Vanguard, THURSDAY, APRIL 25, 2019—14 Northern group demands APGA national chairmanship By Innocent Anaba K A D U N A — NATIONAL Convention, a group of Northern stakeholders within the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, has demanded that the position of the National Chairman of the party be zoned to the North. The group further asked for equity in the distribution of other offices of the party in line with the federal character principle. In a communique at the end of its meeting in Kaduna,Northern Stakeholders of APGA which had in attendance a former National Secretary/ Secretary of the party’s Board of Trustees and governorship candidate of the party in Zamfara State, Sani Shinkafi, Polycarp Gankon, state Chairmen and Secretaries from the Northern states of the federation and all other constitutionally recognised members of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the party resolved that the party’s constitution provided for the zoning of national offices. The communique reads, “After exhaustive deliberations on various important issues as it affects the party especially an assessment of the present state of the party and the forthcoming wards, states congresses and the National Convention of the party the meeting resolved as follows; “That a vote of confidence be passed in the governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, the National Leader of the party and the Chairman Board of Trustees of APGA for his spectacular performance in office in all facets of governance, the economy and other socio-cultural activities despite the very trying times that the nation found itself as it concerns the worst recession in the modern history of Nigeria. “The Northern stakeholders also congratulates our representatives in the National Assembly and states Assembly, who won their elections in the recently concluded 2019 general election and charged all our candidates that are in the electoral tribunals to diligently pursue their petitions up to its logical conclusion." The Corps in a statement yesterday in Abuja, by its spokesman, DCC Emmanuel Okeh, among others said, "he has also directed the Forensic Psychology unit of the Corps to work out the timetable for the security profiling and psychological test of all personnel of the Corps against future occurrences. Cattle ranches'll resolve herders/farmers clashes — NCNE boss By Abdulmumin Murtala KSecretary ANO—EXECUTIVE of the National Commission for Nomadic Education, NCNE, Professor Bashir Usman yesterday in Kano state advocated for the establishment of ranches across the country as a way of solving the persistent problem between farmers and herders which has claimed several lives among others. Prof. Usman who spoke during the opening ceremony of a 3-day workshop on the Advocacy and Sensitization workshop on the remodeling of grazing reserves into ranches in Kano said the workshop became imperative because the commission now focused on advocacy, mobilization, and sensitization initiative to motivate the herders to move into grazing reserves expected to be re-modeled into ranches. According to him, “the Fulanis are not completely abandoned. But there is a certain degree of abandonment particularly the people that we were asked to educate. The attitude is also a factor. It is a two-way thing; they themselves are very difficult to work with. I have also said that the incessant fighting that we are witnessing also has political undertones." “This is not to say that there are no criminal elements among the Fulanis. Not to say also that some of these criminal elements don’t want to repent, they want to repent. So everybody should be given chance and that is why we are here for the workshop. Onyewuchi alongside other APC elders and chairmen from the 27 local government areas met at the party’s state secretariat in Owerri, saying that it would address what they called anomalies during the said elections. The chairman while reading the position of the elders council said: “This is a sad and melancholy situation, for it becomes my duty to inform you that the elders council of the Imo state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, met and deliberated extensively on the present day issues affecting our party, APC. “We support and participate actively in Senator Hope Uzodinma's petition at the tribunal because if an honour is awarded where it is not merited, then it has been denied where it is justly due.” On the Imo North Senatorial election, “We appeal to the judiciary to expedite judgement on the Imo North Senatorial seat.
