This is an illustrated poetry book with a free competition:
Want to enter? Here’s how:
Suggest a theme for a poem. It could be anything that
comes to mind; a person, place, thing, an observation, an
animal, a landscape, a feeling, an experience …
If it inspires a poem you will win a signed copy of the book,
featuring the poem you suggested the theme for.
Anyone and everyone can enter. Whether you are 2 -
102, ( even over 102!).
There will be sections to cover themes for different ‘ages’.
Ie: a children’s section, humorous poems, socio -
economic observations, poems about our landscape
The book is tied in with ‘Magical Moments 2019’ the
celebration of North Cornwall as an Area of Ouststanding
Natural Beauty, so perhaps you have a place locally that
you would like to see described in the book.

Professional and amateur
golfers are invited
to come together
for a day of golf this spring
Now do you remember two years ago and the Great
Cornish Cake Bake which was held in memory of Mary
Scarrett at the Methodist Sunday School? The room (and
the stall) was packed and an amazing £652 was raised for
Cornish Hospice Care. It was repeated last year and guess
what’s going to happen in 2019?
The original fundraiser was such a success (I clearly
remember Barbara saying that she thought she was
clearing the cake stall when a new round of cakes and
goodies arrived to be sold) that it’s been decided to revisit
it this year.
So Delabole’s Great Cornish Cake Bake Day will be on
Friday 17th May between 10 a.m. and noon - again in
the Methodist Schoolroom and again we’re hoping for your
support in generously baking and hungrily devouring.
Remember, it’s in aid of Cornwall Hospice Care and the
morning won’t be the same without you.
Family Breakfast
Family Breakfast happens on the first Sunday of each
month at 9.30am in the Methodist Sunday School.
I am always the pessimist and mosey up to the kitchen
to tell Barbara and Marie that there aren’t many there so
no need to cook too much bacon or boiled eggs. Was I
wrong in April!It was almost full house and there was one
sausage left at the end.
Alison came up with her usual inventive craft activities to
back up the video that she showed and then it was time
to serve the food.
Truro Golf Club will play host to a charity Golf Event in
May which will not only provide a day of golf and the
chance to meet and mingle with other golfers but also raise
money for Merlin MS Centre.
The day tees off at 9am on May 24th with slots available
right through till 2pm for 18 holes of golf and a rolling two
course carvery. There will be lots of opportunities to win
prizes including nearest the pin and longest yard games,
the chance for your team to win up to £300 and a hole in
one prize of a Hot Tub from Cornish Hot Tubs worth
£6000. There will also be a presentation event in the
evening.
Event Co-ordinator, Tania Edwards, said “We are really
looking forward to this event, it’s a first for the Merlin MS
Centre but we are already seeing teams booking up for
both business and pleasure.”

four which includes 18 holes and a two-course carvery.
Sponsorship opportunities are available, and donations of
prizes are always welcome.
