his MD. That soon put
paid to the harassment!”.
“When your appetite for sex is
ravenous, you get used from time
to time”, said Tumi, a divorcee
with two children. She was to attend
a friend’s 40th birthday bash
but had no car. Her friend volunteered
to send another family
friend to bring her to the party.
According to her, “When Tom
showed up, I was really pleased to
see him as I hadn’t seen him for
years. As I got dressed, he told me
about his failed marriage and
condemned my ex for being financially
irresponsible. I thought he
would turn down my offer of a
drink since we were going to have
more than enough to drink at the
party, but he didn’t. We chatted easily
about old times and I don’t
know to this day how he crossed
over to where I was, telling me he’d
always fancied me. In a minute,
we were kissing. Could this be it, I
thought? We were both single now,
surely, we could make it work? My
luck has certainly changed as I
place called ‘Adamawa’ village
where we were told nobody dared to
go, not even security agencies. I keep
wondering how ‘Adamawa ‘village
could be created in Lagos or if it is a
fairy tale.
But I saw the evil they have done
to Apapa and the fact that the expatriate
investors, the white men that
used to live in Apapa have been
chased out. A new form of ‘investors’
who are okada riders, tanker drivers
and trailer drivers have taken
centre stage, disregarding every law
in Nigeria, driving against the traffic,
disobeying rules, wounding and
maiming people, damaging peoples
cars and properties and no one challenges
them.
An alien okada rider driving
against the traffic damages your car
and scores of urchins from other
lands who are his colleagues surrounds
you and threatens you; in this
our country. They have become the
law by being completely lawless and
nobody asks questions, nobody bothers
them with what they are doing to
Nigeria and you see how deadly they
look and the menacing look they
give you when they ride their bikes
against the traffic and you driving
your car don’t make a way for them.
Hit any of their bikes mistakenly and
see what happens.
Nigerians are at the mercy of foreigners
from neighbouring African
countries who are harming us and
disobeying our laws. Nigeria is under
invasion by these aliens and nothing
is being done about them.
So, why won’t there be killings everywhere
because these aliens are everywhere
in Nigeria as bandits, herdsmen,
terrorists and we look on. If
anything, they have become veritable
tools in the hands of politicians
who use their services to acquire
power by hook or crook without regard
to the number of people they
have to kill to acquire power.
It's unfortunate we are living in a
society where morons are barons,
where thieves are kings, where the
monkey works and the baboon
chops, where might is right and injustice
is the order of the day.
The menace of bandits and herdsmen
are getting worse by the day.
Nigerians sleep with two eyes open.
The killings are happening everywhere:
north, east and west: Sokoto,
Kaduna, Kano, Benue, Enugu,
Anambra, Rivers, Akwa Ibom,
Ebonyi, Imo and other places.
Nowhere is left out and Nigerians
cannot take it anymore.
O to ge!
We don’t need a revolution like
they had in Sudan for security agencies
to do their job. Many blame the
President of the country for what is
happening and that is understandable.
Uneasy lays the head that wears
the crown.
Sometimes, I feel sorry for the
president when Nigerians lambast
him for allegedly turning a blind eye
to killings across Nigeria; when he
is blamed for the hard times Nigerians
are going under the current administration.
So, I started my campaign that
change starts with the man in the
mirror. Buhari is not everywhere and
those who represent him should help
him out. Nigerians too should help
him out because some of these killings
are being perpetrated by Nigerians.
Why are there so many killings
because of the gold in Zamfara
and its neighbouring states? Haven’t
we all been enjoying the proceeds
from oil in the Niger Delta?
Let the truth be told: we should use
the proceed of gold from these northern
parts to develop Nigeria like we
are using the oil from the south.
Our dear president should listen
to Nigerians. I overheard Femi
Fani-Kayode almost taking it personal
with him the other day and I
didn't find it funny. Sometimes, it
really pains: “When a President
seemingly hardens his heart to rea-
used to like him too.
Within minutes, he’d inched me
into the bedroom and fallen on top
of me. I protested feebly, but he
smothered my protests with his
mouth and all the fight went out
of me ... Right then, morals loosened
by alcohol, the only thing I
cared about was the lust flaming
in my groin. Moments later, both
our clothes were on the floor. This
wasn’t making love. It was pure
animal, basic sex and for that moment
the most exciting thing I’d
experienced since my divorce.
When we got to the party, my friend
thanked Tom for bringing me, as
she pointed to a lady saying: ‘Your
wife was anxious about you, she
wondered why you were late‘“.
His wife? I looked at Tom but he
didn’t meet my eyes. I felt really
cheap. I haven’t seen the bastard
since then but even if I did; what
would I say to him? Later, he sent
a text message that he had a failing
marriage but was not divorced.
That he really cared for
me and wanted us to meet up. I
didn’t bother to reply ...”
So, how can you tell if your
spouse is a potential sex addict?
Are they one if they like to read
girlie magazines or go our occasionally
on their own? Again, the
psychologist explains: “A lot of
men, or women for that matter, will
buy porn as part of a healthy sex
life. It’s not about the occasionally
purchase of a magazine or
blue film. The trouble starts when
these materials become more important
than the other people in
their lives – and when pornography
becomes a way of helping
them fix their feelings rather than
being a healthy part of normal
sexuality”.
son and keep silent over these people
who have resorted to terrorizing
and killing his own citizens and have
seemingly turned a blind eye to mass
murder, ethnic cleansing and genocide,
in order to intimidate and subjugate
the people and suppress dissent,
when he brazenly rigs elections
and shamelessly denies the people
of their right to exercise the free and
true expression of their will through
the ballot box, when he locks up and
persecutes opposition figures and
targets their leaders, when he threatens
and intimidates the Judiciary
and when he emasculates the Legislature,
when he muzzles the media,
when he detains activists, journalists,
bloggers, writers, and political
commentators and when he brutalizes
the people and treats them with
contempt and disdain, you know that
his end is near.
“… We must always remember
that God is not asleep and that
though the night may be dark and
full of tribulations, fears, and tears,
joy comes in the morning.
“We must always remember that
sooner or later the darkness will be
lifted, our morning will come, the
finger of the Lord will be unleashed,
His purpose will be made manifest,
His people will be delivered and His
name shall be glorified.
“We must always remember that
sooner or later something will give,
Herod will fall and, once again, we
shall marvel at the wisdom and
power of our Lord and Defender.
“It is only a matter of time before
we bear witness and testimony to the
greatest Red sea experience in the
history of our nation. It is only a
matter of time before Sennacherib
will be consumed and slaughtered
by his own sons at the altar of their
gods.
“Everything has an expiry date, including
the wickedness of the
wicked, the rulership of the proud,
the arrogance of the arrogant and
the tyranny of bloodthirsty and evil
men.
“When their cup is full and God
says “it is time”, the spell will be broken
and they shall vanish like chaff
before the wind.”
Do we deserve this? Is this the next
level?
God help us all.
